The store itself is located next to some concert venue or something of that sort because the entire place was literally shaking from the noise of a couple of electric guitars and a drum set. That would've driven me nuts personally, but maybe the owners are okay with it. The lady was pretty friendly, and answered my questions on the phone. She was also able to find every item on the list. Where would we be without these stores. My only complaint is that the stuff here isn't the cheapest. It's not really a dollar store. Stuff ranged from $2-5. Yes it's still convenient, but call yourself a toonie store if you have to.

This shop is very well stocked up with art and office supplies, party supplies like paper plates and cups, holiday decorations and kitchen and bath necessities. He always has current holiday supplies, cards and a good assortment of gift wrapping needs. I love the little blank books, lined and unlined for only a few dollars that are too expensive elsewhere. You could even pick up a few "stocking stuffers" for the right price here. If you're in the neighbourhood, and you remember you need some last minute things, this is your place. *Also to note, a chocolate store across the street, an excellent bakery and a fine meat shop next door.

Overall, the quality seems to be slightly above the standard dollar store, variety but I can't say that I've ventured so far as to purchase these here. It's also a good spot to go for disposable baking tins when you don't want to splurge for the real thing. They are fast and efficient, too. No complaints here, but then again, I really don't know of any 4 star dollar stores, either.

I admit that I rage quit going to Dollar Giant for a while when they raised the price of their items to $1.25. Granted, that's only an extra $1 per four items, but I'm a hobo. I hadn't been to this one before, and Christmas Eve rolled around just in time for me to finish my boyfriend's painting and realized that the frame did not fit! It was a painting/pencil drawing on tea stained paper, so it didn't need a special frame, just an 8x12 glass frame. However, everywhere I went the frames were $30+ for being 8x12 instead of the standard 8x10. "Heck, I'll just check the dollar store!" I thought, with not much hope. What do I find? An 8x12 glass frame for that good ol' reliable $1.25! That experienced topped off my dollar store love tank, for sure. I'll note that this Dollar Giant is significantly smaller than all of the other ones I've ever been to, so it's pretty cramped and the selection is way smaller. If you're in the Commercial area, definitely go a bit out of your way to the one on the Drive instead.
