When I first heard of Daiso, this place was described as the dollar store version for Japan. And…read morealthough the currency exchange rate isn't exactly accurate when it comes to the prices, things were still reasonable. What I mean is the Japanese pricing on the tag not fully exchanging over to the USD amount when you do the conversion. It should in theory be cheaper, but it's not. You can find all sorts of things here: stationary, plushies, snacks, trinkets, home decor, toys, to accessories (travel, pet, bag, cutesy female stuff). It's a really fun variety store to visit and browse. And even within each category, there were lots of options. Like the house slippers for instance, there were so many colors and designs. And for the kiddos, there were lots of seasonal plushies of varying sizes. Like bunnies for Easter, throw pillows, or squishy ones for hugging. This store is like a toy store for adults! Also if you're buying a lot of random trinkets and knick knacks, they do not provide bags. You can most certainly purchase one of their totes or bags. But my pro tip is to bring your own. Waste less plastic with all the gizmos you're buying. :) Because of the Japanese price on the tag doesn't fully exchange over exactly, I'm not giving Daiso the full 5 stars.

It is one of the biggest Daiso locations I've visited outside my state. I would have loved to buy more merchandise, but I wasn't able to bring it back on my trip. I did find what I needed, though. The prices were the same as in NYC, with no significant difference. Overall, I would love to come back and visit again in the near future.

For Valentine's Day I wanted a couple sweet treats for my lovelies at home and picked out a PB/Choc truffle for my fiancé and two chocolate covered Oreos for my 15 yr old Oreo loving step daughter to be. $1-2 something each and the report was thumbs up for all! Probably not a place I will regularly search for gifts (a little pricey) but it is fun to browse sometimes when I'm on the street to get my hair done at Van Michael.

Is it me or is Midtown starved when it comes to the shopping scene? Outside of going to a mall or…read morestrip mall there is no neighborhood to just walk around and shop. Well this store fills that void. Packing a little bit of everything into a small footprint. If you need to find a present for someone on your way to a dinner party on 14th and Juniper this is your savior. Coffee table books, , chocolates, and even stuffed animals if you are on your way to a baby shower. I have found Midtown branded socks and cocktail books here. The service is always friendly sky and attentive but not pushy. I have been in here a few time and didn't not buy anything. While that may not sound like a good thing it was. I never feel pressured that if I am mot 100% sure I want to get something I should not bother going in. With a constantly rotating inventory visiting frequently is a must. The feel is of a well curated family run museum gift shop!
