Please, hear what I am about to tell you. This is literally not a functioning company as far as I can tell. No movers. No notice. The only contact we got was delays (two hours after they were supposed to be there). And a note from mover saying he was having a hard day. No response from customer service as of yet. Evidently my daughter has two other friends that had same issues. Why did she think she would have a good experience? I have no idea. After five hours of moving the furniture myself up 3 flights of stairs because they are a phantom company, I feel they need to get me physical therapy. This is my second review of Dolly. I left one for a friend who doesn't like to use computers: 5 stars. This is a review from me for my personal experience with them. I had 13 boxes of stuff to be donated. They showed up on time. I thought he would load a couple of boxes at a time and take them to the truck on a very cold day, door opening and closing several times. He moved all the boxes to the porch to organize and move, took him maybe 5 minutes. I thought that was very thoughtful. I have nothing to say but great things about Dolly. Would absolutely use them again. They quoted $69 to load and move boxes to Salvation Army about 10 miles away. Price was what they quoted which I thought was very reasonable. read more

This company is good for moving junk, and that's about it. I was in a pinch and ordered a dining table and bench to be moved the next day. The guys had no moving blankets, no straps to tie stuff down and no tools to disassemble/ reassemble furniture. Using some twine, they tied down my bench on to the top of the table, for a 40 minute drive, with no moving blanket between the two items. Obviously, my $2000 table showed up totally scratched up, with minor scratches on the bench. These guys clearly received no training whatsoever, I think one would be better just getting some Home Depot guys as opposed to using this company. The worst part is that I couldn't even file the insurance, because it says clearly on the website that if you file a claim they will go after the movers. And although these guys did a horrible job, I don't want to be the one to bankrupt someone (anyone doing this side gig obviously really needs the money). Dolly's 'insurance' is a crock of s***. I had two movers show up to move my brand new treadmill from my garage to basement (The company I purchased this treadmill from did not offer in house delivery due to Covid) One of the mover dropped the treadmill and bent the metal arm, which connects the upper part to the treadmill. So I used Dolly in the spring of 2021 to move a couch from the home of the folks who posted it on FB Marketplace to my home. The movers ended up damaging the seller's home to the tune of $250 when they were getting it out of the house. But the Dolly company had my back. I paid for the initial repairs after receiving the estimate from the contractors, and Dolly is not only reimbursing me for the cost of repairs, but they are refunding me the money I paid to hire their company to do the move. So if you want a company that goes over and above to fix mistakes and get things right, then Dolly is your company. I appreciate their willingness to do what other companies may not have done. Great work on an extremely heavy treadmill. It was difficult going upstairs from the basement but happy they were able to take out the basement door and around to the front of my house. Helper (and his truck) cancelled on us the morning of our move after our scheduled arrival time and they had no replacements We had booked 2 movers and a truck weeks ahead of our move in downtown Chicago. We put an arrival time of 10-10:30 because we had booked our buildings elevator from 10-1. At 8 that morning, I messaged my mover and he confirmed he would be there around 10:30. At 10:15, I get a text from dolly support that said our helper was running late with no additional details. I called their support line who said they would follow up because they didn't know the reason behind the message. When I contacted the helper, he responded after 10:30 and said he didn't think he could make it by 1 because he had booked a move before us and that move was going to take too long. I called the support line back and they said they would get us a new helper, and I asked them to call me back within 10 minutes as our move was time sensitive. They never called me back and could not find a new helper. We ended up having to book a last minute uhaul and have friends come over on extremely short notice to move us out of our apartment building and into our new building (which required three flights of stairs). Dolly is in the moving business. Cancelling a move is not like Uber cancelling a ride. We were EXTREMELY lucky to get a truck in the city of Chicago and find friends to help on a short notice. Their helper scheduled a full move before our move at 10:30 (that's not enough time for a move) and their corporate didn't flag that as an overbooking that could lead to a failed appointment. We booked them because they were cheaper than other moving companies, but I would highly recommend using more established companies in the future that have control over their movers schedules. read more

Person delivering my furniture was hours late and forgot a piece had to go back and get it. When I told him he didn't have to live it to the exact place in my house I just needed them to go I'd love it myself, the main guy started telling me "shut the f up!" I asked him to leave and he wasn't leaving. So I finally threatened to call the cops and he threatened to come back to my house and kill me. One hour after the time window opened, I received a text stating they couldn't find anyone to help me. I tried calling with no answer. I texted and was informed that they made no guarantees that my date and time would be available. ( I did not see that disclosed on the app or website.) I was desperately looking for someone who could supply a pickup truck and one or two strong men to pickup a very large very heavy park bench that was being given away. After calling three local moving services and pricing was ridiculous....I put in a request on Dolly's website and was instantly quoted a BEYOND reasonable price! 14 hours later driver texted that he was on his way (at exactly requested time!) My adult son helped him pick up bench...bring to house "approx" 1 Mile and carry it to backyard. 