A classic thrift shop, with a lot of random stuff and kind of cramped for space. Fun to poke around in. Clothing is organized by size, but not by details: long sleeved, short sleeved, button-down, pullover etc. Not a huge deal, it just means a little more digging. Which happens in pretty much every thrift store ever. Lost 1 star because there's only 1 changing room. read more

I was looking for thrift stores in the area and was pleasantly surprised by Sister Thrift! It's very small and when busy, can be a little hard to move around in. However, the selection is awesome! Plenty of mens and women's clothes, lots of shoes, and many miscellaneous items if you need them. Have gotten comfy clothes, work clothes, etc from here and always satisfied. I really hate that the local Savers don't have fitting rooms so I'll go to Sister Thrift any day! The staff who work there are very kind, friendly and willing to help. This shop is packed with all sorts of Knick knacks to fulfill your treasure-hunting, house-cluttering fantasies. While the square footage is rather small, I always find enough to easily spend half an hour there. The staff is generally very nice, bubbly and helpful- provided you interact with them in-person & nowhere near closing time. Should you be so unfortunate as to enter the store within 15 minutes of closing time, you'll be greeted with a super angry glare and verbal warning that there is X time left till they close. X = ((actual time left) - (5 minutes). Expect a premature closing announcement (about five minutes before the actual closing time). Employees yell as if the store is packed full of people (even if you're the only one in the store). The abrasiveness is a stark contrast to their daytime alter egos, so don't waste your time trying to rectify the two. Also, they have NO interest in offering any help on the phone other than giving the store hours. Regardless, if you DO visit.. you'll find hidden items for sale under the racks and prepare for gouging prices on children's books. read more

Sometimes I refer to Sister Thrift as my "sister" to my husband. We buy and re-donate when we are done. Husband: "Maybe we can buy XYZ?" Me: "Let me see if I can borrow it from Sisters..." Or "Thanks to Sister, we have XYZ". Of course, I buy the item! But since the money goes to a great cause and the staff are really kind, it feels good to buy things there. Also, the customers all wear their masks which is actually amazingly cool. "Sister" has some really great stuff! And once, I saw a "date" happen at the store which I thought was endearing. *update - the owner contacted me which I greatly appreciate, for that I increased a star. We will give another shot at a little store we have always enjoyed* wish I could give mixed stars. I donate a few times a month, stuff of mine and my daughters that she outgrows. We sometimes look around and find fun things. Clothes, books and today a doll. Never had any complaints. It's tiny and full of stuff but that's fine. What's not fine is the attitude of one employee. One woman was in such a huff today she hit me in the back with a box she was carrying. Oh well I didn't say anything because it's small and crowded and was probably and accident and she didn't notice. Then that same woman was walking carrying stuff and while we were near the checkout tripped over something my daughter was holding and knocked into some glasses. A glass fell and broke. My 4 year old old said "what happened?" And I said "a glass just fell over, its ok we will clean it up." The employee very rudely said, "well if we are being honest i tripped over the bat you are swinging around." Alright lady. Now rude to me is one thing but rude to my four year old and you can take a hike. I told her there was no reason to be rude, she tripped over something my daughter was holding and if we were in her way at the checkout she could have said excuse me. She huffed off. Two other customers agreed with me. I'll donate elsewhere from now on. And will shop elsewhere as well. You might hate your job but don't take it out on a little kid. I personally adore this little thrift store. First of all, your purchases support a local no-kill cat shelter. Secondly, they've got a bunch of surprisingly nice finds stuffed into that tiny little place. Thirdly, their prices tend to be really great - winter coats for less than 10 bucks? Yes, please! The designer stuff that the stuff has noticed does get priced higher though - for example I found a Dooney and Bourke purse that was priced at around $30, whereas the purses are generally around $6. All in all, Sister Thrift is a wonderful place to spend some time treasure hunting. My one gripe is that the aisles are packed so close together that it's an absolute mission to get past other customers, especially on a busy day. If they would change up the layout of the store a little bit, I'd be spending hours here! read more

