I stop by occasionally to buy my cosmetics if the gift with purchase is worthwhile. Also, I have bought some pillows and bedding. The quality is there but does cost a bit more even when on sale. The store is staffed minimally so it can be challenging to find staff to ask any questions. read more

I went to get a foundation match at Lancome in the Guildford mall Hudsons Bay location this past Saturday and the lady was absolutely terrible. She was incredibly rude and was treating me like I was only there to waste her time. She gave me a sample (a tiny dot that wasn't even enough for one foundation application) and did not even write the shade match on the back. After I still went ahead and bought about 200$ worth of my regular skin care products. Although I now wish I had waited and bought it from the one in Willowbrook mall. Ps. I only gave it a 1/5 because you have to for it to post, or else I wouldn't give this place a single star. Go else where if you wish to be treated like a respected costumer cause you most certainly will not get that sort of treatment here. read more

Does anyone still shop at The Bay? OK maybe folks my parents age. This place hasn't changed since when I was a teen. Sad. And the Olympic section that they had was even sadder. Why force us Surreyites to have to go downtown to get decent Oly swag? This is the department store of perpetual 25%, 50%, or heaven forbid ... 75% off sales. The level of customer service I received twice tonight was unbelievable. First, while looking at their selection of diamond rings a manager interrupted the sales associate to discuss something to do with closing the store. This happened about 3 hours before the store was closing. There wasn't even an "excuse me" or a "just a moment" just walked away while I stood at the case staring at what I wanted to look at and back at the employees. Not the service you'd expect from someone who's job is to sell jewellery. Later, after being joined by my friend, was looking for a dress for an upcoming event. First, the associate actually had to be asked to open a fitting room by another customer in the same area even though she had just been looking at both of us standing beside the fitting room entrance holding multiple items. She looked directly at us then went back to hanging something up at the till. After trying and finding something I liked I went to the till and there was no price tag. They brought a few similar dresses to estimate the price but the one I had found had been on the clearance rack and their suggestions were new styles. The younger sales associate was very polite and friendly about the transaction but the older woman was super unfriendly and seemed very put out by my questions. There was a bit of back and forth before she offered to call the manager to ask. When the manager arrived it was the same woman from earlier. She displayed the same level of customer service during this interaction as she did earlier. I walked away from The Bay without any ring, dress or the other item I was interested in because of the service. The state of the store was also awful. Jewelry section had empty cases and boxes all over. The women's department looked like there hadn't been any tidying in the last month. Which I understand happens but pretty pathetic considering the prices. read more

I wouldN'T EVEN GIVE 1 STAR .. The manager which is an indian lady named Anmand in beauty department SHE is VEYR RUDE! I ordered this dior lipstick online which I tried and too dry for me, so I went back with the receipt thinking if exchange or return. the BA was new so she asked Anmand if I can do exchange or return. On the online receipt it DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT NO RETURN IF OPENED PACKAGE, it SAYS IF YOU ARE NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASE JUST SIMPLE RETURN IT! As the customer, I only chk the return policy on the receipt. if I open the package then I will not return it. and you know what? Anmand was very rude DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT ME and saying.. you tried it, so no return or exchange. it's DIOR POLICY. R u fucking kidding me? why you lie to me? My friend returned the same lipstick that she ordered online to downtown the bay, no one told her can't return for what DIOR POLICY. As the beauty department manager , you lie to your customer and you are being very RUDE! I will not order anything from THE BAY ONLINE or go to beauty dept in the location. read more

A monumental incident has occurred: Miss Carolyn has graduated from an ugly, beaten up, incredibly oversize bag to a pretty and elegant purse. And who'da thunk it? It came from a rather unlikely place. From the time I was old enough to walk on my own, departments stores like The Bay have been the bane of my existence. A multi-level emporium of all things I wasn't interested in, from housewares to suits, yet it remains a retail mecca to my mom who insists on dragging me though each time. While I've transformed from tantrum-throwing toddler to a simply sour-faced lady, I've held fast to the notion that department stores such as these offer nothing for me. However, hearing the siren call of discount deals during the Hudson's Bay "Bay Days" event, my mom (with me in tow) couldn't help but scurry down to Guildford Mall in the hopes of scoring some loot. If you've been inside Guildford Mall as of late, you'll have already noticed that renovations are underway, and this woebegone flashback to an era long forgotten is quickly metamorphosing before our eyes. Unfortunately, before Guildford can erupt from the chaos like a beautiful bazaar butterfly, the chrysalis stage of its evolution has temporarily left this space near empty and bereft of shoppers. Perhaps this is why, in spite of sales, this Bay has plenty to offer. Bags, and bags, and bags. Some up to 50% off, and not just your grandma's tote bag either! Fashionable finds from Guess, Jessica Simpson, Steve Madden, and the like still sittin' pretty on sale racks, untouched by penny-pinching patrons. My faith restored, I looked around even further to discover cute shoes and clothing too. Maybe I'm the last person on Earth to have learned this, but The Bay really does have some good products. Don't be deterred by linens and old-lady garb, they sit side by side with affordable flats, bags, shirts, dresses, and more. In the end, I decided on a turquoise Steve Madden purse that, after toting such a monsterous carryall for so long, makes me feel like a million bucks! And I even got a great deal on it. Had my make up done for grad, didn't do that great of job at Lancome but I thought I'd try again for a wedding. Called three times to attempt to make an appointment, no one bothers to take down my info just tells me to call back later. Def won't get my make up done there I would rather pay someone else who deserves my money! I like the bay in general but guilford mall cosmetics needs to have better customer service! read more

Actually, it depends on which Bay location you are talking about as some are way better than others. Take the Queen St store downtown Toronto- it has excellent merchandise, I think it all depends on demographic. read more

This is a review of the Bay's online ordering system. I would rate them negative stars if I could. I ordered an item in the store which was to be delivered to my doorstep within 5 business days. It was a gift for my mom's birthday which has now passed and I have still not received my item or any explanation. The tracking number indicates the item has been delivered however I have not received my order. The service agent has advised me that someone in the Bays online department will look into this and get back to me in 21 to 25 business days....ARE YOU FRICKING KIDDING ME, AN ENTIRE MONTH???? TOTAL BS. Please do not order from the Bay online as you may not get your item and it could be months before you get any answers. Stick to people who know what they are doing with online orders like Nordstrom etc! read more

I love the Bay now!!!I did most of my Christmas shopping at the 'One Day Sale' and got all my gifts at huge discounts.When they have a sale you can't beat their prices. They have a great selection in all departments and I just received another $20 to spend on any amount I buy with no strings attached. The Bay is my favourite Canadian department store. I have purchased many items, from major appliances and a mattress, quality clothing and a variety of kitchen products. Another department I'm drawn to is the iconic Bay collection, love those stripes. I can usually find a great gift at a price that leaves me happy while shopping at the Bay :) read more

SCAM!!!!!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE BAY!!!!! bought lot of furnitures and had them delivered to my place. The sale representative who helped me promised a discount refund after delivery is done. He also wrote it done on him business card with his signiture. After hell of trouble in delivery becuase the delivery team PUSHED the sofa into my door the whole time... yes.. not lifting... pushing!!!!! I called back the store several times to get my discount. Turned out the sale representative no longer works for the bay. I went to the store to talk to the supervisor and she said that they don't deal with anything after I accept the furniture. I have to call the call centre and have them to deal with the discount scam. Been pushing back and forth and they still have not given me the refund. Also been told that since the employee no longer works for them. They will not be responsible for anything he promised or wrote. BIGGEST SCAM EVER! read more
