We had discovered this Mexican Restaurant during Covid and always enjoyed their outdoor parklet area. We had actually never been to the inside dining area until recently, and what a fun and festive spot. Thanks to Giselle, Victor, and Jackie for helping us maneuver through their extensive menu, and always with lots of good food suggestions. And whether you're there for their Breakfast Plates, Appetizers, Burritos, or Combination Plates, they also have delicious beverages for everyone. We also just went to try their Santa Barbara Independent Coffee Week offerings. And they were incredibly delicious. Definitely need to mention my favorites, Mi Plátano Canelo Latte and La Lucha Latte. I was a bit disappointed with this visit. They were out of Mole Enchiladas and Horchata, which I was really looking forward to. The chips came with an extra spicy salsa that even my Mexican friend found too intense. When we asked if there was a regular or milder option, we were told they had run out. Google had recommended trying their specialty coffee drink, but we were informed it would take a while to make, so we decided to skip it. Food: I ordered the Chile Verde, which consists of lean diced pork cooked and simmered in green sauce. It was decent, but it did not stand out. I think the dish would benefit from a little more kick and depth of flavor. Service: Okay. The barista/cashier did not seem very welcoming, and we waited a while before being acknowledged and seated. However, our main server was nice and friendly. Ambiance: Beautiful Mexican inspired interior design. Overall, I think this place has potential, and I hope they improve consistency with their menu availability and service. read more

Been coming here since this place opened. LOVE IT. I don't live here anymore, when I come visit I say "momdad let's go to Del Pueblo." They say "noooo it's under new management and it's terrible we will never go back." Finally, I take myself in for a table for 1 to disprove or confirm opinions of parental units. Boy were they fuckin wrong. It's delicious. Vibe is still all time. Chile relleno and crispy shredded beef taco tastes exactly like it has for the last 20something years, which is good. An absolute nostalgic blast to my childhood. Glad I popped in, probably my parents were freaked out that some of the furniture was in different places. Some adults fear change of any kind. Anyway. Everyone come here. Ask for the spicy salsa, it's green and delicious. The passion fruit drink is delightful. 10/10 experience. It's time to update my review here. Especially since the changes in management have occurred nearly two years ago and the menu has been updated. This restaurant is now run by Giselle Cuevas (granddaughter of original owners) and her partner Victor Camargo. They bring a fresh updated menu and experience here at the restaurant. With an added addition of a beautiful coffee espresso machine. Locals like me know of this hidden gem, but others may not. It's the type of restaurant you seek if visiting from out of town. A true mom and pop type restaurant, that's not touristy but one that serves it's purpose. I've been coming here for years now, mainly on my lunch break with co-workers. The exterior doesn't look like much, but once you step inside you are hit with walls of beautiful art and ceramics from Mexico. There's plenty of seating and the restaurant itself is spacious. The food is authentic and made with high quality ingredients. I especially love how the serving presentation has been upgraded. It's the little things that make a plate of food look more appealing. Plus the portions are pretty generous. My go-to here is usually the mole enchiladas or two item combo of a chicken taco and enchilada. I always leave with leftovers because the portions are more than generous. Either way, you'll leave here well fed! Overall, this restaurant may be off the beaten path, but it's definitely worth checking out and supporting a local business. read more

I had to grab breakfast while taking some meetings and was not disappointed at all! I ordered their ham, cheese, and potato breakfast burrito and felt like sent back to my grandma's pueblo in Mexico. The ham is perfect cooked, slightly charred, and super flavorful. It was a perfect balance with their beautifully cooked potatoes, stringy cheesy, and so so so much egg! One thing was told they were out, went to order something else they told us they had no meat. went to order the third thing - no flavor service was slow. Didn't even come back to refill drinks or ask if we were OK. Went to take a bite of the chicken taquitos and the meat was green, gray and rancid. When we told the waitress she looked and said oh no. Didn't take the plate and she didn't come back. I LOVE Del Pueblo Cafe. I come here very frequently when I am in town. I want to give them 5 stars, but I cannot because my boyfriend's chicken burrito mojado (his go to) consistently has bones in it. I really have no complaints about their vegetarian food, it's 5 stars, but the fact that his burrito had FIVE bones in it tonight is disgusting and unacceptable. I want to say that at least you know the chicken is fresh but it's not the first time this has happened. It's just gross, so we likely won't be coming back. I think we can all agree their ambience is pretty cool and unique, but I'm surprised to see negative reviews about their service... I've only had positive experiences with their servers, cashiers etc. Last thing I want to say here, they seriously need to have prices listed on their menu. This isn't a Michelin Star restaurant where people don't even care about what they're spending. I used to think this place was mediocre, but I just had some really good chili verde and carnitas. Chili verde was generously sized with chunks of tender lean pork in a tangy and flavorful tomatilla based sauce. Carnitas was confit pork perfection, but I wish I got a little more for $15. Normally, folks would have the opportunity to experience their fun interior, with its wonderful collection of Mexican art. The service is inevitably friendly, it's extremely kid friendly - warm kid "salsa" anyone? - and the prices are reasonable. I typically go for the fajitas or a combo involving crunchy tacos. Strangely, their burrito menu is a bit confusing and makes me hesitant to order one, even though I like burritos a lot and I know they'd almost certainly cook me whatever I want. If they could clear that up a bit, and get better ranch for their salads, this place would get 5 stars from me. Still a nice place to eat with the fam though. read more
