The TJ Maxx in Placerville, CA, is one of my favorite places to shop. Where else can you find…read morebargains (including brand names) in housewares, linens, makeup, clothes , shoes, luggage, commercial art, photo frames, stationary, clocks, cookware... all in one shop. Not every visit turns up insane bargains, but more often than not. The majority of staff are pretty helpful and the cashiers are a hoot. The merch is organized. If the shelves are in a disarray, chalk that up to the over zealous shoppers. The staff do their best to keep items neat n tidy as we all should. I see staff literally go down the aisles and tidy up and I've seen customers go tear it all up.

The store was out of produce bags but I did not let that stop me from having a good time. Staff was kind and courteous and was a cool shopping experience. I primarily frequent the Bradshaw location but when in Folsom this will be my outlet jam. As each one is independently owned it's always good to judge it from that angle. We do wish they had more Day of the Dead specific items, we've found some great ones in the past, but we find they get swallowed up by the Halloween hype. Other than seasonal items, this location had a good selection of pet items. We had fun going through the toy aisle and picking out some items. They have a mix of seasonal toys and regular toys. This location was well stocked and well organized. We only walked away with dog toys this time, but we had fun looking around.

Throwing away organic spices' containers purchased in manufacturers' packaging in PFAS BPA plastic wrappers, quasi-BPA free (are the containers truly BPA-free, eh?) containers, and disposing Scotch cellulose, chemical-laden sponges. Aside, I knew Home Goods would have air-tight, glass spice containers within their inventory; however, I couldn't find anymore glass spice containers. Still, I would have purchased more glass spice containers providing Home Goods would alert their Buyers purchasing as their high inventory turnover rather than low stock turn rate.

She told me I could receive a discount if I simply answered "3 questions." Before agreeing, I specifically asked multiple times if this would affect my credit or involve a hard inquiry, especially when I noticed it was asking for my Social Security number. Each time, she clearly told me no, and said it was "only for rewards/Discount." Shortly after completing the questions, she said, "Congratulations, you've been approved for a $500 credit line," which was completely unexpected and not what I agreed to. I never intended to apply for a credit card. Because of this, a hard inquiry was placed on my credit report, and I had to immediately call and close the account. This experience felt misleading and dishonest. Regardless of experience level, customers should be clearly informed when they are applying for a credit card, especially when it impacts their credit. Transparency is extremely important, and this was not handled properly. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures employees are properly trained so this does not happen to others.

It was my first ever visit to this Daiso. That was a couple of months ago. I have been back several times since. They have a full inventory of of an average Daiso shop. For folks unfamiliar with Daiso, it is the Japanese version of the American $Tree and other like discount shops. Most items sell for $1.75 and nothing more than $5. ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL. But what sets them apart is that Daiso sells inexpensive Sanrio themed items. Things like mini pouches, mugs, cups, hair clips, stationary, cupcake paper cups... and so on with characters of Hangyodon, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, Hello Kitty, and the gang. Last weekend, it was warm in there. The outside temp was in the 90s. It was so muggy, I needed to cut my trip short. I bought a short handle broom and sweeping pan that snap into each other. As I was checking out, I asked the cashier if something was wrong with the air conditioning. She said it was turned on. She too must be overheated. I hope that they get the AC up and running to cool at a lower temp. The summer heat is upon us.

Last week, I popped into Kirkland's to take a look around. (I have not been here for a few months…read more I have to exercise a lot of shopping self control here). Anyways, I just eaten at Shake Shack which is across the parking lot. I noticed a lot of customers leaving the shop with almost every one of them holding bags. Hmmm, my curiosity was sparked. So off I go. Everything in the shop was on sale. 50% for outdoor items (outdoor furniture, gardening decor, etc), and 30-40% off other items. They have a limited amount of furniture (bookcases, consoles, dressers, coffee/end tables, sofas) displayed in the shop and more sold online. The shop is neat and tidy but showcases a lot of merchandise, so walking around space is tight. Staff is fantastic. So friendly, helpful, engaging, and approachable. They have folks walking and working the floor. And if you are curious if Kirkland's is affiliated to Costco. Nope. It is not. Kirkland's is a home decor retail chain. The first time I shopped at a Kirkland's, I asked the staff that same question.

This Target in EDH has continued to go downhill. The hubster and I came in today to pick up some…read moreAirPods. No one was in the tech section. Shocker. So we pushed the "we need help" button. Again and again and again. After ten minutes of waiting, I had the hubster wait in the tech area and I went off in search of an employee for assistance. That took some effort as well. Eventually I found one, near the front of the store. She apologized and got on her radio to have someone help us. We waited another five minutes. All the while continuing to press the "We Need Help" button. A second round of search for an employee, this time send a manager to tech please. Finally a tech-looking guy showed up and helped the hubster and a supposed "team leader" showed up and said, "All good?" then started to walk away. To which I stopped her and relayed everything. She seemed not to care but said, "Sorry you encountered this." I explained how unacceptable all of this was again zero empathy. DO BETTER EDH TARGET!
