Let me first say that we should not give every buisiness a get by using the crutch of "Covid"
as an excuse for not doing the job they are in buisiness to do .
Covid has been going on now for the past 3 years. So let's get past this using Covid as an excuse. The Savers in West Roxbury is a poor excuse for even what they consider themselves to be which is a "Thrift store" . Anyone who has been going to Savers for ; lets say anywhere from 5 to 10 years will tell you that the prices have gone from reasonable thrift store prices to
absolutely outrageous prices that near retail prices. Savers management ,all the way up to
the CEO of the company can try as they may ,to somehow legitimize and find excuse for the greed they perpetrate upon
their customers, but the fact of the matter is that there is no excuse ; not Covid related, not inflation, not unavailability to
workers that out looking for employment. Let's look at the make-up of The Savers Corporation and how they came to be. Under the guise
of starting a "green" company
they take in second hand goods
donated by the surrounding communities at a cost to the company of "0" . They do not send out trucks to pick up the merchandise they put on the shelves. It is transported to their stores by the donors and
in turn for the donation you can
receive a 20% discount coupon
as well get a tax deduction for the valuation of donated goods,
but they will not put a valuation
on the item or items; that's up to you to do on your own tax forms. Another thing about savers is they pick and choose
what they are willing to take from their contributors. While
I can understand they don't want trash , I've witnessed many times; them turn away perfectly saleable items. The saying "beggars can't be choosers" doesn't apply when it comes to Savers. So the stores take in all of these contributions and in the managers' infinite wisdom decide what outrageously high price they think they can get away with and price it accordingly. Another thing that Savers does not do is to reduce the price on merchandise when it sits out on the floor for more than a week or so. When an item does not sell after whatever specified time they've
decided to leave it on the floor, guess where it goes? Into the trash! So all of these well intentioned people who give to Savers thinking that their donations are going to get a second life or kept out the landfills are mistaken. You would think a company that's
all about being green would have recycling bins for glass ,
paper, metals , but again you would be wrong. The Savers Corporation
would rather fill dumpster after dumpster with these recyclables than have anyone else profit from the things people donate to their stores.
This is their policy. They won't even give their employees a single item that's headed for the dumpster no matter how menial the item is. Savers is like
the grinch who stole Christmas.
Not so much as a crumb left behind for the hungry. It's
all about them , their profits and their stockholders. The managers that run these stores
for corporate are the antithesis
of task masters. They do the bidding of corporate and abide
by no rules. Talk to any of these
store managers and you'll find they have no managerial skills whatsoever. They treat their
employees with distain and indifference ,as well their customers too. They look down
on most all who cross their path. In their minds they are superior and can do or say anything they want without
repercussions or having to explain themselves. They can
accuse the customer of stealing
without so much as a shred of proof. They can up the prices of merchandise at the point of sale at the register when they
have a bias against particular
races of people ( I won't say what race ,only to say it begins
with A and ends with an N.)
I say this because of my own observations of how these people have been treated. I guess management feels they can get away with this sort of
discrimination because they know there is usually a language barrier as well they tend not defend themselves.
In 10 years of shopping at many
Savers stores I've seen it all .
From the employees to the management ,corruption of every kind. No one calls them out for it. So the next time you go to a Savers keep in mind that this a " for profit" company
and that the only value you hold for management when you enter into these stores is the money they want from your pocket and nothing more.
And if you step out of line in anyway they find objectionable,
you'll be shown the door. Doesn't matter if they are the
ones who started the problem.
You will be the one to suffer the consequences of their actions. read more
