Good dollar tree. Lots of items - storage, cards, some 'dollar' items and other items $7 more or less. Tiny shopping center with an EVgo - very convenient to charge and get that item you are missing at home. The Dollar store is large. Lots of items - craft, automotive, decoration, party type things - plastic plates and platters - a lot of the stuff I tend not to keep on hand. Next door is donuts and a Mexican grocery store. Good if you want to spend time at the EVgo and not go to Dollar Store. read more

Good amount of parking but gets pretty full. Located next to Cardenas and decided to stop in. This location is one of the larger ones I've been to. Decently fully stocked and organized. But there's quite a few items that they don't carry like the smaller locations. Now as far as service..staff on the floor didn't acknowledge or do any interaction with any of the customers. But, the cashier was the only one pleasant. So at least stars for that. read more

Look... it's dollar store, I'm not expecting the Taj Mahal, but I told one of the workers at dollar store a month ago at this exact location, older lady with black hair. Anyways... like come on... I went to grab a soda and noticed all the mold and then when I told her about it she seemed irritated even tho the people behind me agreed and tried to tell her as well. She didn't hesitate to jump in ring people up. Including me! She was super fast! We exchanged a lot of small talk which was so warm. I really needed her and she had me! Right after we entered, a mother told her young son that he needed to put on a face mask. The security guard worked hard and was friendly. The young man seems to have multiple roles (a lack of staff has been an issue here for years). Before we left, it looked like he was about to serve as a cashier! There was only 1 cashier. She wasn't that friendly, but she was very quick. A few people were ahead of us, but we were in line for less than 5 minutes. Our receipt is as faded as my jeans from high school. Necco Wafers are no longer sold here (sigh), but the candy selection is quite solid (the section basically takes up 2 aisles). I really hate rating low BUT this place is the WORST!! It's not for their customer service which is the one star I can give. I was so happy coming in this dollar store as it seemed fully stocked even with many people coming here. I am usually a regular to many dollar tree stores in the Bay Area as I like shopping here for quick small items. Their parking lot is pretty full for a weekday daytime. Their shelves were pretty stocked with decorations and food for the coming Thanksgiving and Xmas holiday. I am very disappointed though and I should have looked at all packaging before adding it to my cart. I was getting a lot of snacks for my kids for school. I am usually the person that looks to make sure I get food packages that has an extended expiration date or anything that has not expired yet. I checked many of the packages facing front and they weren't expired so I started to grab more not knowing many of the packages in the back were probably expired. I was careless and in a rush to leave. It was my fault not checking all packages. As I got home, half of the goldfish, all the Hershey's kisses and a few other items were expired. I plan to go back to return the expired items for my money back. This place needs a new management team or inspection team. This could be a health issue down the line. This place is horrible. There was one big line that was super long. There was two cashiers open the logical thing to do is to form two lines. It was asked to whole line if everyone wanted two lines to help the cashier and get everyone out quicker than having one big line and the customer's agreed The Hispanic cashier became argumentative not wanting to ring us up stating that we were not it line. When clearly we were in line like everyone else. Cashier stated she is a "manager" but absolutely did not act like one. She started to raise her voice! I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. This is one of the best dollar trees around. It's clean and has an assortment of fun finds. I mostly get all my organizing things here like baskets. I got 4 small loofas for my kids for $1. There was a huge gardening section perfect for stay at home fun. The toy section was the only part that was messy probably because of kids messing it up. Came in here looking for some Christmas ornament hooks and they have a lot in stock! After going to several other big name stores and wasn't able to find any and about to give up, I saw this store and decided to check it out. I went to their seasonal section and found what I was looking for! And the fact that they were only a dollar each made it that much more enjoyable to be purchasing them here. The only downside was the long line, which extended from the cashier to the back of the store! It did go by relatively fast if you didn't really spend too much time thinking how long the line was. And once I finally reached the cashier, she made my shopping experience less stressful with her warm greeting and pleasant customer service. I will definitely come back again. read more

I'm glad this store is in Bedford Plaza and very convenient to get into! It's about 100 yards away from the Ac transit bus stop and 50 yards away from Home Depot. Everything convenient you'll find in this store short of appliances and cheaper than Walmart and Target vby far. Everything here is $1.00 and you're hard pressed not to get your snacks. I walked into this store for the first time recently. I was planning on shopping at Mi Pueblo, but I wanted to look for some Xmas decor beforehand. When I walked in, it felt like I wasn't admiring the holiday decor on the aisles. Rather, everything "decor" was on the floor. The aisles here are a bit messy and disorganized. It was difficult to find what I needed and it slowed my shopping experience. Overall, I found some good finds for $1. I bought two plastic table covers and a pack of six floating candles for a buck. Can't really beat that. I would still come back here, but I will probably go to the 99 cent stores first. read more

This review is strictly based on customer service. I totally understand that everywhere is short-staffed right now, and I also understand that it's a dollar store so perhaps they're not getting the most qualified people applying. The person who seemed to be in charge of the store at the moment seemed fine, was friendly & efficient. But there was a younger female cashier, who was complaining (out loud) about her anxiety and how all these customers were triggering her. There isn't any signage, but apparently they want customers to wait back by the card aisle (a good 10-12 feet away) to get called up to a register instead of approaching a register on your own. She raised her voice and told the people to move back and wait to be called up, and not in a pleasant way. Perhaps some more training for this girl is in order. Alternatively, perhaps if her people-induced anxiety is that bad, then she should rethink her career choice of being a cashier in a busy store, especially during the holidays. read more

