This dollar store is average overall. This is a medium sized dollar tree that has a variety of items. It had storage units, office supplies, house hold items, snack food, some frozen foods, refrigerated food, toys, and more. I am a teacher and dollar tree is a teachers best friend :) This location in particular can be a bit more unorganized that other locations and there are less thrifty finds. The lines are always very long, usually only one person is ringing at the register. Overall, I have been to other locations which are larger and have more great finds. Most of the time I can find what I am looking for, however it can be very hit or miss. The Dollar Store is pretty great because almost everything is $1 and it's quality is pretty decent. This particular branch is located conveniently at McCarthy Ranch, right next to Walmart. The store is of a decent size and offers many items from food to cards to decorations and school supplies. I came here to look for some birthday decorations and supplies like balloons and candles. I was able to find them pretty easily and I was in and out of the store in about 5 to 10 minutes. I didn't really see anyone working except for the cashier. Maybe the other staff members were in the back or something. My experience here was pretty great and I would definitely be back if I needed to run some errands. The quality of the items from the Dollar Tree Store is decent to me and I don't see why you wouldn't choose to pay for less for something like balloons as compared to paying like $4 for only 15 balloons (one color) at superstores like Party City. Just discovered Dollar Tree in Milpitas, Macarthy Ranch Shopping center. Went to the shopping center to go to another store then my boyfriend said, "hey let's stop in at the Dollar Tree store." He left with about 6 bags of frozen, refrigerated, canned goods & several cleaning supplies for about $35. Pretty good variety of frozen foods. They even sell single servings of beef, pork chops, scrimps, etc. for a $1 each. Girl at the check out told me the store just opened about a month ago. I'm sure this store is going to be packed once people find out about it. Of course there are hundreds of different types of items but my boyfriend Carl was only interested in buying groceries. My best guestimate is that he probably saved about $40-$50 compared to if he bought the same items at Safeway or Lucky. read more

Pretty Big. Surprised with how clean this place was. All the workers I saw were kept busy doing their jobs but I also noticed that they were happy drop what they were doing to help customers. I'm always around this area and I never once thought about coming to this place. My friend Mark introduced me to this place a few weeks ago. We came here to buy some supplies for a BBQ and I must say that I was pretty impressed! They have a wide selection of items from frozen foods to toothbrushes and toothpaste all for a dollar! We had ordered balloons for my niece's birthday three days in advance and paid in full. When we arrived to pick the order up, nothing was ready. The employee started blowing up the first balloon (one of 30!) in front of us. We had to wait close to an hour to get the whole order. Additionally, the manager was EXCEEDINGLY rude and did not honor the receipt. She only gave us 20 balloons because the order was not written out properly by the previous manager. HORRIBLE service, horrible experience. Almost ruined my niece's first birthday. I wish I had something stronger than Yelp to express my frustration and anger at this store. read more

I love, love, love this Dollar Tree! I normally shop at the Berryessa location but was in the area and decided to drop by this one in Milpitas (Walmart/McCarthy Ranch). Not only is it clean, well-stocked and organized but it also has a freezer/refrigerator section where you can find smaller portions of frozen veggies, lunch meat, cheese, milk and frozen food! I recommend loading up your cart (and you WILL need one) with staple items because those sporadic runs to 7-11, liquor stores, grocery stores, etc. start to get very costly. Worst customer service!!! The first time I've had to give a negative review. I don't want to, but I really did not appreciate this experience. Stood in line and placed about 12 items on the conveyor belt. Waited for about 15-20 minutes while NOWANA (the cashier), rung up customers w/ a really bad attitude. I love shopping at Dollar Tree especially for party decor as well as cleaning supplies, and kitchen utensils. Out of the Dollar Tree stores in the area, I like this one the best because it's clean and not topsy-turvy like other locations I've been too. Tonight I went to dollar tree to get some playing cards and I browsed the Christmas ornaments came across a two pack that I bought previous years and wanted to replace the ones that I currently have on my Christmas tree brought the playing cards and one pack of ornaments to the checkout the cashier said the ornaments rang in .01 I said oh let me go grab one more she said ok and before I got back to the register the manager came over and voided out my original ornament and said she can't sell it to me and gave me a crazy excuse as to why I can't buy them even though there was like 30+ on the sales for pegged on a shelf I said if it's on the sales floor it for sale another cashier then came over saying they took 165 off the floor yesterday because they were told not to sell the well again it's not my fault 30+ were still on the shelf and should not refuse to sell to me due to there mistake forgetting to remove the one I picked out. I said what is with the attitude why are you yelling at customers. She turned to other customers and start asking them what balloons they want ? instead of Apology or giving any explanation for herself. I said I want to speak with her manager because her behaviors totally not call far. She turned around ready to bite my head up and yelled with burning face I AM THE MANAGER and turned back to other customers. I just walked away and wish the store owners luck in my head. While I was walking away an other customer start talking to me that she too have very bad experience at this store and this young manager is rude to her employees and customers equally. I guess if dollar tree think if their customers buying cheap stuff and do not deserve any service or respect than its a shame. I will never shop there and will not recommend them to any one. I'm giving 1 star for the poor customer service and lame excuse they gave me when I bought some faulty nightlight bulbs from this place. When I got home, I put one of the bulbs in my nightlight lamp. It didn't work. I tried the other bulbs in the pack. Only 1 worked. I went back to the store to return them. I expected all the bulbs to work, and I was not going to purchase a semi-working pack. The cashier manager said I couldn't return them if the package was opened. Now really??? I asked the cashier manager, "How am I supposed to check if the bulbs worked if I don't open the package?" I told her that they're selling faulty merchandise. I demanded a refund for the faulty bulbs. Only after making a commotion did the cashier manager finally said, "okay just this once." If they don't intend to give refunds for faulty light bulbs, they should have a sign by the light bulbs stating, "Purchase at your own risk. Bulbs might not work and there are no refunds." This place can be a little messy and sometimes a little smelly but you can always find some really good things here. Most of the cashiers I have come in contact with have been pretty nice. There is one cashier that I see pretty often who has terrible hygiene so I try to avoid his line all together. He has never been rude or anything but I've seen him pick his wedgie or pick around his mouth and then ring people up and it just disgust me.