30 minutes...Job done! EXACTLY the kind of service I've been looking for for years...and price was right! I will be using again soon to help get heavy TV, furniture and unused exercise equipment out of basement. The company said they would find me someone at no cost. They sent two men today. These two man are absolutely amazing and they are working really hard. As an employee they are noow outsourcing calls if you need to contact them about a current issue you're having as an employee. They used to have someone here in this country you could talk to and understood issues that were going on. ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE. I would never in a million years hire Dolly again for moving. I had a situation where I was moving from a high-rise to a high-rise, this requires coordination with the building managers to reserve the freight elevator. Moving in and out of these types of buildings requires a non-refundable move-out/move-in fee, in my case, it cost $350 each building ($700 total). I had a specific window that I can move out/in, and I put in my Dolly request of this. My move was scheduled for Saturday, 7/31, a very busy move day as it is the end of the month and also summer. I was scheduled with a mover weeks ago, I had uploaded photos of my boxes, and wrote in the messages the number of boxes I had, and any small furniture I had. Everything seemed to go fine, until two days before my move that the mover CANCELED on me, with no explanation. I know that calling any professional moving company would already be booked out, so I was with customer support explaining that I NEEDED to move out that day, and that I NEEDED a specific window to move out. All customer support offered was a "$20 credit for my troubles". But I explained that the credit means nothing to me and I needed them to find me movers. After a few hours, someone took my Dolly request. The "helper" that took my move had so-so reviews, one explaining that he showed up 6 hours later, another saying that he was unprofessional and that he damaged items/buildings for their moves. I called the "helper" and asked him if he can show up ON TIME, and explained my situation of moving within a specific timeframe. He sounded nice on the phone, saying that he'd show up on time, even early, and not to worry. I again confirmed with him the day before my move, and he said he'll be there. The morning of my move, I messaged him and no response. He was late. I called and no response. I messaged and no response. I must have called him 50 times and it went to voicemail. He never showed up for my move. Dolly F**cked me over, and I may be out the $700 move-in/out fee. On top of that, I now have to stay at a friend's place until I can actually move. TAKE SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR MOVE DETAILS/MESSAGES WITH YOUR HELPER, as Dolly will delete them off your app. I wanted to take screenshots of the messages between me and the "helper", him not showing up and not responding to my messages to show the building managers that it was the movers fault. But after my move was supposed to happen, my "helper" canceled the job and Dolly deleted the messages off my app. You need to ask customer service for a copy of the messages (and they will be in a PDF in plain-text, which looks unprofessional). On top of that, any credit that customer service gave me for my "inconveniences" (they totaled around $50) was wiped off my app as of this morning. I've never used Dolly, and I don't ever recommend it to anyone. Garbage company. Customer support on the weekends is shitty, supervisors don't work Sunday-Monday, so you can't raise any concerns those days. read more

What a clown show this operation is. I have never experienced such a thick, richly layered sh*t pie as the one Dolly served up for me today. So many balls were dropped, I thought I was at a Bulls game. I booked a 2 man crew for today to move a dresser I was buying from a woman on Craig's List. I specified that I would ride in the van with them from her apartment to mine. They connected me with a mover and he texted me. I asked him to verify that he could take me back to my place along with the dresser. He said he didn't have room in his van. How did a booking that he can't fulfill get shown to him in the first place? I guess if Dolly was a restaurant and you ordered a double cheeseburger, you might first be offered a trombone. I contacted Dolly and told them about this. They immediately cancelled that guy and texted a bit later that they got a new crew. That guy texted me and confirmed I could ride with him. Woo. So at 2:30 today, I Uber'd to the pickup location and let the dresser seller know I was downstairs. She came down, and as we were chatting and waiting for the van, the driver texted me and said that due to some "schedule conflict" beyond his control, he was cancelling the pickup. Great. I called Dolly and they couldn't even see in their "system" that the guy cancelled. I think I heard a baby crying in the background. What followed over the course of the next two hours was a flurry of different drivers texting me, asking things like "Can we do it tomorrow?" or "I can do today but I have no assistant. Can you help?" Again, why are people not able to fulfill the request contacting me? Mmm. Delicious trombones. And why isn't Dolly sorting this out for me? All of a sudden I'm a freelance coordinator for Dolly? I also got several automated texts from Dolly telling me "We're working on finding you a mover." No kidding. Every person in Chicago with a pulse and a van has been texting me, whether they could actually do what was asked or not. I called Dolly again. Then I got a text that a guy called Gabriel was coming between 4:30-5:00. Then he texted me and confirmed. Then a guy from Dolly called me and said a guy called Gabriel was coming between 4:30-5:00. Thanks Dolly. You can't do the necessary very well, but you're proving excellent at the unnecessary. So I texted the seller that the van was coming between 4:30 and 5:00. I hung out in a bar and waited. Then I grabbed some food to heat up later for dinner, including an amazing looking piece of carrot cake. This day needed a reward. At 4:30 I walked back to the seller's apartment. At 4:45 Dolly auto-texted me "Sorry, we couldn't find anyone to complete your Dolly. We suggest rebooking at a later date." WTF HAPPENED TO GABRIEL? He didn't text me that he was cancelling! I called Dolly AGAIN. They