One of the larger Dollar Trees in the area, this store has a generous selection of all the common goods that you're looking for. In particular, the holiday decoration section has a large selection of previous, current, and future holidays -- often times with additional selections that you don't find in other local Dollar Tree stores. read more

If you go to Dollar Tree Store and know what you're looking for, you can find some great bargains. My husband and I went in looking for a few decorations for Saint Patrick's Day. Once we found the area we were looking for, we were able to find some cute decorations that liven up our house. Dollar Tree Store is also our go to store to shop for greeting cards. They are so much less expensive here for something that doesn't get a lot of use. There were no lines at the registers and the check out process was quick and painless. I highly recommend Dollar Tree Store to find some great bargains. read more

I bought 2 apple gift cards one I owned at home and the code was ripped and we went back to the store and they said they can do nothing so we called apple and did all the stuff and when I went back to buy another one the SAME DAY SAME HOUR it was the same I don't think this is a coincidence but I do think this is on purpose because 2 times? and say u can't do anything for a 10$ gift card and have us buy 2 which comes out to 20$ they still didn't want to do anything and I have to wait for up to 14 days to get my money on my acc and I have 7 days to get this limited item now I can't get it all because they are all stupid and scammers and had bad management and while a employee was at a cash register he just walked off while we were in line and didn't come back for 10 min just to put us a closed sign crazy and never buying any gift cards from them FIX UR STORE AND DONT RIP THE REDEEM CODE NEXT TIME! read more

It's a place to go when you need something quick like a birthday bag or stuff you don't really care how it looks or what brand it is! It's a quick run in and out kinda shopping! The service was good and they have sanitizers right by the front door! Everyone was wearing face masks so I felt safe here! They have St. Patrick's Day stuff here! So if you have more time, I am sure you can spend hours roaming around! read more

You really need to update your hours on your website it says 8:00 but when you go there on their door it says 9:00 make up your mind do the employees make up their own hours when they want to get there maybe management should do something read more

every single time I go here there is an absolutely ridiculous wait to check out because they seemingly refuse to have more than one person working at a time and the employees they do have don't know what the words "efficiency" or "time management" mean read more

Decent selection and some surprisingly good finds for a dollar store, especially in the floral section. Came in for something else, but left with the perfectly browned moss I needed for a centerpiece along with some twine. However, the employees are unfriendly and I didn't even get a "hi" or "have a nice day" at the checkout even when I took the time to greet the cashier (who could greet the woman before me, just not me), and when I thanked her and smiled, she literally looked at me with a blank stare as if she were dead inside. I'm all about good customer service, and this Dollar Tree doesn't have that. read more

Absolute worst dollar tree store ever. I ordered an online order that had all expired goods so the manager said he would cancel the order and refund. After several attempts, no response and no money back. Then covid hit so I didn't want to stop by in the store and tried to escalate this to corporate and they did not handle my issue well at all. Their response was along the lines of "the manager does not remember" and "we cannot give money back for there was no item to return." Their paper trail is terrible and documentation is a joke. Horrendous customer service and the manager just wanted the sales $$ so corporate can side with them. Do not support this business. Do not go to this store. They do not honor their own policies and will steal your money if they can. See pics for email exchanges. read more

I walked into the store and the front end looked nice and stocked. As we went down each aisle. We saw more and more out of stock, Not cleaned and boxes where blocking paths to force one person in a line. When we got to the checkout, There was one person running the registers, Yet 9 people in line. The manager was in office (Could see them in the window) did not come out to help. The Persian who was ringing up was not in uniform, Nore could i see his name tag as it was hidden on his left side and did not see it till my wife and I walked out. This guy did not say two words outside the basic script, Very cold to us. This guy did not smile to us, Offer anything extra. Or even make eye contact with us. I feel the dollar tree has been going down more and more as they cut their staff and expect more from less. Truth be told, I bet you they will not read or respond to this. read more

First off, it's the Dollar Tree. So while everything is a dollar, also know that is the same quality of what a dollar can buy you. That said, I do like coming here for cheap holiday decorations and what not. From Halloween to the 4th of July, they always have some fun stuff that my young boys enjoy for the holiday. They also have cheap toys and coloring books. So on a winter day when we're looking for an excuse for a change in scenery, we come here where they can spend a dollar that they have earned. I've never bought any of the cleaning supplies etc. so I can't speak to that part of the store. read more

Typical Dollar Tree store. Everything is a dollar. The store could use a facelift as everything seems pretty outdated and the lights are rather dim. The workers generally seem like they have disdain for their jobs and reflect that on their customers. It's convenient and cheap. read more

I've been here a few times now and the male worker harassed me. he even touches you and is very creepy. I threatened to call the police cause he wouldn't stop. it was weird and not right. the other workers just stood and watched. read more

Showed up 10min before closing. Workers laughed as I knocked on the door. Then proceeded to hide out of sight. Unbelievable

