So many people here on the weekend. While this isn't one of my usual stores, we did find everything we needed, and there was lots of variety to choose from. Does this location have cashiers? I noticed the self-checkouts, and we also checked ourselves out at the longer lanes. Still, relatively easy to get around, aisles are well marked. read more

Needed a specific bird food (Cockatiel feed). Didn't want to go all the way to a pet store...tried Target first and struck out...but Walmart had it. Also had for rabbits as well. Ended up picking up some other stuff as well. It's a full grocery store with more freezer sections than a typical super market. read more

I recently had an unforgettable shopping trip to Walmart that I just had to share! Picture this: I'm casually strolling through the aisles, mentally calculating how many snacks I can justify buying, when suddenly, chaos ensues in the frozen food section. Out of nowhere, I hear a distinct sound that could only be a trumpet solo going horribly wrong. Yes, dear readers, it was the unmistakable sound of a fart--an epic, ear-splitting, mighty toot that echoed through the aisles. Just when I thought I'd witnessed peak indignity, I turn to see a lady, completely unabashed, right in the middle of--wait for it--giving birth! In the midst of this miraculous moment, surrounded by bags of frozen peas and ice cream, she was there, inspiring both awe and horror as she waved away the crowd, nonchalantly letting out another toot that had the same impact as a stand-up comic's punchline. Forget "push, push"--this was more like "push, and let it rip!" Now, what's a customer to do? Do I remain frozen in shock or whip out my phone to document the most bizarre birth story? Naturally, I opted for the first option, because really, who wants to be the one taking selfies while a life-changing moment unfolds? As the employees scrambled to find blankets and the manager rallied an impromptu cheer squad, the woman looked as calm as you can be amidst a smell that could wake the dead. I've seen plenty of things at Walmart, but never has my shopping experience been so beautifully chaotic. And just like that, with a final triumphant push and a simultaneously victorious fart, she welcomed a new life into the world amidst the frozen waffles. It was a scene worthy of a sitcom, and honestly, I wouldn't change a thing about it. As for the little one? I'm pretty sure they'll have a great sense of humor about their dramatic entry into existence--after all, they kicked things off with a bang (and a toot)! So, to the brave woman in aisle 3, may your parenting journey be filled with laughter and fewer accidental sound effects. Why would you sell some groceries but no produce? All or nothing IMHO. Options are limited and slow to restock shelves.

So far, trying to get prescriptions filled while traveling has been difficult. The Walmart system isn't as easy to work with as I was lead to believe. Prescriptions needed to be called in again directly from my doctors in NY. Not just transferred in their computer. Plus: their hours are not as posted on Yelp. They are 8/7/23: M-S 9 to 7 PM CDT Sun 10 to 6 PM CDT And the drug I really need is back ordered and the App is telling me they don't have my insurance information. read more

If I could give them a negative rating I would. What is the point of having workers at the front entrance if you're not going to enforce the masks? This place is absolutely ridiculous. Don't even bother telling customer service. It'll fall on deaf ears. Several workers walk past customers with no masks on and don't say a thing. It's quite obvious this is a regular occurrence if they're going to be unphased to this. Yikes! You're better off ordering things online. If you care about your health don't even risk going here. Did you know that despite having signs that say "masks are required" they are actually not? According to Steve the manager of this location, Walmart has to let them shop there still. Over the course of the last year I have rarely come here because of the fact that the lines are extremely long unorganized and the worst part is that they have completely taken out the human aspect of being able to check out. I'm not a big Walmart enthusiast. But when I found a toy for my son that was hard to find actually on their website and I could pick it up in the store rather than pay shipping, I was ready to try it. People. No shipping costs! It's like finding a $20 bill in your pocket jacket that's been sitting there since last fall! I've been in some of the newer Walmarts. My travels sometimes take me to remote areas where Walmart is really the only option. These are bright friendly places. Not the Vernon Hills location. One would expect a certain level of retail in Vernon Hills but this place was not inviting to shop in. First, where was the infamous greeter? Absent! My son had to use the bathroom and came out looking completely traumatized, saying it felt really spooky in there. As the king of using public bathrooms, he has never said anything like that. And we've even had to use gas station bathrooms in a pinch. I hadn't been in this store before but after walking through a couple of the isles, I just wanted to get the things I needed and leave. But I couldn't locate them! So I saw a scarce employee in the isles and asked him. He only spoke Spanish. So on to find another scarce employee. Yep. Only spoke Spanish. I know. I should know a speak another language fluently. But I shouldn't have to search for help only to find out the people working there can't even talk to me. It was like that scene from that movie where the mom wanders aimlessly through a huge store with no employees around and just keeps searching and searching and searching. Oh wait! That was for real! I will say check out was fast. At least there was someone there to take my money. I may do the online thing and pick up at the store again to save money. But other than that, you won't find my mommy jeans in this store again. read more

