Look... it's dollar store, I'm not expecting the Taj Mahal, but I told one of the workers at dollar store a month ago at this exact location, older lady with black hair. Anyways... like come on... I went to grab a soda and noticed all the mold and then when I told her about it she seemed irritated even tho the people behind me agreed and tried to tell her as well. Idk if I need to call the CEO or what but this is pretty raunchy. If I had more than $1 I wouldn't shop here but unfortunately im still waiting for them grocery prices to go way down. lol come here if you have to but avoid the mold. Holy moldy.

I was shopping around. The cashier was helping someone out. She was so friendly. She came over to me and told me how much she loved my dress. Made my year! Than the line was long. She didn't hesitate to jump in ring people up. Including me! She was super fast! We exchanged a lot of small talk which was so warm. I really needed her and she had me! I will be coming back again and again. I live in Oakland but her warmth will have me travel! Thank you.

I bought all kinds of sh--. Lol. ... Our cashier wasn't that friendly, but she was very quick. ... Some aisles were messy or kind of barren.

This location still sucks to some degree (I gave it 2 stars about 8 years ago), but I was happy enough last night to give it 3 stars now. I went here with my wife. Right after we entered, a mother told her young son that he needed to put on a face mask. It was nice to see the pandemic taken so seriously. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dollar-tree-hayward?select=17p3lQdYb5LsSncK5u_wcQ: My wife bought a lot of party supplies. The store had almost everything she needed. Some aisles were pretty messy or barren. Some restocking was definitely in order. There aren't many signs here. We were sort of wandering around like we were on a treasure hunt. I felt for him (he was probably homeless), but a tall man acted like he wanted to bump into people. I was really glad when he left. The security guard worked hard and was friendly. The young man seems to have multiple roles (a lack of staff has been an issue here for years). Before we left, it looked like he was about to serve as a cashier! There was only 1 cashier. She wasn't that friendly, but she was very quick. A few people were ahead of us, but we were in line for less than 5 minutes. Our receipt is as faded as my jeans from high school. Necco Wafers are no longer sold here (sigh), but the candy selection is quite solid (the section basically takes up 2 aisles). Someone left a Dinosaur Hat (ex: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e1/bb/0b/e1bb0b384ad421e639a60f11a3029d2f.jpg) on top of some greeting cards. It basically looked like a man's head had been chomped off. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dollar-tree-hayward?select=03fTJSLCvgb0ym8ZYOCVKA: I really like the candy that I bought. In terms of the Donald Duck drinks (the kid in me HAD TO buy some), Grape and Orange Juice are worth buying (Fruit Punch and Pink Lemonade are a little watery and weak). The frozen food section is worth checking out. The Hayward sales tax is 9.75% (only the drinks that I bought were exempt). "We will gladly exchange any unopened item with original receipt. We do not offer refunds." The parking lot wasn't as full as normal. It was pretty easy to find a spot. The layout of the store could be better, and the aisles should be straightened out more often. Still, my wife and I were fairly pleased when we left. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-QWy-fgxac&ab_channel=Wardrip06

Beware of their candies as the candies are not expired but it's spoiled at this store!

I really hate rating low BUT this place is the WORST!! It's not for their customer service which is the one star I can give. I was so happy coming in this dollar store as it seemed fully stocked even with many people coming here. I am usually a regular to many dollar tree stores in the Bay Area as I like shopping here for quick small items. Their parking lot is pretty full for a weekday daytime. Their shelves were pretty stocked with decorations and food for the coming Thanksgiving and Xmas holiday. I am very disappointed though and I should have looked at all packaging before adding it to my cart. I was getting a lot of snacks for my kids for school. I am usually the person that looks to make sure I get food packages that has an extended expiration date or anything that has not expired yet. I checked many of the packages facing front and they weren't expired so I started to grab more not knowing many of the packages in the back were probably expired. I was careless and in a rush to leave. It was my fault not checking all packages. As I got home, half of the goldfish, all the Hershey's kisses and a few other items were expired. I plan to go back to return the expired items for my money back. This place needs a new management team or inspection team. This could be a health issue down the line. Something needs to be done for this and hope someone in their management team sees my review... People beware of all food package expiration dates! [140/100]

Line is clear to the back of the store on a weekday during Covid-19. Where are the cashiers, hiding in the break room?

Nothing Special. This place is very messy when the one in Union City is way more organized and clean.

That's after you get over the initial shock at seeing how messy and unorganized the place is. After 5-10 mins, you get a sense of where things are and just start exploring the place. The staff are really nice and helpful. They want to make a sale to get merchandise out the door. The first time I came here was near closing time, and they asked me to come back. So I came back as a bargain hunter. I read the positive Yelp reviews, and decided to explore the place. I spotted a "14-Cup Cuisinart Programmable Coffee Maker," priced at $59. FYI, the price tag isn't the final price. The lady mgr made me an offer.....open box-$25, sealed box -$35. I asked for the sealed box. She said I can open the box and inspect it before I pay. We opened it together, and it was brand new. She said full refund if I return it within a week. Took it home, it works fine. If you have the time, come by and explore this place.

Come early as the parking lot can get full. Always grab a cart because there is so much good stuff. Or not-up to you. I like to peruse almost every aisle, looking at each item of clothing- I got a whole system down. Of course I'm paying attention to the color tag sale of the day, but if it's cute, it's going in the cart. The women's section is great but the men's section is good too. Their racks are packed full. They don't have fitting rooms but there are mirrors if you'd want to pull something over your clothes to try on. What's great is that they also have bathrooms. Very convenient especially when you're shopping a long time. The store also has kids clothes, shoes, small furniture, housewares, toys etc. Did I mention they have a lot of stuff? The store is clean, organized and the employees are friendly. Some items can be pricey, sure, but it's all about rummaging through to find those hidden gems and getting a good deal. I think it's fun. I truly love this place and always come back when I'm in town.

There isn't a fitting room, so I generally try things on over my clothes. While most of my experiences have been good, the staff hasn't been as nice during my last few visits. I wasn't aware of the no-tag rule unless a specific lady was there to change the price. An employee quickly took an item from me, telling me oh well come back tomorrow. Their staff isn't the nicest and sometimes ruins the shopping experience regardless of their selection of items.
