So my visit started very nicely. (And I was wearing a face covering).I walked in and the employees all seemed happy, even jovial as a team. I almost always have a lovely time whenever I visit, which is every few sundays to get items to decorate for a virtual event I host for my spiritual community. This evening (3/1/2021 around 7:15-7:20pm) the store seemed to be in extra good spirits. I got my belongings and stood by the one register which had a light on. I was honestly excited to strike up a polite conversation with the staff at check out because they seemed to be in such good humor. A woman that was employeed there was speaking to a tall coworker, who she Referred to as "Bobo" about an "audit" on her register. I didn't want to interrupt so I just stood by the register with the light on to wait. I work in customer service myself, and know how it is when customers rush you in the middle of a task. Bobo noticed a taller gentleman walking to the front of the store and directed him to come to the register where I was waiting. He then came to the register, noticed me, and said I had to step out of line to help the gentleman who was in line behind me. I politely mentioned that I had been waiting at the register. He was really taken aback by this, and tried to insist that he needed to help the gentleman behind me until that man spoke up and said that it was "okay" to help me first. Bobo then apologized to the gentleman behind me for the inconvenience of my presence over my head and gave me very curt service. I understand that I am short and maybe the employee did not see me from behind the shelf by the register but I was completely embarrassed and felt like I was treated as a total inconvenience. The whole ordeal was humiliating and upsetting. If the gentleman behind me was in a rush or had he asked to go first by all means I would have had no issues with that. We all want to go home at the end of the day, and I get that.... but being told I have to step out of line for no good reason, and getting rude service for no reason was really upsetting. Went in today with no expectations, it's a Dollar Tree after all. Was just hoping for some cheap items to repurpose for horse obstacles. However, standing in line, I was horrified to hear the manager/shift leader? publicly correct and berate a cashier. And as if that wasn't wildly inappropriate enough, she did it OVER THE INTERCOM. And to make matters worse, when her linewas clear and I told her I did not want to switch lanes to work with her, the stare she gave me would put Medusa to shame. I shop at several different dollar trees at Christmas to buy items for my charity. Cordova Christmas teen project. This store is one of the cleanest and consistently organized stores I've been to. No stars is what this place deserves!! This dollar tree is the WORST!! We have lived in the Cameron Park area for 6 years now and these past couple of weeks going in there have been the worst experiences in our lives. Recently we have taken up couponing again to save some money on things we already buy. I also have two college bound daughters and I'm trying to teach them how to save money as well, so they aren't struggling so much when they go to college. They went in to this dollar tree to buy their news papers to start their binders and were embarrassed by the manager who called them selfish and that they could only buy 3. The amount wasn't the issue but was all that comments about them being selfish necessary? Also calling corporate did nothing!! They don't call back or respond at all!! So much for customer service!! My husband went in today to get papers. He went in knowing he can only buy 3, and the manager comes out of her office to say to her employees in front of everyone in the store, "don't sell any papers to HIM." And points at my husband. It's starting to feel like a racist thing with them in there. We have never caused any problems or made a fuss but are being treated like we are thieves or something. A lot of people in line we're startled by this managers approach to my husband. Many were in disbelief by what she said. I came here on a mission to pick up art supplies for my kids. One of the best things about this specific store is the location. It's one exit up from where I live and it's near many other convenient stores. Inside the place is very common looking to many of the discounted stores I've been too. As far as the layout goes- I do like how the holiday stuff is more up front, right now there is a lot of Easter/Spring related decor, egg dying kits, candy, and things for gardening. I do like how they always have balloons for celebrations. If you go anywhere else, you'll end up spending double the price on balloons. I do like how much art stuff I found, the options are from coloring books to glitter- the quality is ok, but again it's a discounted price, and lastly, I do also like the price, you can save a lot of money coming here to gather odds and ends. The staff however is not the most friendly, I always feel like I'm bothering them, like they don't really care for their job, and I feel rushed at the checkout counter pretty much every time. Overall it's a decent place, but a lot of times it does come to costumer service and it's not too great here. I'm not sure if I'd suggest this location. read more

On Saturday December 2, 2023 I, along with a friend, went shopping at our local Dollar Tree store located in CAMERON PARK, CA. After shopping, I approached the register area where I was approximately fourth in line, there were several other patrons behind me. As I approached the register area and began laying my items at the register area, Janet, whom I believe to be the store manager, told me that the register was closing. I explained that I had just waited in line about ten minutes and did not feel it was appropriate to close the register as I began to lay my items on the tram mainly since I waited no less than ten minutes in line. Janet rudely stated that the cashier had to take a break and there was nothing else to say about it. I explained that she (Janet) had done the same thing to me months prior and that I felt it was inappropriate for her to close the line so abruptly to those of us whom had been waiting a while. Janet said since I am going to make an issue out of it she will open register one to help me. I proceeded to register one only to hear Janet talking to other customers about me. If fact, one of the other customers told Janet her remarks were unnecessary. I'm not sure why Janet feels it is appropriate to suddenly close a register knowing customers have waited in line for quite some time. In any other store situation, the cashier would kindly tell a customer in line that the customer will be the last customer helped before going on a break. Janet is rude, unprofessional and she should not be representing Dollar Tree as management. Janet needs to be told by her employer that this type of behavior is unacceptable. read more