I only live about 1 mile from here but never seem to stop while going to or from Russo's. My Yelp friend, Frannie, is a bit of a thrift shop and antique pro, so we came here to discover hidden treasures. OK, maybe treasures is a bit of an exaggeration but I thought they had decent stuff. Today, scarfs were on sale for 99 cents and I found a really pretty, knitted blue one. I also found a Coldwater Creek black and white jacket for about $5. I also scored a doggie sweater for my neighbor's (always shaking) Chihuahua. One thing I scoped out that I will be back for were girl's skates. My little one just got interested in going skating but not as a sport, just for fun. They had a bunch in really good condition for about $5. I also saw a $10 trunk (have seem them starting at $50) in great shape and perfect for my kid when she goes to sleep away camp. read more

Definitely a fan. Out of all of the thrift stores in the area that I've visited (okay, this includes Waltham, Cambridge, Sommerville and Allston) this one has the nicest staff. Sound like a relatively minor point? You'd be surprised what a difference such a thing makes when you find yourself wallowing in a large pile of clothes from an unknown origin, looking for a place to change... Reviewing a thrift store is not like reviewing a restaurant. I can't critique based upon flavor, or prompt service (or more importantly, the booze selection). What I can comment on, however, is the niceness of the people working there and the general quality of the items available. Last time I was there, there was a genuine Coach purse sitting on the counter available for $14.00 in great condition. Too bad I don't wear Coach. They also have a decent selection of furniture which tends to hang out near the front of the room, and a rather overstuffed $1 rack. I tend to gravitate toward this store when a.) I have a car and b.) I'm in the area simply because of the eclectic quality of the items I find there each time. White faux-fur jacket for $8? Cute houndstooth skirts in funky colors? AND Transformers cups? Being somewhat of an urban digger, I find that setting aside some time to poke around in this quirky little store is usually worth it. read more

I love Sister Thrift. Because I live and work nearby I stop in frequently and also donate on a regular basis. My only complaint is about parking. It's so frustrating. There are so few spaces and it's awkward to drive into many of them (over a curb). I am sure they've tried negotiating with neighboring businesses to obtain more spaces, but it doesn't seem that that's been successful. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to stop in but drive away because the small parking lot is full. Sure hope this changes someday. read more

This thrift store is packed floor to wall (sorry, not ceiling) with a range of boring to moderately interesting to awesome stuff. The prices are really reasonable overall. I thought 5.49 for any "shirt" was a bit much for something plain or simple but for either higher quality or embellished or more interesting things, that'a great! i saw a number of clothing items with their original tags... (oooo!!!) great books and shoes. (cannot resist!) great seasonal and holiday items. purses, tons (they were nice). really nice, engaging and helpful staff. I was underwhelmed by this place, though I did buy a pair of sunglasses, and my friend got a shirt and some books. It's small, and most of the clothing I saw was from Old Navy, Walmart or Target. Shirts are $5.49 -- I had a couple of long-sleeved tees I was going to buy, but that's too much for something I could get new for $8-10. Because it's a thrift store, though, the inventory could be awesome tomorrow. I do love that proceeds benefit a cat shelter. I left a donation. read more

I don't suggest parking in Watertown Square and walking. I suggest you drive and park there - though I worked off most of my breakfast this way today. This place is packed with amazing things - some creepy things too (underware in a basket?! bras in a basket?! eew.) but easy enough to avoid. If I were a collector of salt and pepper shakers, this would be an ideal place for me. I got 3 pairs of jeans, two shirts and paid about 26 bucks for all that. My little sister got some shades, a shirt, two LOTR figurines (yes...mmhmm...) for 7 bucks. The customers seem to come in everyday - I heard people greeted in a very familiar manner. It was really cute. The xmas music got to me a little bit, but it's a great find. read more

