Amazing Hallmark store…read more Definitely one of the best shops in the Village Shoppes in Canton. By far. Incredible staff, variety, size, parking, service. The staff were more than friendly and extremely helpful, especially Chris, one of the managers, who is amazing. The store was extremely organized and very large, for a Hallmark Store. They had an incredible amount of gifts, and a great clearance section. There were (literally) millions of cards, and SO much stuff out for Christmas (really? It's only October!). Incredible store I look forward to returning to in the future. Definitely another great place for gifts, and at this time of year, the holidays are quickly approaching.

But for the most part, they recognize that a solid browse is usually needed before you'll be ready to check out up front. I admit, once I find my books I always (always!) take a right turn before checkout to do a solid walk-thru of the papers, calendars, binders, candy- everything yu need to have cool, pretty things on your desk or bookcase. And theyy get me every time. I ike that you can put a book aside to pick up and pay in store. Some times I'm not 100% sure that I'm buying the book I want, so it's handy to not have to pre-pay for a pickup. The selections on the tables up front are usually fairly interesting - mysteries, current releases, popular titles. There's always something there that I haven't read, or a great gift idea. Yep, people still like to give and get real paper books! While I keep a dozen or so ready-loaded on my Kindle, my first love are books that stay with you and I'm always gifting one to someone who I know still reads, or is learning to read, or doesn't know that they need to READ A DAMN BOOK! Because I'm only there to help! Go. Listen to a story time. Attend an author event. Or get a Starbucks at the counter and grab a table. There are many worse ways to spend some time quieting your mind.

When I happened upon the Barnes & Noble at Derby St Shops, I came to realize that I had somehow been mentally convinced that there were no more open locations. So this was a pleasant surprise! Like a dive-bar, this is a dive store. You get the picture. This chain or one just like it has…read moretaken hold all across America and I am not sure what that tells us but I am thinking it is something to pay attention to. When you walk in here you can immediately sense an undercurrent of despair. It's hard not to feel sad for the state of affairs related to US consumerism on many levels which helps create such a glut of second rate merchandise. With that said, I have a like-hate relationship with this place because there are those times I am pleased enough to buy a few things for not much money. Have I rescued the merchandise though or have I just added more junk into the community at large? It's hard to be sure. Some of the items I buy are paper goods. In general I loathe eating off of paper plates or plastic plates. But there are times I do need them and at least with the paper goods, Dollar Tree has a good selection in many colors. Starting in the fall the Christmas merchandise starts to appear. This is where I have started to buy Christmas gift bags and decorative boxes of which they always have a great assortment. Skip the wrapping paper because it is thin and cheap but the bags and boxes are a great way to festively package up gifts. We were going to be staying in a cottage a couple of summers ago and were uncertain whether there would be ample plates and glasses. So I came to this Dollar Tree and purchased 8 quite sturdy white ceramic plates, an assortment of drinking glasses including some ridiculously heavy but certainly quite usable wine stems. All this for just a few dollars and we were happy to leave everything behind at the cottage when we left. That felt like a score. They also sell glass platters and bowls here which I've purchased for the express purpose of using when I bring food or a baked good to a friend or neighbor. The recipient can keep the bowl or platter, I don't have to worry about getting something more precious back to me and I avoid the tacky look of wrapping something in foil. For a dollar an item it is hard to beat the practicality of this idea. Dollar Tree has other kitchen items like pots and pans, baking sheets, dishtowels, pot holders and the like. Again maybe okay if you're temporarily outfitting a vacation rental but other than that I think this stuff will never hold up and therefore not worth it even for a dollar. There are some toys and games mostly ones you've never heard of, coloring books and other children's items. There are crayons but not Crayola however in a pinch I am sure they would be fine. There is packaged food for sale including some questionable items in cans which I can't imagine being brave enough to try but I know people do purchase them and are perhaps relieved to have a food option at this price point...sad but an unfortunate reality of hunger in America. There are pet toys and dog and cat food...again, the provenance of these items is questionable and I would not purchase. There is a layer of dust on many things here, a faint musty odor in the air, hit or miss service at the registers which are never properly staffed and often very long lines at the checkout. But for that occasional item, Dollar Tree is A-OK if indeed you can get in and out before a sense of gloom and despondency overtakes you. Keep hand sanitizer in your car or purse as you will probably want to use it after handling so much dusty merchandise.

Stepping across the threshold into this place is extremely overwhelming and borderline harassment…read more Aside from the overwhelming smells of thousands of scents, a sales associate immediately targets you and asks you if you want a "hand demo". Where they slather on the lotion onto your hand tersely. The management here always seems to be communicating through the ear pieces of the next customer to target. Unfortunately with retail it also seems apparent that they profile their demographic to determine who will be the people more likely to spend more when they are busier during the sales. I would prefer going to regular department stores and shopping in peace, or Yankee Candle for fragrances.

My goal was an item that was on sale according to the Target app. I managed to locate the proper…read moresection in the store, but said item was MIA. Not even an empty spot with a sale tag forlornly showing how they were sold out. Fortunately I was able to make due with an updated version of the same, same brand I was looking for, but just for a little more money. I picked it up and went on my way. The store seemed good sized with a garage and a parking lot out front where Tesla electric car stations lined one side. Not sure what else besides the Target is located at The Shoppes at Page Pointe, cause I didn't head any further in.

I like to shop for things like these at Target since they usually have better selection and brands than Walmart or other discount store. The store was very well kept and vey clean when I visited. It'zaparty has been my go to place for balloons for the past few years. I usually get one or two…read moreclusters of balloons to put on either side of doorways for special events. The last few times I've gotten the balloons, they've lasted less than 10 hours. It was a little disappointing, but I thought this is probably standard. A week ago I needed two clusters of balloons again. So I went to my favorite balloon store. I happened to mention to the young ladies behind the counter about noticing how short of a time the balloons last. One of the young ladies asked, "you don't get the spray inside of the balloons?" I was intrigued so I asked, "what spray?" She explained that there is a pump spray that they put in the balloons before inflating them that will help the balloons to last 24 hours instead of 8 to 10 hours as I had experienced. it was a few cents more per balloon. But I thought, "what the heck? Why not?" I purchased my balloon clusters on a Friday at four in the afternoon. It is now the following Thursday at four in the afternoon. A full seven days. The balloons are still inflated, still bright and colorful, and still impressive. A little bit of the shine has gone. But that's not a big deal. I'm so happy they told me about the spray. It has made a huge difference. From now on, I will always get the spray to make sure the balloons last this long and possibly longer! Do yourself a favor when buying balloons at It'zaparty and spend the extra few cents for the spray. Thank you It'zaparty!

This is a locally owned shop in charming downtown Hingham. It is well worth a visit…read more In the spirit of "shopping local" this holiday season in particular, a friend and I stopped in recently. They sell an array of very reasonably priced goods: clothes, outerwear, purses, totes, jewelry, knick-knacks. I think it would be pretty easy to find something pretty and fun for people on the average holiday shopping list. There are plenty of gift ideas for stocking stuffers too as well as items that might be nice as hostess gifts. I bought two "evil eye" necklaces here...one for me and one as a gift. The woman running the store was a sweetheart, chatting with us and offering help. They do gift wrapping here which is a plus. I plan to return next week to see if they have any additional items that might help me tick off a couple of more things on my holiday shopping list. It is definitely worth a visit. And if you haven't visited downtown Hingham, I think it's always a treat to do so.

This location is a bit more older looking, not renovated but still has similar things to others. I often don't find things here & get my steps in, whenever I go.