Should give 0 stars. Place looks like a closet and the staff is rude and really do not know what they're doing. I was just trying to buy water, and get cash back for the toll on drive home back to the Bay Area, and the machine wouldn't read my card (it was a regular BofA debit card) so they didn't even offer to use a different machine at a different register and said I just flat out could not buy anything in the store. For work, I have spent hundreds of dollars at this particular store over the last few years. I've never been particularly impressed with the store, or generally, the employees. Given my experience here today, I would give this store zero stars. Their customer service is non existent, they were blatantly rude and hostile. To whomever owns this franchise, this is why your store has a single on Yelp and based on most of the other reviews I've read here, it would probably have none if that were an option. I ordered charger plates for Thanksgiving on November 5th. They were to be delivered to the store by the 11th. On the 17th, I went in and spoke with the manager who told me that the truck was unloading and to come back. On the 18th, I went back and was told that they were too busy to look for the shipment. On the 19th, I went back and was told that the manager was on her break and the manager was the only one who could help me. The clerk was incredibly rude. On the 20th, I called the toll free number and was on hold for 30 minutes. When someone finally answered the phone, I was told that their system was down and to call back. Unbelievable. I ended up going through my credit card company and cancelled the order. I also had to order the chargers at a substantial cost because of the last minute order. I have never dealt with such an inept business. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. The employees at this location are the rudest people ever. The other evening I was browsing the small selection of books. The employee whose name begins with "D", literally leans in front of me while I'm standing there and proceeds to straighten the books. It doesn't end there. I was on the isle looking at candles, she leans right in front of me and starts tidying the shelves. I observed her doing this to others as well. That is beyond rude. She was running around like she just downed 5 cups of coffee. Also, the banter between the employees in just plain strange. At any given time, they will talk as loud as can be to each other, doesn't matter if they're on the other side of the store from one another - they're loud and unprofessional. Add to that, I have seen the above mentioned employee pet a dog that a customer brought into the store, only to go from petting the dog, to putting food items on the shelf - gross!! Worst employees and policy ever! My kids actually like to shop at dollar type stores because it's usually fun for them and they can afford it. They do not want to ever come back to this store. The cashier was so darn rude to my 9 year old daughter that it took my breath away. My daughter bought some bubbles using a five dollar bill. She asked the cashier if she could get a couple dollars change in quarters so she could use the candy/toy vending machines that they have there in the store. The lady snapped at my daughter, telling her absolutely not. Told her she would have to go next door to Safeway for quarters. I went to the closest store and the low life manager told me he doesn't do refunds. I showed him the email saying to take it to a store for a refund and he said at best he would give me half of what I paid in store credit. Obscured. Stupid people couldn't get it together to give me the balloons I ordered for my daughters birthday. They told me they had no record of the balloons I paid for, got rude and unprofessional and had me leave without my balloons. Next day I got a call that they had them and wondered where I was to get them. When I, as the store manager opened that store in 2009 it was beautiful, we had top notch customer service! It makes me sad to read these terrible comments! Especially the one about "Bobo" who's actual name is Bo! He is & always has been a very professional employee! I cannot believe he would be rude to anyone! I no longer work for the company, however I love dollar tree and still shop at both stores in my area! Placerville was also ran by me, until we opened our Cameron park store, Jennifer ( manager) runs Placerville better then any that came before her, I don't know the manager or the freight manager at the Cameron park store , however it has become an obstacle course! There are boxes and freight down every aisle of that store, and due to all the work I did as a store manager and freight manager I now unfortunately have to use a cane from time to time because of the degenerative disc disease in my back and I have fallen over a box twice at that store when shopping there. I never reported it because I did not want to cause any issues I worked for the company too long to do that, however after the second fall last week I just felt like throwing it up on Yelp because I was pissed off! When I worked for the company, we would NEVER, EVER leave boxes thrown down Aisle as there are now! My crew would walk the store and pick up any boxes left on floor and take to store room! I am truly amazed there are not more people complaining about this issue it's unsafe and unsightly! read more

