I bought 2 apple gift cards one I owned at home and the code was ripped and we went back to the store and they said they can do nothing so we called apple and did all the stuff and when I went back to buy another one the SAME DAY SAME HOUR it was the same I don't think this is a coincidence but I do think this is on purpose because 2 times? and say u can't do anything for a 10$ gift card and have us buy 2 which comes out to 20$ they still didn't want to do anything and I have to wait for up to 14 days to get my money on my acc and I have 7 days to get this limited item now I can't get it all because they are all stupid and scammers and had bad management and while a employee was at a cash register he just walked off while we were in line and didn't come back for 10 min just to put us a closed sign crazy and never buying any gift cards from them FIX UR STORE AND DONT RIP THE REDEEM CODE NEXT TIME! read more

They are so much less expensive here for something that doesn't get a lot of use. There were no lines at the registers and the check out process was quick and painless. It's a place to go when you need something quick like a birthday bag or stuff you don't really care how it looks or what brand it is! It's a quick run in and out kinda shopping! The service was good and they have sanitizers right by the front door! Everyone was wearing face masks so I felt safe here! They have St. Patrick's Day stuff here! Decent selection and some surprisingly good finds for a dollar store, especially in the floral section. Came in for something else, but left with the perfectly browned moss I needed for a centerpiece along with some twine. However, the employees are unfriendly and I didn't even get a "hi" or "have a nice day" at the checkout even when I took the time to greet the cashier (who could greet the woman before me, just not me), and when I thanked her and smiled, she literally looked at me with a blank stare as if she were dead inside. Absolute worst dollar tree store ever. I ordered an online order that had all expired goods so the manager said he would cancel the order and refund. After several attempts, no response and no money back. Then covid hit so I didn't want to stop by in the store and tried to escalate this to corporate and they did not handle my issue well at all. Their response was along the lines of "the manager does not remember" and "we cannot give money back for there was no item to return." Their paper trail is terrible and documentation is a joke. Horrendous customer service and the manager just wanted the sales $$ so corporate can side with them. Do not support this business. Do not go to this store. I walked into the store and the front end looked nice and stocked. As we went down each aisle. We saw more and more out of stock, Not cleaned and boxes where blocking paths to force one person in a line. When we got to the checkout, There was one person running the registers, Yet 9 people in line. The manager was in office (Could see them in the window) did not come out to help. The Persian who was ringing up was not in uniform, Nore could i see his name tag as it was hidden on his left side and did not see it till my wife and I walked out. This guy did not say two words outside the basic script, Very cold to us. This guy did not smile to us, Offer anything extra. Or even make eye contact with us. First off, it's the Dollar Tree. So while everything is a dollar, also know that is the same quality of what a dollar can buy you. That said, I do like coming here for cheap holiday decorations and what not. From Halloween to the 4th of July, they always have some fun stuff that my young boys enjoy for the holiday. They also have cheap toys and coloring books. So on a winter day when we're looking for an excuse for a change in scenery, we come here where they can spend a dollar that they have earned. I've never bought any of the cleaning supplies etc. so I can't speak to that part of the store. read more

I came here to pick up a few items and this store was unfreaking believeable because the dollar tree store near my home was trashed with items strewn everywhere, and some even removed from their packaging. This store was immaculate not a thing out of place and it was clean so clean you could walk through aisles and not tripping over stuff that people's ratty kids toss everywhere. Not to mention the staff was very friendly and asked if I found everything ok and that's what many customers want is service that starts at the door. It's sad that some locations of Dollar Tree especially in certain neighborhoods have turned to crap, but this one gets 5 stars for professionalism and cleanliness. read more

Giving one star is more than this store deserves. It has one of the worst managers I have ever come across. Remember the saying "The Customer Is Always Right?" Not when it comes to the incompetent, cold, arrogant manager in this store. He basically accused me of lying when I brought to his attention that there is a problem with ice crystals forming on some of the frozen novelties. Not a store to patronize until this manager is gone. There are too many qualified people out there who would do a better job as store manager. I have now had 3 people write to me saying they have also had problems with Nick. I hope Dollar Tree execs read these messages and do something about him. For a dollar store they do at time carry name brand stuff. Great place to get wrapping paper and gift bags. The lines do get long but they do try to keep up with them. They even except coupons on name brand items that are already a dollar ! read more

