For Valentine's Day I wanted a couple sweet treats for my lovelies at home and picked out a PB/Choc truffle for my fiancé and two chocolate covered Oreos for my 15 yr old Oreo loving step daughter to be. $1-2 something each and the report was thumbs up for all! Is it me or is Midtown starved when it comes to the shopping scene? Outside of going to a mall or strip mall there is no neighborhood to just walk around and shop. Well this store fills that void. Packing a little bit of everything into a small footprint. If you need to find a present for someone on your way to a dinner party on 14th and Juniper this is your savior. Coffee table books, , chocolates, and even stuffed animals if you are on your way to a baby shower. I have found Midtown branded socks and cocktail books here. The service is always friendly sky and attentive but not pushy. I have been in here a few time and didn't not buy anything. While that may not sound like a good thing it was. I never feel pressured that if I am mot 100% sure I want to get something I should not bother going in. With a constantly rotating inventory visiting frequently is a must. Love love love Eco Denizen! Whenever I have friends visit me in Atlanta who are looking for a souvenir to take home, I point them to this cute little shop. Located near Piedmont Park and the Federal Reserve in Midtown, you can easily make a day out of your visit. I often walk, given that I live nearby, but there is lots of parking in the area. On my most recent visit, I picked up a handmade bubble bath + salt soak as a Valentine's Day present. I also chose 6 truffles from their display (Espresso, Tiramisu, Sea Salt Caramel, Red Velvet, Creme Brûlée, and Oreo!) and they were delicious. The workers made sure to package everything in a cute bag with tissue paper, and took care to remove tags for me as it was a gift. The store was only moderately busy for being the day before Valentine's Day, and they were stocked with cute ATL prints/cards, fresh flowers, local jam and honey, cocktail glasses, and other handmade goods! It can be a little pricy (candles are similarly priced to Anthropologie, I'd say!), but about what you would expect to pay for artisan items in a Midtown boutique. Overall, makes a great spot to pick up gifts and support local makers! read more

If there were ever a store that "serendipity" was it's tagline- it's Eco Denizen! I adore this place. It's unique and full of incredible gifts for all ages. The fun and beautiful stuffed animals, books, & smart toys for the kids. Moreover the store is teeming with great gifts for adults that are locally made. There is everything from decor, jewelry, skincare, cook/wine books, & even jams/syrups/kits.. oh my! Only downsides- prices are bit steep but merchandise is high quality and worth it. Parking is not immediately visible but instead there are three hourly decks behind the building and often free streetwise parking on Juniper. Having both a renovation and a build-out in my mind, I decided to stop into EcoDenizen after work today. I thought to just get a good picture of what options I could have when renovating my kitchen and bathroom. I found a beautifully-decorated store with a wide range of items for anyone from the casual shopper to someone (like me) who's interested in some potentially serious gutting-and-replacing work. I first just browsed around, noting items like bulk cleaning products, tumblers made from old wine bottles, and tote bags made from old seatbelts. As I was browsing, Gene (or T. Gene from his business card) asked if I was looking for anything in particular, and we got to talking about more involved green choices in the home. I learned that in addition to eco-friendly odds and ends such as LED lightbulbs, EcoDenizen will also provide architectural design and renovation services through Gene's wife (who is an architect whose name I didn't happen to catch), such as kitchen remodels for countertops or cabinets, or lighting redesign. To top this all off, while I had to take a call, Gene helped another couple who walked into the store with a question about where to find live music. I think I walked past Eco Denizen before but had NO idea what they sold or what services they provided. Last month, when I went to Charleston, I discovered this shampoo made by Beekman 1802 and I started looking up where they were sold near me. Turns out Eco Denizen was one of their carriers so while I was hanging around Midtown recently, I stopped by Eco Denizen. The store is interesting as it stocks lots of things that are great for gifts or for decorating your home. It's slightly unorganized and can feel a little overwhelming for its organized chaos. I think the common theme is that there are eco-friendly and some natural products here. They carry the full line of Jack Black's men's products, select products from Sugarfina, and they make their own chocolate truffles. The store is kind of small and I must have made at least 2-3 rounds in it without finding any trace of Beekman products. The salesperson's movement was SO slow with assisting a customer that I had to wait on the side for a while before I could ask her a question. When I asked if they carry Beekman products, it seemed like she had no idea and said they don't carry women's shampoo. Hmm..ok, it's not really gender-specific. I thanked her and left. Later on, checking Beekman's site, Eco Denizen was no longer listed as a reseller, so maybe this was a recent change. I probably won't go out of my way to come here unless I want to find some kind of unique gift that has "Georgia" or "Atlanta" in it. Service was slow and surprisingly, I got a headache from looking/browsing in this store because there's just a LOT when I'm trying to find a specific product they don't carry. read more

I walk by this place very often and my brain wants to go in, but my legs are always rushing to get bubble tea at Sweet Hut. I have to say that I'm happy that I finally stopped by. I love places like this and The Merchant over on the Westside right in front of Octane Coffee. Eco Denizen sells an impressive array of locally-made gifts like candles, jewelry, cards, artwork, pet supplies, and a whole lot more. This place is made for people who enjoy browsing and actually stopping to observe the products. The store isn't too small, but it can get a little crowded because they have so many interesting stuff, so if you have love-handles like me, be careful not to knock anything over. read more

I have walked by this store before, but yesterday I finally went in. WOW! This is such a great place for gifts. They have everything from local products like honey and pecans, to soaps, to inspirational stones, to coloring books. One area that I loved was the kids selection. I know kids books well and the selection they offer are such great books to give as gifts. They also have kids coloring books like Frozen. They look like the adult coloring books so they have harder covers and nicer paper. My daughter is going to love hers. They have a selection of cards that are different than your average Hallmark too. Oh, did I forget to mention chocolate?!?! This place sells truffles and chocolates that look divine! The woman who was working there was so kind. She was not one of those who hides behind the counter. She was offering assistance to one person, but made eye contact with me and offered to assist me when she was through. Looking for a gift for your mom, brother, boss, nephew, someone you love, someone you don't like? You get the picture. This is a great shop right in Midtown that has a little something for everyone. I stopped here for a family Xmas gift and a birthday gift for my Aunt-in-Law (if that's a thing)? I wandered around for a good 20 minutes just to see all the cute things they offered! Ended up settling on Atlanta-opoly (around $25) and an adult coloring book and coloring pencils (also around $25 although the book was on sale) and of course had to get one of those delicious truffle things at check-out. They have everything from candles to fun socks to stationary to kids games to glassware. Very organized and displayed well and not cluttered at all. I have gone into this store 4 times in the last 2 months and it is UNBEARABLY HOT to be in there, the air is not working and when I was checking out standing in line at the chocolates I saw that the temperature was 83 degrees... totally unacceptable and I would not go in there again. The person behind the counter was sweating and I over heard many people say lets go it is too hot in here. Apparently the owners do not care about their customers or employees. This an outstanding find in the Midtown area of Atlanta about a mile and a 1/2 from the Midtown MARTA station. It is directly across from Taco Mac, and down the street from Sweet Hut. Sonia is beyond helpful and goes above and beyond to assist customers when looking for unique items. We came across Eco Denizen as we were looking for a rug and they were one of the stores that sold this brand. When we got to the store, we found all sorts of other great products and gifts in addition to the rug we were looking for. We walked out of the store with a coloring placemat for our daughter that she was entertained with while we looked around in addition to a sample of the rug. Unfortunately, they had sold out of the rug we wanted (in the size we needed), and it was going to take longer than we could wait to get the rug in. Gene, one of the owners, actually helped me find the rug from another store that could get it in the time we needed.