I always find something to buy, either clothes for me or an item for resale. Some of my favorite pieces of clothing have been found on their over -stuffed racks...you never know what will pop out. Check out the purses as well. I found a wonderful vintage french dress and great summer tops on one of my stop-bys. The people who work there are helpful and gracious. I often do a big donate from my store or garage, and they are always willing to help with the heavy boxes, which is grealty appreciated. Not worth driving to if you are not a local resident. Best clothes are athletic wear for approximately $7 and jeans for $10. Otherwise, mostly out-dated clothing made of synthetic fabrics. Old cups, plates, etc. and holiday decorations. Coffee & waffle makers at very low prices. read more

Scored an Ann Taylor camel colored cashmere sweater here for about $5. And a matching set of off-white wool gloves and hat for $4. When I visited, the clothes seemed higher quality than most thrift stores and the people manning the cash register were friendly. Check out the $1.99 rack in the back. I found a cute spring dress (as it's getting colder and no one was thinking spring) in between the of knee length shorts and dubious wife beater tanks. All of the stuff is priced per item (shirts, jeans, pants, etc.) regardless of how nice it is, so it's a huge bargain when you strike gold. I hope I get this lucky all the time. The racks were full, so it was a little hard shuffling through everything, but that's all part of the hunt. It's a little out of the way and not really around much else. It is close to a bike path so it'll be nice to take little weekend bike trips and shop there when it's warm enough to. I will be back. read more

Unlike other reviewers, I wasn't impressed by this place. I think I was thrown off by the smell of the place and the dim lighting. I hate dim lighting when shopping!!! Anyway, aside from my own pet peeve, the place is chock full of items and is very well organized. It is definitely worth a visit, and who knows? Maybe one of these days, I'll be back. read more

I really want to love this place. Despite having a large selection of pretty much everything, i had very little luck. The clothes were a little too pricey for the quality. However some of the finds were priceless; case in point: my joey fatone mini teddy bear (with not one but two hoop earings!). The people who work there are really friendly, always a plus in my book. Went here today just to browse and look for some things to use in my crafts, so I wasn't purusing the clothing section. However, their miscellaneous other items are fabulous and about as cheap as they come. There isn't much junk and I don't think I saw anything priced above $9.99, including a TV stand in mint condition and some other furniture pieces. I left with a mirror tray for my vanity which is beautiful and was $5, a frame I plan on painting and reusing for $3, and a nice lamp for $4. Very happy with this store and will definetley be back! read more

Sister Thrift is always packed full of stuff and I like that about it! Nice purses, some good household items and the occasional score of jewelry. The people that work there are always pleasant and hard at work, sorting through new bags of donations. If you bring stuff to drop off as a donation they give you a discount when you purchase something that day (maybe 10% or so). What I also really like is that the two sisters that founded this place give most, if not all of the profits to an animal shelter/charity. This is my go to spot to drop off post yard sale goodies that didn't sell! Only con -limited parking! read more

Staff is friendly, polite and helpful! Which to anyone who goes thrifting, is not always the case. Prices are great, store is small and full of things, but clean. It can be a bit of sensory overload, trying to take everything in. Small space and tight parking sometimes, but well worth it. You may have to pull in and actually wait for someone to pull out to get a spot, but I do it all the time, no big deal. Variety is great, from pet supplies, kids stuff, books, shoes, clothing, household items, furniture, storage, jewelry, electronics, vinyl records, pictures/art, etc... Something for everyone, closed on Sunday and Monday. I just pickd up a ghost for outside that is plastic and about 4 ft tall. All for the bargin price of $4.99. I got my kids holloween costumes there. I have picked up new shoes, jackets, shelving, prints, movies and more from there. Somedays I leave empty handed, but that is part of thrifting, you have to know when it is not your day. And then go back tomorrow, to see if they put out something I may need. read more
