I was looking for some cheapo hand tools and the selection isn't the greatest. Also the aisles are a bit on the narrow side. Guess they were trying to cram in 1 more row of goodies. There is a security guy planted right at the exit. I feel bad for him. How would you ever catch a shoplifter here? Random piece of trivia: this place used to be a Blockbuster video store. Always brings a smile.

Came here on my hunt for cheapo goodies…read more Parking is available in front on Hastings, as well as the various free lots dotting the S side of Hastings. The inside is newer than Dollar Giant (yay!), but the selection is mostly identical. Not too surprising. Oh, and they also pulled the "$1.25" thing. Sigh. One thing to note - they are open longer than Dollar Tree on all 7 days. Something to keep in mind.

But over the last couple of years not only has this store and its content deteriorated but the service has been intolerable everytime I step inside there. Most recent visit I was looking for a few final Christmas knick knacks. Walked in, no staff in site. I wanted to ask about an item I was looking for and finally found all 3 staff in one of the rows chatting away. I didn't bother them nor did they look like they were into helping anyone so went and found a few items on my own. Went to the front desk to purchase. Nothing. After a few minutes someone finally came to the till, completely ignoring me standing there and helped someone else. Rude. Finally I get to give them my money. She asks if I want a bag, yes I have multiple items of course I do. She rings it up and doesn't give me a bag. "I heard you say no" No, you didn't because I didn't say that. So now she wants me to do another transaction to pay 40 cents for a bag. No. Terrible customer service, I would rather walk home holding each individual item than ever give this terrible store another penny of mine.

Mini-wired mouse are so oldschool but my old one broke (long time ago). So I am looking for a replacement. Those things are not easy to find. Nope unfortunately Miniso doesn't carry them. The most…read morecommon cashier is an elderly lady that constantly accuses my kids of stealing when they're with me. The things she says we "took" are brands not even at the store. For example I will have them go to the end of the checkout and bag our items in a bag with another stores logo, and she will say we took that bag from there. Last I checked dollar tree doesn't sell Lululemon or Purdy's chocolate. She also has NEVER said thank you. Just tosses our receipt down and looks away. Now there is a newer cashier there that does not know how to count Canadian coins and embarrassed me in line. I had to count my change for her twice, both times she then recounted it and said I was short. I was not, and if she knew the value of each coin it could have saved me the frustration and embarrassment. When I tried to explain the value of the coins to her she tossed the in the till before I could prove it. It's not like it was a handful, it was three quarters and four nickels. She also told me to grab my own receipt... out of the machine.

You can find a lot of things in here from gardening and kids stuff, ribbons and wrapping paper, binders and pens and a lot more. It is one of the places that sells things that don't look like they can fall apart easily and they have some of the things that you can't find in other dollar stores such as pots and trellis for gardening. It is metered parking on the side street and prices are upwards from $1 to $20, but the items are nicer. They don't have as much food items as other dollar stores, but they have quite a selection on the themes that they do have.

And heh, when a store gets better and better over time - with product offerings, and customer service - it's a pleasure acknowledging this with an updated review. Like I said previously - "everything, and more" - and now, even more!! The staff are so innovative in utilizing the space they have, and more and more products have become available over the years. They still carry a wide-range of odds & ends items - we seek from time to time - but as well, and appreciated, so many other useful household and related items, and even some staples, that are required on a more frequent basis (including food and drink products). And it's still my lady's favourite place for puzzle and word books, some craft supplies, and related). The customer service - I (we) have never experienced the high level of help and assistance delivered here at any other similar store. For me - it works with helpful 'finding something' assistance as required. For my lady though, much more - helpful finding of items, assistance with carrying to check-out, packing, and such - and all so appreciated!! This is a 'Dollar Store', not a Supermarket, or such!! I said we were happy to have such a place in our neighbourhood. I can now emphasize that a touch, and bump up their overall rating -- with 'yes', we are fans!! The area is very dirty and not well maintained. Once in the store the shelves are very high and narrow. It is a very overwhelming feeling if you are sensitive to small spaces/claustrophobic. The amount of items in there is very overwhelming as well. I didn't stay long and mostly stuck to the snacks and candy. They have a large area near the check out that has candy, gum etc. Purchased an aero bar, coffee crisp, kit kit and toffee candy bar. For 4 candy bars (I either didn't get a receipt, didn't take it or lost it but it was $4.07 USD. There were 3 self check outs and one staff there to check out as well. Saw employees in aisles but only one at registers. Overall it was an underwhelming and overwhelming experience and I would not go out of my way to go back if in the area.