Buyer Beware. Bought a Black Friday Special on Walmart. $80 off a $250 item. Probably too good of a deal to give out. After taking my online purchase they said the order was delayed. They than cancelled the order. Called Walmart.com. They wouldn't honor the price but gave me a $25 promo code. I tried to use the promo code but the item was no longer available online. (Out of stock). Went into two different Walmart stores they both had the item in stock but neither would honor the Black Friday price. Neither store would accept the promo code because it was Online only. Basically Walmart gave me a useless promo code for the item I wanted to purchase and would not honor their Black Friday special. Plus they took my order and canceled it. Total deception read more

Considering how nice and new lots of the stores in the Vernon Hills area are, I'm a bit surprised that this Walmart doesn't follow a bit more of the upscale trend (the Target nearby is one of the nicest). With that said, this isn't a bad location - with tons of selection at low prices. The store could be a bit better arranged though, but maybe it's the high volume of shoppers which makes it more difficult to maintain perfect order. One of the things I don't like as much about this Walmart though is the parking and traffic layout. Many other locations are a bit more separated from other stores, giving you a much more generous amount of parking and less cross traffic. It isn't too bad here, but it would be nicer when shopping during busy periods if this location was a bit more isolated. read more

A two and a half to three stars like place. It serves my needs for the most part; however, it would benefit greatly from being a Supercenter which it is NOT unlike the name in its title here. THIS IS NOT A SUPERCENTER. The nearest supercenter is in Wheeling and Lake Zurich. I don't go here as much as I go to a supercenter store because of the lack of variety of items/ merchandise compared to a supercenter. However, sometimes for everyday things like toothpaste, toothbrush, soaps, cosmetics, over the counter meds., and few other things, I like to go here. It's inexpensive and taxes are cheaper. I prefer going here over the likes of Osco, Target or Walgreens 'cause the others are pricier than Walmart. I also like the fact that they have two Red Box machines near the entrance of the store. Customer Service Yesterday, I had an awful attitude approach of a Customer Service associate at the Customer Service Counter. When I asked for her name, she would NOT give it to me. Nor did her co-worker share or provide her name. The name tag, was turned over and one could not see the name/s. The Customer Service Supervisor, did not even know the correct spelling of the name. All three ladies said "what do you need?" HOW ABOUT "how can I help you?" - doesn't it sound more appropriate and polite? I do not like to give negative reviews BUT, some workers should be retrained in approach and mannerism before serving customers at any store. Very unpleasant experience returning a phone today. From being told they don't except online returns, to telling me that I was too late to return it, to the customer service representative actually judging me for paying $800 for a phone. Eventually the return worked but I don't see myself ever using the in store return option anymore. Very unfriendly customer service reps! read more

Came here to make a return of some water shoes. Never worn and tied together with tags. I bought a few pairs because I didn't know which ones my husband and step-don would like. They can not take them back at this time due to covid and I should just hold on to them and wait until they can take returns again. ( But they don't know when that will be) Apparently this has been the policy since March. So if you need any clothes or shoes be sure of the size and fit because you cannot returns these items at this time. I was able to return some water shoes I purchased at Target recently with no problems. They may be a bit more flexible on the return policy or I just got lucky. The employees were really nice about it but it was a little frustrating. I wish they would have had signs up by the shoes explaining the updated policy. read more

Walmart service is horrible. They dont care about there customers. Bought bluetooth from walmart site and they came as being reported as lost/stolen to Apple. So went to go return them at Store #1489 in Vernon Hills @6:15 PM CST on 11/20/20. Nakayla @ customer service saw the box and the barcode walmart.com gave. Now on Walmart.com does not say that you have to box it up in orginal box and packaging that it was shipped in to return to store. She was rude go home get your box and packaging so they can take the return back. So I ask for CSM(Casandra) stated we can ship this without the box. But Nakayla didnt want to do the return. Instead she is like we need the box. So CSM goes to find me a box but she still didnt want to do the return. So I asked for Store Manger and she stated Manager already left for the day. So i was ok will do my shopping. Funny 10 mins later see the store manager with HR manager walking by to the back of the store. So I asked another csm and she stated GM is going to be working till close. I was like really lying by Nakayla. And when I asked her for her Name she is like its kayley so she was intentionally trying to get someone else in trouble. So went to buy my Blackfriday Stuff, at first could not find it but walmart.com said 17 of Hover vaccum in stock and 6 of Air fryer in stock. But when I found it price was incorrect. So I went back to CSM to see if they will match it. But they are like our website is wrong and we cant match it. Plus our customer service does not know what they are doing, but we cant match our corporate listing price. It sounded like what franchise store would say to their customers. On top of that when walking out of the store saw Nakayla walking out so it made it look like she was about to punch out for either BREAK OR LUNCH is the reason why she didnt want to help. Worst experience from walmart. I would not recommend anyone to go to store #1489 to go they are lyers in there and they probably dont care about customer service. I'm going to escalate it BBB about this poor service. Plus this location does not force there employees to wear masks. Walmart said on news they have best customer service and they will compete with Amazon. After this experience yeah right. This store is terrible. The selection is very limited and the staff is the worst. There is always a huge line with very few lines opened. This location is one of the worst that I have ever been to. The one in Wheeling is the best. You can never find staff on the floor if you have a question. One time I walked around the whole entire store for about 10 minutes and couldn't find someone to help. Another time when I was there I found someone, but they brushed me off and told me that they do not work in that department and walked away. The lines get very long, I am talking about, they open up at most 2 or 3 registers and let the lines go as long at the pharmacy. The service is slow, and the cashiers just don't care. Credit cards often do not swipe, no matter how new or scratched up they are. The organization on the floor is nonexistent, there is a lot of mess and a lot of times products are located in different spots than the week before. I feel like the Walmart in Wheeling has a better organization, faster lines, cleaner, more spacious and just overall better. Yea I come here only for paper towels, toilet paper, laundry and dishwasher stuff and random toiletry essentials, but I wish I didn't need to come here ever :( read more