I find some of these reviews hard to believe. I have nothing but the highest rating about this location. This is, by far, the cleanest, neatest, most organized Dollar Tree store I have shopped in. I almost feel like I wasn't in a Dollar Tree, perhaps because this is a socio-economically advantaged area. This isn't my first time in the particular Dollar Tree either. The store manager has been there since the store opened back in I think 2007 and is always very pleasant and polite even walks you to the item you ask for. I would give zero stars if I could. After the debit card transaction had gone through, their register was broken and wouldn't give a receipt. They told me I would have to put my card in again, but before doing so I checked my bank account on my phone app and it showed that my transaction had already gone through my bank and the money had come out of my account. Even so, they wouldn't let me leave with the items or the cash back I requested (which was also taken out of my bank account). When I spoke with the manager Maria on the phone, she said it was my bank's problem, not the store's problem and then hung up on me. Save yourself the trouble and go to a different store. DO NOT.....EVER order on line with this store. After 4 hours over a period of 4 days I have waited for operators to help me with an order that had been promised to me on the 5th of november ONLY to arrive on November 26! In the meantime, I had to reorder the same items (stupid me) prior to me receiving the items later in the day. That evening I spent over an hour waiting for an associate who guaranteed me that he had canceled my 2nd order. Guess what! The second order arrived today and my credit card was charged. Her solution.....(get ready).....is to take the items back to the store where I am to CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AGAIN and wait for the manager to tell me that he/she has received the items. Walked in there late evening for Balloons. I walk up to cashier and mention I need balloons. Cashier has an nasty attitude and say pick out the ones you need and I will be over in a minute. I said well can you tell me which ones you have because half of the time you guys are out of what I need. He says yeah your right with attitude again!!! So I am browsing through their selection and I am asking away for balloons and every time he pulls some out he says is that it, is that it, is that it with a huge attitude!!! So a lady walks up to the cash register and no one is around to help the cashier, mind you I hear two people in the office just chit chatting away.. So I tell the cashier to go help the person that I would continue to look for balloons by myself . So I start to pull out balloons and put a few on top of counter. So finally the cashier calls back up. Most have been a manager. He's name was SCOTT! He walks out of office and says which balloons do you need to I am trying to figure out how many and which balloons I needed as I was trying to work a pattern on my balloons. He starts getting mad and sees all the balloons on the counter. He yells over to his cashier if he had made the mess! Literally loud and says " I just had this balloons counter clean and its hug mess again". I say to the manager I took out the balloons as you don't seem to have staff to help out your ONE cashier and he just says oh okay.. Rude and Non- Customer people work here. Went in for inexpensive Valentine's Day balloons and card. The cashier short changed me and disagreed with me. I'm posting in case this becomes a habit of his and others can be aware of this incident. I understand mistakes happen, and hopefully that's what it was. Dollar Tree's are great stores to get a good deal on certain things like gift bags and holiday decorations. It is sad that this particular Dollar Tree in Vernon Hills is managed by a very rude and miserable person that can be credited to this one star rating. You will know who he is when you walk in. The first time I came in he ran his merchandise cart into me, and I thought it was an accident but he rolled his eyes and didn't apologize. When I went to check out, he slammed down some products and reluctantly walked over rolling his eyes. Everytime I've been there he is either yelling loudly at another employee in a very demeaning way- or he is rolling his eyes because there is a customer waiting to be checked out. I almost yelled at him when I heard him treating and belittling an employee like a slave.. He is one of those losers in the world that is unhappy with himself and takes it out on others since he feels so high and mighty in his manager postion. I only go in there now when I need something, and when I do come in, I ignore his miserable attitude and realize that he just must be insecure and unhappy. I was shopping so no big deal. The manager (Nick) was making balloons for a customer as another customer approached and asked if he would please open another register. Nick's response was - "Does it look like I can open another register?" The gentleman responded "Excuse me?" and again Nick said "Does it look like I can open another register?" Shortly after that another employee opened a register (no thanks to Nick). When I was ready to check out Nick called me to his register (which he had just opened - only 3 people in line now). I asked if he was having a bad day and he said no. I then told him that I thought that I was being punked as he was so incredibly rude to the gentleman! He began to argue with me! Saying that the balloon people were waiting for 15 minutes! I responded that, to say to a customer "Does it look like I can open another register?" Was just rude. His response was on and on about how busy he was. I said "you could have just said - yes, sir one minute please I'll be right there". I shop for all.bday cards and birthday decoration and a lot of stuff my kids desire when they are with me at Vernon Hills Dollar Tree. I never had a customer service problem of any kind. Today, my daugter and I went to shop there and I left my wallet, yes senior moment, at the register and did not realize it two hours later. Nissie, the girl who rang up my stuff found it after she helped 3 customers so she kept my wallet inside a safe in their office. I truly admire her integrity as well as the other customers after me. If it was somewhere else, my wallet would be gone forever. My hats off to Nissie and Vernon Hills Dollar Tree! read more