said that the automated text was in regards to the Dolly I had scheduled for yesterday. What?? I never scheduled a Dolly for yesterday! But that's what it said in their "system", which I think must be a pile of Post-It notes mixed into a cat litter box. I was standing on the street now, looking around for Punk'd cameras. This had to be a joke. Finally, Gabriel texted me that he was definitely coming but running a little late. He showed up and they made the pickup. At which point I realized, holy hell, I was supposed to be back at my apartment with this dresser by 3:30pm. It was 5:45pm. The freight elevator in my building closed at 5pm. I called my doorman. Begged. Nope. Not gonna happen. Then I went above him to the building manager and begged again. I was finally allowed to bring the thing in. Hurriedly, we loaded the dresser into the service elevator and I went over to the managers office and gave her the carrot cake for helping me. To be fair, Gabriel and his helper were awesome. Super friendly and patient guys, and strong and careful. They got the job done. 5 stars for Gabriel and Co. Guys, start your own business! I will never forget this day. I will never stop missing the carrot cake I never got to eat. And I will never use Dolly again. Oh and I've just been charged a 3rd time for this one move. $124 for the first failed trip. $84 for the "discounted" trip that a CSR offered me, and $124 a third time, for what I'm not sure, since a second CSR told me they were going to discount the rate a further $20 for my trouble. I was originally told the price for my move would be $422, and a hold would be placed on my account for it. The Chicago guys clearly knew how to load a moving van to use the space and balance the weight. The NYC guys unloaded faster than expected given that there were two long flights of stairs. i have use dolly in the past and never had any issues. I tried to write this review on their website, and it would not allow me to post it. I wonder why? lol It took several days for someone to finally pick up the job. That was with me constantly calling customer service. Back in the day you could book them right away for same day moving, but not anymore. The helpers as they are called. arrived at the location. It is a high rise with big elevators and wide hallways. They were supposed to move a treadmill. The client said that it did not need to be dissembled to than be reassembled since that is the way that it was delivered. The helper called me so I than called Dolly to upcharge me for the additional cost of dissembling and reassembled the treadmill. They told the client that the hallway was to narrow and that it would not fit in the elevator. How do you think the treadmill was delivered and put inside the apartment. It was not magic. They just said they could not move it and left. Dolly called me to say they did not have the proper tools to do the job. Dolly would no longer be able to move the treadmill. It seems like Dolly is short staff and the few staff they have want easy jobs. easy money. I was charged 50% of my original cost after waiting 3 days for someone to pick up the job and the helpers showing up and making excuses why they could not move the treadmill. When you sign up on the Dolly app. I put pictures of the item and the dimensions, so they know what to expect. I have been very disappointed. I now have to hire a moving company to complete the job and I lost almost 100dollars for a service that was not completed. I hope this helps other people with their time and money. Had a terrible experience with Dolly. I had several bigger items I needed moved from my old apartment to my new one. It was a close move, about 10 minutes away. I had my move confirmed more than 2 weeks before I had to move. I had to be out of my old apartment on August 1st and could not move into the new one until the 1st, so i had do my whole apartment all in one day. The night before the move they cancel without any reason. The next day, it was impossible to get a hold of anyone from Dolly. I even left a message and sent a text and no one responded back to me. The process was very difficult. The website is not user friendly. I set up an order including username and password but the day of the move they finally responded to my emails and texts saying they had no record of me nor my order. I signed up again and re-entered my order. OVer the course of 24 hours I got about 15 texts and 3 different people contacted me allegedly from Dolly saying they would be moving my two items. The time kept on changing with every new person which took time on my part then to contact the store to see if they could accommodate the new time. There is no way to contact Dolly by phone only email. Once a "driver" contacted me saying he would be my driver I called back to be told the number was disconnected. ? I finally got my two items delivered but it was not worth the time and aggravation. they are frustrating and difficult to deal with. DO NOT USE IT!!! The worst service!!! Scheduled 2 movers for a sofa in a timeframe between 6-8 pm. They called me at 2 pm to tell me that they are on the way. Luckily I was close to home so I could be on the spot. When I came only 1 mover was there, the other couldn't make it on time and I was kinda forced to be the second helper. Entering the home he damaged my hardwood floors from the entrance to the living room...(not a single apology was given, he just left like he didn't care at all) Few hours after I emailed the customers service (there is no phone number where you can reach them), then they asked me to file a claim which I did... 4 weeks later I'm reaching back to them to check on the claim and they've told me that they've never got any images (which were sent twice, once in an email and once within the claim). Ok, send them again, for the third time which prolongs their time on reviewing it again... Meantime I purchased a new floor since i couldn't find the exact color match and I've sent them the receipt so they can add it to the claim. Now the best part comes... They reviewed the receipt and decided to cover ONLY for the planks that were damaged!!! Helloooo I wasn't planning to change my floor, I did it because YOU damaged it, not me. The floor was perfect before YOU came into my home!!! To summarize, NEVER NEVER NEVER use this service, and if it comes to talk with customer service better not do it, it is a complete waste of time and energy.