I came here to pick up a few items and this store was unfreaking believeable because the dollar tree store near my home was trashed with items strewn everywhere, and some even removed from their packaging. This store was immaculate not a thing out of place and it was clean so clean you could walk through aisles and not tripping over stuff that people's ratty kids toss everywhere. Not to mention the staff was very friendly and asked if I found everything ok and that's what many customers want is service that starts at the door. It's sad that some locations of Dollar Tree especially in certain neighborhoods have turned to crap, but this one gets 5 stars for professionalism and cleanliness. read more

Giving one star is more than this store deserves. It has one of the worst managers I have ever come across. Remember the saying "The Customer Is Always Right?" Not when it comes to the incompetent, cold, arrogant manager in this store. He basically accused me of lying when I brought to his attention that there is a problem with ice crystals forming on some of the frozen novelties. Not a store to patronize until this manager is gone. There are too many qualified people out there who would do a better job as store manager. I have now had 3 people write to me saying they have also had problems with Nick. I hope Dollar Tree execs read these messages and do something about him. Glad the new store in Buffalo Grove is opening on 3/17/12. Too bad they opened it in Cook County, rather than Lake, for tax purposes. In such a bad economy, every penny makes a difference. read more

I always find what I need and the customer service has always been great for me--at least three different employees on different days have walked me around the store to find something. It's a great place for wrapping paper, cheap holiday decorations, and glassware to name a few things. read more

It's a nice store. You can find a lot of seasonal stuff here. Everything for $1.00 most of time you are in & out very quickly but sometimes on weekends it can be a little long to get through check out line. read more

For a dollar store they do at time carry name brand stuff. Great place to get wrapping paper and gift bags. The lines do get long but they do try to keep up with them. They even except coupons on name brand items that are already a dollar ! read more

Went to this store to buy some dollar items. The clerk scanned one of my items twice and then told me how he couldn't refund or credit any money even though it was his fault. At the same time they were scamming another lady by double charging her. Even though it's a cheap, dollar store- nobody likes to get ripped off! read more

I find some of these reviews hard to believe. I have nothing but the highest rating about this location. This is, by far, the cleanest, neatest, most organized Dollar Tree store I have shopped in. I almost feel like I wasn't in a Dollar Tree, perhaps because this is a socio-economically advantaged area. This isn't my first time in the particular Dollar Tree either. The store manager has been there since the store opened back in I think 2007 and is always very pleasant and polite even walks you to the item you ask for. Which now a days is kinda a rarity, even the cashier was extremely nice. I didn't know that shopping in a Dollar Tree could be a nicer experience. read more

It is crazy how much you can find here for just a dollar. I don't get any food from here, but I have gotten things like a trash can, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, and even thinks like thank you cards. All for a dollar. But, on the flip side a lot of their stuff is not very good quality as you might imagine because you're getting it for a dollar. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. After the debit card transaction had gone through, their register was broken and wouldn't give a receipt. They told me I would have to put my card in again, but before doing so I checked my bank account on my phone app and it showed that my transaction had already gone through my bank and the money had come out of my account. Even so, they wouldn't let me leave with the items or the cash back I requested (which was also taken out of my bank account). When I spoke with the manager Maria on the phone, she said it was my bank's problem, not the store's problem and then hung up on me. Save yourself the trouble and go to a different store. Rude manager! I had to call my bank to make sure Dollar Tree didn't get my money. read more

Walked in there late evening for Balloons. I walk up to cashier and mention I need balloons. Cashier has an nasty attitude and say pick out the ones you need and I will be over in a minute. I said well can you tell me which ones you have because half of the time you guys are out of what I need. He says yeah your right with attitude again!!! So I am browsing through their selection and I am asking away for balloons and every time he pulls some out he says is that it, is that it, is that it with a huge attitude!!! So a lady walks up to the cash register and no one is around to help the cashier, mind you I hear two people in the office just chit chatting away.. So I tell the cashier to go help the person that I would continue to look for balloons by myself . So I start to pull out balloons and put a few on top of counter. So finally the cashier calls back up. Most have been a manager. He's name was SCOTT! He walks out of office and says which balloons do you need to I am trying to figure out how many and which balloons I needed as I was trying to work a pattern on my balloons. He starts getting mad and sees all the balloons on the counter. He yells over to his cashier if he had made the mess! Literally loud and says " I just had this balloons counter clean and its hug mess again". I say to the manager I took out the balloons as you don't seem to have staff to help out your ONE cashier and he just says oh okay.. Rude and Non- Customer people work here. IF YOU ARE WORKING RETAIL WITH THAT ATTITUDE PLEASE GET OUT OF WORKING FROM THIS FIELD!!! ITS CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! THIS LOCATION NEVER WANTS TO HELP ANYONE!! ITS ALMOST AS IF ITS AN INCONVENIENCE FOR THEM IF ASK THEM FOR HELP!!! POOR MANAGEMENT SKILLS!!! read more

