When you do a search for Dollar Store, there isn't actually a business literally named "Dollar Store" that comes up. Instead you get chains such as Family Dollar, Five Below, Ocean State Job Lot, and Dollar Tree, of which only the Dollar Tree is an actual store where every item cost a dollar.... or less! This Dollar Tree is located off of the VFW Parkway behind a pet shop, sharing a large parking lot with its neighbor Savers. Gift bags, wrapping paper, and paper and plastic party supplies are to the right, frozen food in the back left corner, and helium balloons up front. Posterboard, fake flowers, aluminum trays. A hodgepodge of items fill the shelves. Brands range from the familiar to the unfamiliar. I suggest you read the ingredients of any food items you are considering buying. I almost purchased a can of coconut milk till I noticed that the top two ingredients were coconut extract and water, followed by a number of scientific jargon that I could not wrap my mind around.

I used to go to the location often before I changed jobs. I was shocked to see it so disorganized with all of the boxes out on the floor. There was no employee on the floor unloading the boxes, but the store was not busy. Every aisle was filled with unpacked boxes.

Now open and the best Dollar Tree yet. I have been waiting decades and years for this to open!!!! I absolutely love the Dollar Tree, and the only close location to my home in Norwood (up until now) is terrible. So when I saw the "coming soon" sign on this building for Dollar Tree, I was ecstatic. And as I hoped, the West Roxbury Dollar Tree is better than any other. It's not the largest store, but it's super clean and has the best selection. They have more than other Dollar Tree locations and have the store immaculate, more than literally every other Dollar Tree ever (when I think of Dollar Tree, I most often think of a dark, dirty store). Staff are somewhat friendly and the lack of carpet is so pleasant (that gross carpet in the Norwood location are stained and super ugly). Located in the Savers plaza on the VFW Parkway, quickly accessible from I-95, in West Roxbury. So looking forward to shopping here often..... at least once a week. 5 stars.

This is a good small discount store sitting in busy Hyde Park center…read more I LOVE dollar stores. What I don't really like is when store's use the word "dollar" in their name, but DON'T sell everything in the store for one dollar or less. For instance, "Family Dollar" (which, ironically, is RIGHT next door to this store) doesn't sell everything for a dollar, and previous stores I used to go to (Dollar Plus in Dedham, Dollar Plus in Walpole, both of which have closed). Anyway, this store isn't a dollar store, but thankfully didn't call themselves it. I had to do a double-take to realize the actual name of the store. It's really called "Super Discount Store". In the past, driving by, and until today I thought it said "Super Dollar Store". Anyway, this store is great. It has some of the best discounts around and a great stock of everything. I have one major complaint. The smell of the store. When walking into anywhere, it should smell great, or at least passable. I didn't notice if they sold any air fresheners, but if they do they should spray some around, and if not, management should walk next door to Family Dollar and buy one for the store, the Febreze "spring" edition would be nice. Anyhow, this stores best variety is clothing. They have good clothing at reasonable prices, and an extra large selection of "Boston" wear, and summer sandals. Other than that, all of the departments are mostly pretty good. The storage and container department was a bit overpriced, but other than that, everything from medical to toys to office supplies was all priced well and had a good, decent inventory. The lady working was friendly, kind, seemed to be working hard to keep the store clean (good employee!). Overall, this is a good discount store that I will be coming back to and purchasing more from. 4 stars.

4/19/2025, my husband, daughter and I went there for a few things. 1. The store is disorganized,…read morethey are very all over the place and things seem to be left in piles waiting for someone to come put things away in isles. 2. They are short staffed, there's always a long line. 3. Customer service from this ONE lady was terrible, she was rude, not pleasant at all. We purchased a good amount of items and after she scanned them all she looked at us sort of dismissing us. We asked about bags and she said "you're supposed to pay for them...5 cents" and we said, "ok, we will.." she put most of the heavy things in a brown paper bag and proceeded to move the bag closer to us letting us know we don't have to pay, we can go ahead and leave. Very distasteful, she never offered us bags to begin with, how is one to assume the bags are available only if you are paying for them? Why did she assume we were going to carry all of the items by hand to the vehicle? She could have at the very least offered bags given the amount of items we had on the counter. Because of people like her, companies like Family Dollar lose customers.

Family Dollar can be such a great store when you combine their low prices with coupons and store…read morepromotions. While this particular location may not be the most appealing from the exterior (way down in the ditches of East Dedham), it serves a purpose and need for the area. I really like it since it's the only one in the area... I would have to drive into Boston to find another one if I desired. Anyway, the Dedham location sits along the east side of town on Bussey Street. The store is located on Bussey, but is in a space situated below street level, with a ramp leading down. Whenever I tell people about the store, I call it "the basement store". Yet, don't be scared to stop by. The store itself doesn't draw an ugly clientele, and there really aren't too many people throughout the store at any given time. While it might not always be the most organized or clean, it's good enough for a cheap, discount store. This store is large for a store of this type, with thirty two aisles precisely, and has a large section of everything from seasonal items, to food, to clothing (not the best thing to buy here, but they still have it), to cleaning, to storage, and so on and so on. Prices are consistently reasonable, and it is always a better idea to stop here instead of CVS down the street if you're looking for a better deal on essentially anything. Make sure before you come here to sign up for the rewards on their website and clip coupons to your account, then when you go to checkout you put in your phone number and the savings all get taken off. While the e-coupons don't work at other places, Family Dollar is one place that all the coupons have just worked. Staff are relatively quiet, but friendly typically. All in all, it's a good discount store, and the only one in the area. 5 stars.