There's always a line here and only 1 cashier at a time. I'm happy that they recently got more shopping carts as I often stop in with my toddler and have a hard time letting her walk around the store. I've never had a bad experience with the workers and I'm usually greeted by a nice man at the door. He usually makes me feel safer since this store is not located in the best area. This is the biggest dollar tree in Hayward and they have the best selection for most items. Occasionally I find good brand name items like OPI nail polish and some food items. A standard Dollar Tree. I use to go here for Rip-it energy drinks but now go to Grocery Outlet or 99 Cent Store. I'll come here real quick if I need party supplies but other than that, it's not worth my money. This store can get a little messy and disorganized so beware. Also, the parking lot is shared with Goodwill and Mi Pueblo so parking might be hard to find. It's straight, a mad house on the weekends, so just forget it all together. All Dollar Tree Stores are basically the same in terms of merchandise. The only difference is employees and location. Employees make the business organized or dishevled, clean or dirty, tidy or unkept. They are the ones who alter the customer's experience. This store is just okay, haven't been impressed with customer service. I do like the merchandise selection here, which I attribute to the location. I was able to get some gorgeous faux-plants for my altar, which look gorgeous. Great place to visit on a hoodrat outting. read more

My 3 year old was a little angel at dinner on Friday, so in my book he was deservant of a treat... Off to the dollar store we go = ) I don't frequently go to the Dollar store, but I do know there is a ton of junk to be had by kids.... This one in particular had a whole entire wall, plus 2 1/2 other aisles of kid's junk, I mean toys. He couldn't decide!! There was just so much. I did a quick perusal of the rest of the store, and it's a mess. Total disarray, and in ill-repair. Tiles are loose stuff hanging off the shelves, etc. I ended up picking out 3 little things for him; a chopper motorcycle, a guitar hero mini guitar and this little ball thing. With a store that averages its prices around $1 per item, I know not to expect too much with the selection or even the upkeep. However, this particular Dollar Tree may be the smallest of any other store in the franchise. Honestly, this store is probably half the size of your average Dollar Tree. And though the selections are similar to the other stores, with a smaller store comes fewer shelf space, and fewer shelves equal fewer options for customers. Since I never find what I want or need when I visit this store, I don't really get a chance to interact with any of the employees. But, I do know that their lines often stretch nearly all the way down the short aisle. At least the store doesn't seem disorganized or messy. It just doesn't offer much of anything. And, just like the store itself, the parking lot is often crowded and too small. I wish I could say something nicer about this place. I'll keep checking in to see if things improve. read more

Went in with my 76 year old mother who happened to put back an item in the wrong bin. Sales clerk ORLANDO came up to us and requested we put back items in the right place as he spent all day putting stuff in order. This he said in front of another customer so we got so embarrassed. He then walked next isle and spoke to another clerk and discussed how some customers make a mess, etc, etc, etc. We wanted to get away from this humiliation so fast as we could hear their conversation as with the other customers but he came back to our isle and tried to explain further how hard he tries to keep stuff neat. Felt so sorry for my mom that I just looked at his badge and told him he need not explain anything. We went straight to the cashier, paid for our stuff and left. Never going back there again. Seems a male Mgr/Associate is extremely rude to female customers. I'm writing this review on my wife's behalf since she doesn't have an acct on yelp. This male employee confronted my wife and told her rudely "that i'm not picking up after your kids!" One of my sons picked upa toy sword and put it back where it didn't belong. First of the all, the place is already messy. Secondly, confronting a customer and causing a scene is a big no no. I'm pretty sure it states somewhere in the retail policy not to act like a jackass to your paying customers. Had I been present, I'm sure this employee would have kept his mouth shut. I have never rated a business but I felt the absolute need to rate this store. I came in on Saturday May 7th, right after I got off work around 9:30pm. All that I needed were a couple of balloons for Mother's Day. At this time most of the balloons were gone and the last ones were basically the same design. I stood next to the balloon area waiting for some assistance. OK So what really just ruined my experience was waiting for approximately 20 minutes or so.. So that my existence would be noticed. The MANAGER was standing right next to me. She was a short, white lady with blonde or light brown hair. I got closer to her in need of some acknowledgement. NOTHING. May I add, she was counting the register but was chatting it up with another employee. They noticed I was standing there waiting for them to finish and they still didn't say a word! After about 7 minutes I started getting really irritated. I walked to the first register ( the only register open) and kindly asked the CASHIER if she could get someone to help me with balloons. I just needed a couple of them! She said of course and turned to her manager, she asked if (name) was still on break and the manager said yes. She then replied that I needed help with balloons & that it looked like I was about ready to just walk out the store .. the manager didn't reply. That frustrated me even more. This young lady walked back to her register ( she had a line) she rang up the next customer and told the following one that she was going to help me real quick with balloons and then would come back to her. She was a sweetheart. Luckily when she was walking away from her register another girl came and was able to help me. Point is, the manager that was on duty was so unprofessional. She had no customer service skills at all. She made me not want to come back to this store. read more

As I say time and time again, if you buy food items from these types of places, check the expiration dates! Went to this place 5/29; Got some decent items like cleaners and house goods. However, some of the food items on the shelves had sell by/expiration dates from back in 2009. That makes me wonder how often the staff checks these items, which is obviously not very often! read more
