Walmarts are the same for the most part, with these big box concepts, just the clientele ia different. As such, not surprisingly, Indo Canadians are dominant here. The produce section being right at the front is convenient, bigger selection, and quite tidy. already have the Easter bunnies out in full force, at the right entrance. Mcdonald's on the other side. Today I went to buy a couple of things, and used the express lanes. When I got to a cashier, I was first asked if I wanted to use my walmart credit card today for my purchases. I said no. She asked if I wanted to apply for a walmart credit card. I said no thank you. She asked was I sure, they had very good interest rates. I AGAIN said no. Then I was asked if I wanted to donate $2 to a local charity. I said no. Finally, she asked me for my postal code, to which I said no. When I go shopping, I don't want to be hounded by salespeople. By the time I left the store I was fuming. Is it too much to ask to just pay for my purchase and leave? Seriously, I am put off enough that the next time I need to do a quick shop I will most likely go anywhere but walmart, if only just to avoid all the hassle. Not only is it unfair to your customers, but to your staff, who undoubtedly get snarky replies. This has to change. P.S. Your employees park in the "reserved for parents with children" and handicapped spots. Shame on you. read more

Not recommended. My friend and I were trying to feel these Lego minifigures blindpacks in their toy section, we noticed like 10 out of 50 packs had a hole probably from previous customers so we peeked into the packagings to see which figure it was. All of a sudden, some dude in regular clothing comes up to us and say we are not suppose to manhandle and feel these soft packaging because they had customer complaint before and in the end no one would buy them and they would have to count it as shrink. He also asked us if we were the same people from last week. I asked who this fellow was and he refused to provide a name and ID, he said if he showed us we would be in serious trouble. I then asked if he is security and he said no, then I said Loss Prevention and he finally said yes. He then starts accusing us of opening the packages and basically making a scene right on the spot, we tried explaining that the packages already had a hole when we got there but he wasn't listening. He then asked an lady associate (10yrs experience according to her nametag) who works in the toy section if what we were doing is correct, the lady told him right in front of us that these are collectibles and feeling the package is the only way to get the ones the customer wants and it is perfectly fine. At this point, both my friend and I demanded an apology from this Loss Prevention fellow and he refused, kept trying to say that he has the correct point and even had the nerve to say this is common sense. I asked him why aren't these locked up or why didn't you put up a sign saying "no feeling of packages" then, he said he will write a sign and put locking cases up. Unbelievable! These are soft packages, no matter how I feel them they would still remain soft in the end so I really don't see what he is trying to accomplish by approaching us instead of trying to catch someone who maybe committing thief at the other side of the store or sth. He might as well talk to all the people who reads the magazines in the magazine section as most likely the magazine would end up in rough shape with fingerprints and creased covers plus pages after, or even talk to the customers in Produce for picking out the better quality fruit and veggies before they buy. The fellow left and I handed the packages with a hole to the same 10yr lady associate and told her that your Loss Prevention co-worker said these are consider shrinkage but she said it is fine and just asked us to put them back with the rest of the good packages. This clearly demonstrates there is no communication at all between their staff. Wanted to talk to the store manager but he wasn't there, end up getting an apology from one of the managers at customer service. I've been buying these blindpacks for the past couple of years and I always feel the packages before I buy, I never got a problem at other Walmarts and one time the toy manager of another store even helped me out by feeling the packages with me lol. This Loss Prevention dude clearly lacks common sense, if my friend and I really were the ones that open the packages, why would we still waste time standing in the aisle to feel them and guess which figure is in the package? This dude doesn't even know how to do his job properly and is speaking to customers on behalf of the store and company? Makes us wonder how good of a management this Surrey West location has.
