Imagine that. A store with "dollar" in the title selling things for a "dollar." If I wanted items that cost more, I'd probably hit a Big Lots. Like a lot of you I have in-laws. D-o-l-l-a-r T-r-e-e! For my MIL...gifts from the dollar store. I bought a few things for her kitchen, socks, deodorant, breath mints and mylar balloons.....all for under $20. Happy Birthday, Mom! Can't wait for Christmas, hohoho. These DT ladies are incredibly friendly and patient. Even though they see me twice a year and know I'm only buying gifts for my satanic MIL and cheap-ass FIL. I am greeted with a smile and thoughtful conversation. They always seem curious as to when my flight for Tahoe leaves. I've explained it's a flight to Reno at least six times. Some might be cleaner than others, but for the most part it's the same. What I will say is that as far as Dollar Generals go, they always seem to come through with the seasonal pickups. I was able to pick up some candy, some cheap Halloween items and even grabbed an early Thanksgiving ornaments. The quality might not be the best in the world, but you're at Dollar General not Pottery Barn. Aside from candy, I'm also my certain that the hanes t shirts are cheaper her than they are at somewhere like Walmart or Target. I've always encounter nice staff, and it's a pretty decent sized store. Overall a solid spot for some cheap items.

The location is quiet busy so keep that in consideration and plan accordingly. The store feels less cramped and more polished than the old one that was across the street. As you can see there are two doors, one for Homegoods and one for Marshall's. The stores are connected when you get inside. Looks like they open at 8am, which could be seasonal. The artwork seemed to have less inventory, but extremely larger art pieces. So many blankets and throws, which was quite surprising as they were tripled in quantity. I was a little disappointed with the furniture inventory, as I thought it would be more. Perhaps the size of the store gives the feeling that it was less. Anyway it is a great location, It's Marshall's and Homegoods so what else is there to say. I am hoping after the holidays they stock more high-end selections of everything.

The concept of Once Upon a Child is brilliant but there are a lot of cons to it as well. Kind of got to curb your enthusiasm with this place. If you are selling - you are only allowed to bring in so many bins/laundry baskets full of your things. Garbage bags are not allowed. Lately this store has allowed 2 bins to try to sell. Each store is different with how they will take clothes that you want to sell. My favorite is carrying a 20 gallon storage bin and barely being able to open the door - all your pride is out of the window trying to open that door along with your bins. Staff barely acknowledge your presence. There is a kiosk that you have to enter your driver's license in the back of it and this inputs your information. It lets you know how long the wait will be. Depending on the day, I have waited an hour but other times it has been hours and hours, might as well come back the next day. The staff will then hand you your receipt and tag your bin. I try to stick around to shop so then I can use the 15% off coupon they give you when they buy your items. The store is packed - shoes, clothes, books, seasonal items, and toys in between. Most clothes I see are being sold for $7 or less - mostly $5-4 is usually the items I have bought. The clothes are clean and I feel for fast fashion, cheaper to buy here then on Amazon. I asked to see what clothes they took out of curiosity and the staff was adamant that I had to keep the clothes in order of how they were laid in their bin. This store seems to like sports gear like a Lions or Tigers shirt and name brands. The most they have taken from me was 23 items, last time I went they took 16 items but I had my 20 gallon storage bin that was full. You can ask for either store credit or cash. I usually try to buy things while I am there to just make it a wash and use the 15% coupon with my transaction. One staff member was amazing in my many times coming here - otherwise, no customer service and staff seem miserable working there. But as a mom - not left with many choices. There are consignment stores in the area but I don't have time for that. I usually donate my clothes to the Grace Center of Hope - Women and Children's Center. Good luck, moms!