I shop at this store and the one in Placerville and I have found the staff always very personable. Being on a fixed income I truly appreciate all the items I can buy at such a great price. My visit yesterday I bought 16 birthday cards and also put together a great gift for a 4 year old girl of Disney Princesses activity books, Colorforms, etc., plus I could buy a padded mailing envelope while there.I thank Dollar Tree for having such incredible prices for many other items I buy each month from bandage items, sinus/allergy pills, and other toiletries I may need. I have bought food there and felt I got a good product especially for the price. I highly recommend Dollar Tree. read more

Amy w. (Below) Thank you for filing the complaint. I had two similar situations at this store with a lady named Anna! I have 3 boys and a baby. My kids love the dollar store. They go there to spend their hard earned chore money. The first time I went in there with my little ones my 2 year old needed to use the potty and he had just got done potty training. I walked over to the bathrooms and they were all locked so I asked Anna if she could unlock them for my two year old. She told me she had just got done cleaning them and would prefer no one use them right now so I told her well.. unless you want my child to pee on the floor I need to use the "freshly cleaned" restroom. She rudely stomped to the restroom to unlock it for me and then said to me "make sure he aims right" I was completely shocked. Then the second time I was in there I was trying to get the carts unstuck and she rushes over in he middle of a check out at the register acting like I'm bugging her and says " you just have all your dang kids in here" so I looked her in the eyes and said excuse me????? Her eyes got all big and she quickly said oh you just have your hands full and then quickly said how cute my baby was, trying to make up for her spit out rude words. I have always enjoyed going to the dollar store with my little ones but now I just feel like a nuisance. If anything she should have respect for me for being able to balance 3 boys and a baby so well! read more

So this is my first review ever but I had to daddy something b cuz I felt extremely disrepected while I (a single mom of two toddler girls) was shopping with my daughter's! Just went in to get some plant and art supplies and we decided to browse around to c if there might have been something else we needed, and one of their male employees came up to me and said "r u going to buy anything or r u just here to let your kids take everyrhing off the shelves and brake it" My reply seeing nothing on the floor or broken was "excuse me do u see my full cart? And what stuff r u talking about being broken?" He began to go on telling me that I'm not in control if my children becuz they r grabbing everything sorry, but last time I checked kids will be kids and that's exactly what I said to him and grabbed my daughter's and walked out leaving a very full cart of stuff for him to put away. Yes I give my kids their space so they might be at one end of the isle while I'm on the other, but my motherly instincts r always watching, and if anything that I'm not buying ends up on the floor or even in another isle I'm the kinda person to put it back where it goes. So with being said I will never step foot into this store again, and all becuz some guy apparently has never been around children before! Just left your Cameron Park, CA store angry as Hell. I've lived in this town for almost three years and shopped at your store 50-100 times prior to today - the absolute worst customer servicve experience I've ever had in my entire 58 year old life. I stopped in today to pick up a couple items and got glared at by one of your customers who muttered something about my servicve dog as she walked by me. I asked her what she said and she said that I shouldn't bring a dog into a store that had food. I explained that she was a service dog and that she'd be fine. The woman said "Well, if she's a service dog where's her service vest"? I told her its almost a 100* outside, then asked her where her coat was. She babbled something I couldn't understand, and I asked her if she was the service dog police? At this point the customer walked out, and your employee Janet picked up right where she left off by accusing me of lying about my dog being a registered service animal. She said "If she's a service animal, make her sit." Knowing full well I don't have to prove anything to anybody about whether or not she's a service dog, I gave my dog a verbal command to "SIT." As she turned to position herself in the narrow checkout aisle to sit, Janet said.... "See, I told you that isn't a FUCKING service dog." The customer ahead of me in line asked her to stop swearing in front of his two young children, and finish up his transaction instead of harrassing me. Realizing she's dropped an "F-Bomb" loud enough for everyone to hear, she apologized to him but told me to leave the store. I asked her if she was really that ignorant, and pulled my dog's service ID out of my wallet to show her and asked to speak with the manager. She claimed she was the manager and told me to "Get out of my fucking store." She then grabbed my items, told me she wasn't selling me "shit" and ran into the office, slamming the door shut behind her. Everybody in the store was staring in disbelief because of the hysterical, loud, and highly unprofessional scene she'd just made. She obviously hasn't been trained in customer service properly and is unaware of ADA policies concerning disabled people such as myself. I was shocked but figured maybe she was just menapausal, and having a bad day. I asked the other clerk if she'd heard all that, and she said "YES" and apologized to me as I was walking out in disbelief. I recognized the other clerk from prior trips to the Coach Lane Dollar Tree, but not this Janet person who mistreated this customer beyond what should realistically keep her employed. I'd like somebody within the coorporation to address this matter ASAP to ensure this type of behavior doesn't continue. It's sure not good business! read more