Meh. I try to avoid WalMart at all costs since I don't enjoy their business practices (not this one specifically but in general). Also, the shopping experience here is not fun at all. The store despite having undergone a remodel is very basic and bland. The only advantage is the low prices. So, I have regulated my trips to WalMart for things like cleaning supplies and laundry detergent. On a rare occasion I will buy food but it's always packaged stuff. The good: Staff Prices Return policy The Bad stuff, Please, please, remodel this place. It is atrocious. I have never been in a Walmart that was so bad. It is old, cramped, grocery sucks. The produce section is like a center isle display, why even bother. Hours are ridiculous. Closes at midnight. I thought they were all open 24 hours a day. Where else am I supposed to get plan B at 3am? This place needs to turn into a normal Walmart. 24 hours a day, produce section, fresh meat section. Let's be real, I have never seen a Walmart that received more than 2 stars on Yelp. To be fair, this location is ok, I have seen much worse. The boxes at the hair dye sections are ripped, if I were you, I'd double check to make sure something is not missing from the inside before a purchase. I just left the target that is on Towline that is about 2 blocks up and came here to do a price comparsion. Women's basic Venus cartridges are about 8 cents cheaper here, carrots about 12 cents cheaper, hair dye about 7 cents cheaper for the John Freida brand, egg plants are 62 cents a lb. Overall, you save a couple cents here and there if you come to walmart for sure. However, I also went to the gardening section, was looking for miracle growth potting mix, for some reason the bag is $7.45 or something outrageous like that for a small bag, which sells for $4.50 ish at Lowes and Home Depot. I could not locate a bigger bag and I double checked the label, I sure hope I was reading it wrong because this would be about the first time I see something MORE expensive at Walmart? The checkout guy did not know what eggplant is, looked at it and asked me if it is fruit or vegetable. Then asked me if it is squash. Well I guess you gotta have some patience when you are in walmart. I only wish that this is a super walmart, which the target up the block is a super target, so if you are looking for groceries and fresh produce, I'd say go there. However, I find Target's produce to be significantly more than Garden Fresh or even Mariano's. You will still get a different clientele at Walmart than Target no matter what. Maybe things are a bit sketchier here, but hey, if you wanna save that's what you gotta be willing to put up with. None of the self check outs were wiped after customers used them. None of the workers seamed to care when I asked to have one of the check outs wiped down with alcohol before using it. When I finally spoke with a manager and told he Lake County was a hot spot for COVID right now and she needed to take safety of the customers seriously, she said she was on it and walked away. Today Walmart Corp announced a reduction in customers but no one was taking count at the door either. Very disappointing. read more

Shout out to Marty and Drago who provided the BEST customer service that I've ever experienced at Walmart. They should be recognized by staff and management for their follow-through and timeliness. We had been bounced around from store to store seeking two specific bikes which were listed as "in-stock" on the Walmart website. Marty was very courteous, prompt, and helpful in finding and coordinating assembly with Drago regarding the bikes in stock. We heard back from Marty within one day about our bikes being complete and ready to be picked up, and were thrilled to be able to ride them later that day. Oddly managed store. Closes at 10 pm some nights when the doors say midnight. Poorly stocked shelves and from what is there, many of the food items are damaged packaging seemingly like they threw them there or off the truck. Had no receipt for an 11.00 clearance item and wanted to give me 1.00 so I asked if I could exchange for next size up and she said no because of value and no receipt????? Growing up in L-ville, this Walmart location is like a second home... unfortuantely. As much as I want to like this place just because, it gets worse every time. The pharmacy is always slow (estimated wait time was 30 min, but I waited 45), and the layout isn't like other Walmarts - creating confusion and chaos. Although it received a design refresh a few years ago, it needs something more drastic to be acceptable. read more
