They were topped with sliced bananas and a rich bourbon caramel sauce, and served with maple syrup infused whipped cream that was almost practically ice cream. The French toast also comes with your choice of sausage or pork belly. I opted for the sausage patties, which were tasty and homemade. I also ordered the orange juice ($4.50) and home fries ($3.75). The home fries were delicious. Crispy potato chunks that were the right amount of salty. Between the French toast and home fries, I left stuffed. Service was also great. My server was very friendly and welcoming, and came to check on me a couple of times. Notes - it's a small place with a couple of tables, but I was able to take a seat right away on a Friday morning. Every table comes with 2 bottles of hot sauce - a red sauce and green sauce. You pay at the cash register after you get your check.

My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary. This diner has been open for over 60 years and it has an old jukebox machine and other vintage decor that really transports you back in time and gives you a unique, fun experience! It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. Mom's chicken salad on wheat was just ok too. For the more than hour we waited to get our food, this was not a great experience. When we went to pay the hostess cashier was MIA and we waited. We were going to pay via cc but decided we did not want to wait any longer and just gave cash. I couldn't even flag someone down to tell them I left the bill by the register. No one there. Not sure if help was the issue. Probably was. Too many customers and not enough wait staff. Or just on their own time. Server seemed surprised we wanted to go boxes and our bill. But I got to get back to work and at this rate I was out of the office more than 1 hr 45 mins. Family place. Northstar comes highly recommended by a catering friend as a reliable, go-to place. We arrived and were second in line to order. I'm not wild about their queue up-order/pay-take a pager approach but last night was effortless. We sat on the little patio fronting Warrensville Center Road and enjoyed the hustle bustle of a busy Friday night. We had ordered the thai burrito with chicken and a cola. We self served our drinks and when the food was served we were extremely excited. The presentation was lovely and the portion was generous, including the baked chips. After the first bite, we were hooked. Delicious. Tasty (including the side of peanut sauce). With delightful textures. The chicken was perfectly cooked. We could only eat half and took the rest home.
