When I first heard of Daiso, this place was described as the dollar store version for Japan. And although the currency exchange rate isn't exactly accurate when it comes to the prices, things were still reasonable. What I mean is the Japanese pricing on the tag not fully exchanging over to the USD amount when you do the conversion. It should in theory be cheaper, but it's not. You can find all sorts of things here: stationary, plushies, snacks, trinkets, home decor, toys, to accessories (travel, pet, bag, cutesy female stuff). It's a really fun variety store to visit and browse. And even within each category, there were lots of options. Like the house slippers for instance, there were so many colors and designs. And for the kiddos, there were lots of seasonal plushies of varying sizes. Like bunnies for Easter, throw pillows, or squishy ones for hugging. This store is like a toy store for adults! Also if you're buying a lot of random trinkets and knick knacks, they do not provide bags. You can most certainly purchase one of their totes or bags. But my pro tip is to bring your own. Waste less plastic with all the gizmos you're buying. :) Because of the Japanese price on the tag doesn't fully exchange over exactly, I'm not giving Daiso the full 5 stars. read more

This was my first time visiting Daiso in Atlanta, and I really enjoyed it. The store was well organized and fully stocked. It is one of the biggest Daiso locations I've visited outside my state. I would have loved to buy more merchandise, but I wasn't able to bring it back on my trip. I did find what I needed, though. The prices were the same as in NYC, with no significant difference. I have heard about this chain for years in passing but have never been in one before. Recently stopped in, pretty much knowing what to expect but wanting to see what they had for selection. I cannot compare it to Tokyo Kuma or Ebisu, as I have not gone to either yet, but overall it has a decent variety of household items, novelties, and food. They definitely have a lot of Sanrio character items, especially school items, and a few superhero and Disney sections as well. I would love to peruse the school/office section more at a later date. I left with a few items from various aisles. I did self checkout and had a rough time with one of the teas I was going to purchase as a store label was covering the barcode. It was glued on pretty well but a really nice worker came to my aid and helped me get the label off and enter the price so I could finish checking out. I would definitely come back to see what seasonal things they might have (they had a bunch of Halloween stuff), and to grab more Sanrio or stationary products probably. read more

I have been to the Daisos in Japan so obviously this can't compare. But still a cool store!! The Daiso in Japan I have gone to was HUGE, like an entire floor of a department store. And with way cheaper prices! Like most items were legitimately less than a dollar after the conversion. Obviously I know it's not cheap to import all these goods so of course there will be a markup. The items here are about 3 times the price or even more than the original price. For some items, I still think it's very fair. Cheapest items start at $2.25 and price conversions after markup are listed around the store. It is basically a dollar store in Japan but with more premium prices here after being imported. I was initially unimpressed after my first visit here soon after opening. It was insanely crowded with people and very chaotic inside. A lot of items were out of stock or placed back into random areas. But after a few months, the store was restocked and foot traffic was much less. So it's a much more enjoyable experience now to come in and browse the several aisles. The store now is well stocked. There's a lot of household items, snack items, stationery items, toys, accessories, beauty items, Sanrio stuff, etc. I like cute Sanrio things and stationery items so I like to stock up on things here. Keep in mind not everything in here is made in Japan (same as the Daisos on Japan), but where the item is from is marked on it. Some items are still a good deal after the markups. And some more general items can probably be found at a dollar store or grocery store for even less. Snacks and food items - some will be cheaper at an Asian grocery store. I haven't asked the staff for any help besides checking out. But they seemed pretty friendly so far. There is also a self check out area right by the cashiers. Pretty cool discount Japanese store. This is an odds and ends store where items are priced by codes, look at the code on the item and compare it to the code on the sheets on the aisles. There are listings on each aisle showing the price. From what I could see the prices started at a little over $2. I did find some items that I had been looking for at a fair price. read more

Daiso is FINALLY here! I have been waiting for 8 years. Originally from California and I've been very homesick. Took my babygirl and I to this place. Grand opening was crazy...the line wrapped all the way around the building!! But it was worth it and went by quickly. We got plushes, ice makers, dish sponges, Japanese snacks, food covers, and of course lots of Hello Kitty stuff for a very reasonable price! We will be back for sure! read more

It's very underwhelming, all the makeup was from American drugstore brands. For some reason so many customers don't bother themselves to quickly move when you need to get through an aisle since it's so new and exciting to them I guess. The snack selection is VERY mediocre and the only things I would buy here are organization stuff, ceramics and kitchen/cleaning trinkets. The cashiers were condescending. read more

This is a Japanese version of a dollar store. If you want some unique and inexpensive items, you should check this place out.

Went there once to check it out and it was pretty full of people, and most of the stuff was arts and crafts and pretty boring