DO NOT.....EVER order on line with this store. After 4 hours over a period of 4 days I have waited for operators to help me with an order that had been promised to me on the 5th of november ONLY to arrive on November 26! In the meantime, I had to reorder the same items (stupid me) prior to me receiving the items later in the day. That evening I spent over an hour waiting for an associate who guaranteed me that he had canceled my 2nd order. Guess what! The second order arrived today and my credit card was charged. I then spent ANOTHER HOUR waiting for an associate to tell me that she can't do anything about this because it's been shipped. Her solution.....(get ready).....is to take the items back to the store where I am to CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AGAIN and wait for the manager to tell me that he/she has received the items. Not only have I had to wait for the original order, then be lied to about the cancel of the second order, now to have to drive to the store and deliver in person the order that was supposed to be cancelled and wait probably another hour for my refund. DO NOT EVER SHOP AT THIS CUSTOMER UN-FRIENDLY STORE!!!! BAD BAD SERVICE read more

Dollar Tree's are great stores to get a good deal on certain things like gift bags and holiday decorations. It is sad that this particular Dollar Tree in Vernon Hills is managed by a very rude and miserable person that can be credited to this one star rating. You will know who he is when you walk in. The first time I came in he ran his merchandise cart into me, and I thought it was an accident but he rolled his eyes and didn't apologize. When I went to check out, he slammed down some products and reluctantly walked over rolling his eyes. Everytime I've been there he is either yelling loudly at another employee in a very demeaning way- or he is rolling his eyes because there is a customer waiting to be checked out. I almost yelled at him when I heard him treating and belittling an employee like a slave.. He is one of those losers in the world that is unhappy with himself and takes it out on others since he feels so high and mighty in his manager postion. I only go in there now when I need something, and when I do come in, I ignore his miserable attitude and realize that he just must be insecure and unhappy. I just feel bad for the other people that work there. read more

Went in for inexpensive Valentine's Day balloons and card. The cashier short changed me and disagreed with me. I'm posting in case this becomes a habit of his and others can be aware of this incident. I understand mistakes happen, and hopefully that's what it was. Next time I'll either use a credit card or exact change if possible. Good luck. Other than today, I've had good experiences at this store. read more

I just had to re- review this store as even though I did contact corporate and even talked to the store boss, Hector, I don't think anything has been done. I don't shop there any more and skip the whole DTS experience (check out Five Below store it's much nicer) Nick (he is a total #$@), the store mgr at the Dollar Tree at 250 Hawthorn Village Commons (rt 60/Townline) in Vernon Hills IL, was so incredibly rude I honestly looked around for hidden cameras. I know, hey, it's a Dollar Store what should I expect right? As I was shopping I saw that there were (no lie) at least 10 people in line to check out and only one register open. I was shopping so no big deal. The manager (Nick) was making balloons for a customer as another customer approached and asked if he would please open another register. Nick's response was - "Does it look like I can open another register?" The gentleman responded "Excuse me?" and again Nick said "Does it look like I can open another register?" Shortly after that another employee opened a register (no thanks to Nick). When I was ready to check out Nick called me to his register (which he had just opened - only 3 people in line now). I asked if he was having a bad day and he said no. I then told him that I thought that I was being punked as he was so incredibly rude to the gentleman! He began to argue with me! Saying that the balloon people were waiting for 15 minutes! I responded that, to say to a customer "Does it look like I can open another register?" Was just rude. His response was on and on about how busy he was. I said "you could have just said - yes, sir one minute please I'll be right there". I said that no one should be talked to like that (especially a customer). He continued to argue with me and raising his voice. I told him that I could not believe that someone would talk to a customer like that and (since he was now yelling at me) I said that Corporate would hear about this. He responded "Good, tell them we need more money at this store". I am still shell shocked. If this were my employee I'd have sent him packing. I know it's the Dollar Tree and you get what you pay for but, anytime you are a customer you should be treated politely, especially if you are going to be spending money (even a dollar). Yes, I know no one will probably read this but, I had to get this out and maybe save someone else from being treated like crap from some teenage "store manager" named Nick. There are more details but I won't go on any more. Yes, I did contact the Corporate office. This happened over a year ago but I just want to warn all others checking this out that this (DTS) is a place to avoid like the plague! read more

I shop for all.bday cards and birthday decoration and a lot of stuff my kids desire when they are with me at Vernon Hills Dollar Tree. I never had a customer service problem of any kind. Today, my daugter and I went to shop there and I left my wallet, yes senior moment, at the register and did not realize it two hours later. Nissie, the girl who rang up my stuff found it after she helped 3 customers so she kept my wallet inside a safe in their office. I truly admire her integrity as well as the other customers after me. If it was somewhere else, my wallet would be gone forever. My hats off to Nissie and Vernon Hills Dollar Tree! read more
