I frequent this location often as I work nearby and have never been treated so poorly as this instance. I have an electric bike and it is known that things come up missing in our area so the store employees had been gracious enough to allow me to leave my bike by the storefront as I come on my lunch break and spend less than 5 min in the store. As soon as I entered, Matt who I later learned is the store manager pointed behind me and said "OUTSIDE" in a stern manner. I began to explain how the employees typically allow me to leave my bike there as I am in and out and Matt cut me off at the start of my explanation with a sharp "OUT" as he pointed to the door again. I calmly did as I was rudely commanded to and got my few items. When I got to the counter Matt was bickering at his employee saying "You're on the clock you're not a regular civilian right now that doesn't matter" making her visibly uncomfortable and embarrassed. After he was finished barking orders I politely asked if he was the manager- to which he replied yes. I said "Matt, that was REALLY rude. You didn't have to speak to me that way, I come here all the time. Matt said "What was rude? I didn't say anything rude I just told you to go outside." I said no you cut me off when I was trying to speak and pointed and demanded as if you were chastising a child. Matt scoffed and said "Whatever. I didn't do anything all I said was you need to take the bike outside." Is this the standard Dollar General holds their management to? I fear this location is in desperate need of new management as it is a trickle down effect and I will be sharing this dreadful experience with family and friends as it is the first time in a very long time that I have been completely deterred from visiting an establishment due to the rotten lack of professionalism and respect for their loyal patrons.

At first, I thought, typical thift store- thousands of coffee mugs and baskets. But wait!…read more An ART section? This place actually had these beautiful photos of europe you see at all the arty suburban shows for a fraction of price. Bright greece days, soothing Italian sunsets . You name it. They were marked $50 and $70 dollars but the sign said 2/$18. GO get them right NOW. The pictures being there set my mind a wandering- did the dude who did them DIE? Did he bring no name coffee to his suburban art show instead of Starbucks and get banned, never to sell to yuppies too lazy to travel and take their OWN pictures? It was enough to make me explore more and then I discoverd the ... SHOT GLASS section! Someone was thoughtful enough to think of the hard drinker's needs. I felt... warmed by their kindness. Theres clothes and shoes. You know how I feel about those, a long section of nice jewelry and a unusual selection of cartoon character glasses from the 70 and 80s. One's like Pepples'boyfriend Freddy or the "Georgy and the Pirates". In all, a interesting shop if you're in the hood.

Decent selection of collectible items. Art and some vinyl. Clothes all seemed from the 80s, a lot…read morenew with tags. Generally overpriced, like they already priced according to the internet.....I prefer a true thrift store that makes treasure hunting fun. I also like to be greeted, so when two people were working and no one said hello it bothers me enough to not return.

I have been back to visit the area recently and had to visit one of my favorite thrifts. The two Goodwills in my current locale are complete dumps compared to this one, I don't know why they even bother. The reviewers stating the inventory here is lacking don't know how good they've got it! I envy this location and I'm sad I no longer can make a stop when the mood hits. Seriously this is one of the best organized Goodwills I have been in and the amount and quality of inventory is excellent in comparison of my current location. Really there is no comparison. Maybe the people in this area are just more generous in their donating which is a loss for me having moved from there. Sure the prices were sometimes high on certain things, but I have found that to be true of any thrift where they try to sell at eBay prices on select things. Just as with anywhere I shop if I don't like a price I just don't buy it, there are plenty of other bargains to be found. But I can say that I never wondered about a price here as all items are clearly marked. This is not so at my current locale where they have some crazy multicolored hang tag pricing system on clothing and cheap yard sale price stickers on household and non-clothing items. And if ever I needed or wanted something specific or random, 9 times out of 10 I was able to find it here. I have found some true deals here, and I'm not one of those people that buys stuff to resell, I actually only buy what I am personally going to use for myself, kids, or my home. Truly a gem as far as Goodwills go, too bad some just don't know what they've got til it's gone. Really bummed that I am now several hours drive from this Goodwill but when we are back in the area on those rare occasions I definitely plan a stop here.

On Monday, 15 December I visited the Goodwill store in Round Lake Beach, Illinois (Store #088)…read more My visit was pleasant and uneventful...until I went to pay for my items. Employee #180709 performed in what I can only describe as an appallingly rude, discourteous, and unprofessional manner. Employee #180709 did not greet me, did not respond to my greeting, did not speak to me; he simply stood there glaring at me and then handed me the receipt without a word. Employee #180709 presented an attitude of disgust and disdain for my custom, and behaved as though my presence there was offensive. I don't know what I did to warrant this behaviour; I stood in the line quietly, waiting for my turn (there was only one cashier available at 11am), and then greeting him in a friendly manner. Employee #180709 appeared to 'glare' at me as though my presence was an offence to him. Employee #180709 behaved in what I perceived as a bigoted, racially-biased manner, which made my visit there thoroughly unpleasant and made me feel unwelcome. I am very disappointed, disgusted, and displeased by the behaviour of Employee #180709 and do not recommend him or this store to anyone.
