The only reason I'm going to give a 5 star is because of your sweet Assistant Manager Ketty. She was extremely helpful and sweet and was so personable with me, and helpful. Better than the manager I had to wait for an approval and I waited for over 10 mins and was about to leave. So upsetting the staff was amazing but when it comes to the manager Vanessa who ignored when being called & acted as if she was better than the customers in the store!! She completely ignored the fact that I needed assistance but Assistant Manager Ketty came back from her break & right away came to assist & apologize for waiting. Clearly the manager Vanessa was more focused on herself than anyone else she was 100% disrespectful, Hopefully she will be replaced before the employees take the fall from her. I, and I alone, am my office's resident birthday decorating committee. Recently, I ran out of decorating supplies and was all set to descend upon Party City to replenish when a lightbulb went on in my head and said, GO TO DOLLAR TREE instead. So I did. I bought balloons, banners, birthday candles, table top decorations, and the most important item, confetti. Everyone knows I'm all about the confetti. Dollar Tree had it ALL, and yes, EVERYTHING COST ONLY $1.00 each. Things that at Party City cost $2.99, $3.99 or even more....... cost $1.00 here. I honestly don't know why I don't remember this place more often for more things. Granted, a lot of their stuff can be schlocky, but there is certainly enough to pick and choose from, and I'd say MOST of their items are equal in quality to higher-priced items elsewhere. Sadly, I only visit this Dollar Tree for the obvious things, I know they're sure to have. Such as birthday cards, cleaning totes and candy. Other than that, it never fails to disappoint. I've learned to stop getting excited over things I see on Instagram and/or YouTube with this particular store. I used to call in to ask if they had certain items, and the people who answer are always so rude. I realize they're busy but it's not as though I give them a list of things to look for. That's the business. It comes with the territory. People want to be sure before they head out, that there's at least a possibility of finding what they want. Doesn't matter anyway though, because on more than one occasion I happened to walk in and find what they swore up and down they didn't have. On top of everything else, they only ever have one check stand open and what is with them stuffing the bags in no particular order?! They just stuff as much as they can, however they can. No matter how many things they ruin to do it. RUDE!! But I guess since they're not the one's paying for it, they don't care. I love running in here for wrapping paper and ribbon. The weekend of my daughters birthday I was a little scatter brained to say the least. During my shopping trip my daughter somehow managed to throw my wallet out of the cart! I had no idea where it happened at, so I ran to a worker and asked. She immediately took me to a safe and asked me my name to compare it to my drivers license. And wouldn't you know it, all $320 in cash was all there! Not to mention all 5 of my credit cards! She was very sweet and even called me by name after I put in my credit card. I was floored and I would hire here in a heart beat for my store. RUBI VILLA!!! WORST EMPLOYEE EVER!! I called the corporate office and they returned my call promptly. I need to share here as well how ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE the customer service was. The so called manager RUBI VILLA was rude, aggressive, disrespectful and flat out AWFUL! Because Dollar Tree is awesome the checkout line was extremely long with only one cashier open. Well, RUBI VILLA made an announcement that another line is opening. I, along with several other customers, followed her announcement and stood in the new line. RUBI VILLA checked 2 customers out then for no reason at all closed the line and told everyone who had moved to the new line she opened had to go back to the original line . The line she just opened now is not open anymore. RUBI VILLA wanted us to go to the line we lost our place in!!! The one RUBI VILLA said we could get out of line for the new line she was opening. The gentleman in front of me asked why she is closing and she said "I have other things to do". OMG! WOW! GREAT CUSTOMER SKILLS RUBI VILLA! The guy had already put his stuff on the belt. She then said "im not checking anyone out" and hid in the office. RUBI VILLA literally ignored several customer and slammed her office door in my face!! IM DEAD SERIOUS! Once I found out this store has mylar balloons for a buck, I am a repeat customer. In all honesty, the balloons are the extent of my shopping here as I usually make a quick dash inside to grab 4-5 balloons for various birthdays or graduations, etc., so really can't comment of selections outside of the balloons. In the five or six times I've been to this store to get the balloons inflated, the cashiers have always been friendly and quick to assist. I was shopping the other day and I was loooki g for a full set of plates and I mean 24 all I could find was 18. I was so upset because I was in the store the week before and they had them all. The store was crazy busy so I gave the manager Ketty my phone and the numbers on the plate she needed to locate stock. I figured she threw it in the trash when I left but she called me a couple hours later and had found a whole case with 24 untouched plates . She is a big asset to the store. What an amazing g manager, although I tried to give her a tip and she said no thank you you happiness is enough. She also said they cannot take tips. What has happened to the Dollar tree in Simi Valley, What a mess it had become. How can A major store lose there Food licence to sell food. This tells me bad managers. Most of all the New Manager that they have there. She does not know how to run a store, Store is always a mess, Under staffed. No Customer Service and if they have it . Its in the back and they have not had time to stock the store. Her Famous Word is Come back tomorrow we are under staffed and we will get it for you. Tomorrow. So you go the next day and you see that Shelves are empty and you ask and they tell you, Sorry we are under staffed come back later we will have it for you. You go back at night thinking they will have it for you. Same shit come back in the morning. I have had this told to me for 1 week now. So now i just stoped asking and i get my stuff at another Dollar tree. Its sad to see the store go down. Miss the old manager and the great staff he had . Since this new lady Manager has came in. You will not see any of the old staff members. This new MANAGER has found a way to fire them all . NOT ALL DOLLAR TREE'S ARE CREATED EQUAL! That being said, this Dollar tree is above and beyond any I have ever been to, and I have been to many!! For starters, the store is so clean, organized and well stocked. There are always several available cashiers, so you don't have to stand in a line of about 14 people waiting for the one cashier, like you do in West Hills or Canoga Park. Gloria, one of the managers, is beyond amazing!! She helped me track down and accumulate what I needed for an upcoming wedding. Not only did she check other stores, but she checked their shipments and remembered to call me when the merchandise came in. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?? When I arrived to pick up the goods, she had set aside what I needed so it never accidentally got lost, or put back on a shelf. Gloria multitasks so well, and stays on top of everything. She is personable, reliable and so professional. She is the reason that I will no longer go to my neighborhood Dollar Tree and go far out of my way to hers. She knows how to treat customers. Try working for them. They don't give you hours, your opinion means nothing, you are treated like garbage. Manager steals money daily from the safe, yet corporate does absolutely nothing about it. I lost my job after almost three years of working my ass off just for trying to defend my job title , myself, and my other employees. Corporate did absolutely nothing for me, sided with the manager who lied about every thing that had happened, and tried to call the police on me for trying to come into work . Manager said he had suspended me yet gave no written notice, then he told assistant manager that he had fired me. When questioned by corporate about it he lied and said he had never talked about firing me, and that I needed to leave the store!!!! This place is despicable and the manager needs to be let go! The employees are really friendly and helpful. Only downside is they only ever have one register open. Sometimes I'll see two employees walking around, not restocking, not helping someone look for something, just walking around, when there's one register open and twelve people in line. What gives? I was surprised at all the the good merchandise this place had. And for a dollar! Right now i'm using the keyboard light i bought there.
