It's well organized place. They have the men's clothing in the center, towards the back of the store. I was looking for a certain color jacket and style for my husband. He needed a jacket for a work theme event for a day. It seem pointless to go to a store and buy something new. I wasn't able to find anything that looked modern enough or for the season I was looking for. I saw a lot of jackets that were part of a suit. Some could be used as a sport coat, but weren't exactly the style I was looking for. Additionally it was hard to determine if the size it would be close enough. Many were sized as small, medium or large or extra large. I was looking for actual measurements, which I wasn't able to see money listed. I think it would be an ideal place to buy infant clothing, since babies grow out of their clothing by the weeks.

We were shopping in Royal Oak, and a sales clerk told hs to stop in here for great steals. Honestly, it was a bit difficult navigating through the store. I was also a bit shocked at some of the prices. They wanted $12 for a "name brand" shirt that was way out of style. You could tell this shirt has not been sold in stores for years, and the color was fading even. There was a lot of out of style clothing. We did see a few nice shirts here and there, but there was tons of racks with nothing good. They had cute boutique and vintage racks. Some of the boutique racks did not make sense to me. I was not sure why they had some very old clothing items on those racks and were overpriced just because of the name. I can see myself possibly buying some vintage items, but I will not overpay. Even though there was some issues, my sister was still able to find two dresses. We got 50% off a dress that was $14 because it was a name brand. She also got 50% off another dress. They had 25% off for students and teachers which is awesome. They do have a lot of sales, so some prices may make sense. I just did not like seeing old items overpriced. It may be worth a stop for those looking for older styles.

Priced at $10... got it for $5.30 after store discounts!

Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.

There's quite a few things that are very worn and torn in places. I know this is a thrift store, but the merchandise should still be expected for damage. Service is hit or miss, have had very rude condescending cashiers and at other times helpful. They have a system where you are supposed to remove your own hangers from the clothes before you go up to the register. This might help if they are very busy, but I have not seen more than a few people at a time in there. It's odd when the cashier is just standing there watching you do this. Not the best shopping experience, but if you know what to expect it's fine.

This is an excellent project to restore business at the old Walgreens location on the corner of Greenfield and 12 Mile roads. I missed the grand opening on April 24th, however, I couldn't wait to shop on Friday the next day. The service was excellent! The manager, Dee Dee, was leading the way with smiles and assistance. Shout out to my clerk, Ivori, who explained how the rewards program works. I was truly surprised by the vast selection for this new store. I was shopping for books, DVDs, toddler and women's clothing. Bingo! I found something in all four areas. I purchased a hardcover novel, Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon, a Daddy Daycare DVD, a toddler burgundy sweater and a ladies royal blue jumpsuit (coming to a concert near you), all for the low tariffs-free price of $16.49 plus a $1.00 donation. Shop local! I'm just saying! Rewards have their perks too! I can't wait until I start getting notifications of their 50% off days on donated merchandise.

I am an Apheresis donor, meaning they don't take the traditional whole blood, only the component(s) they need the most, and returning the rest to me. Yesterday I made a triple - my donation of platelets was enough to help three separate recipients. Apparently, this was a first for me, as I have made double donations many times before. Apheresis involves being hooked up to a machine and having the blood cycled through, filtering out the component that they need most. In addition to platelets, I have given red blood cells in the past, sometimes double-red donations. I was told of a video that was shot a couple years ago here in Detroit by a local TV station - WDIV Channel 4. It walks you through the whole process from donor to recipient(s). A little over 12 minutes long, even if you have never donated blood, it should be interesting to see how the blood makes it's way from one arm to the next, saving lives that would otherwise be lost. Modern conveniences turn this blood donation into a luxury cruise. Really, you don't have to go anywhere and you get to watch traffic sail by on Woodward with a slightly lightheaded feeling. Friendly staff cater to your needs, bringing pillows and making sure you are comfortable. At the end you get to stop at the snack bar for cookies, juice and water, serenaded by soft rock and smiling seniors who volunteer and work here. Being stabbed in the arm by a long, pointy needle isn't that different from being on board the average ship, right? Like a good Princess Cruise or Carnival boat, you're expected to sprawl out and enjoy yourself in cozy reclining chair/beds. Do away with those horrible strappy contraptions at temporary donation sites, and hie yourself here for a great thirty minute stopover. Get in some reading, chat with the entertaining staff, or daydream. It's cheaper than popping down to a dock and you have far less chance of getting Norovirus. Cruise ships only wish they were this clean. The longest part of your visit will be post check-in when you run the gauntlet of reading materials and waiting on a doctor or nurse to check your hemoglobin in. Customs on a tiny island is usually worse though peak hours can be a bit of a drag. Unlike those ports of call, Berkley Blood Centre offers magazines for those who don't come armed with their own book or Kindle. Once you're through, though, the stay is a quick and efficient one. The staff have their procedures down and smoothly progress through setting you up and explaining the rules until you're pumping your fist in the air and looking forward to that prize cookie. The Blood Center sits at the corner of Catalpa and Woodward across from Trader Joe's and the easy parking. Ample parking can be found in the lot adjacent to the small complex, though expect crowds if the ever delicious Donut Cutter is open. New, horrible people with the most toxic store culture now badly manage it, staff it, and over price it. Nose rings girl wouldn't let my friend use the bathroom, told her to walk down the block on a cold to other shops where there wasn't a bathroom available so she returned and told them she was having an acccident in her pants so the manager, Rachel, finallly let her in. Accident wouldn't have happened if she'd been let in the first time. I was shopping the whole time and unaware all this happened. After 20 minutes in the store, I started looking for my friend and asked sales staff if they had seen her. It was a cold windy day when nose rings girl told my friend to walk down the block. Orangey haired sales person and Rachel then double teamed me. One of them said, "This is why we don't let people use the bathroom. They always leave a puddle on the floor. It's mot my job to clean up their messes. CLEAN UP HER MESS!" I tried to explain that she wasn't my relative. They knew nothing about me and my relationship to my friend. I tried to explain but they kept ORDERING ME to clean up her mess. They said they were picking out used slacks for her so I went out to the pants rack to pick out a pair and told them so. There waa one if them picking out a pair so long my friend who is tiny woukd have tripped and falken them. I said, "These pants are too long, let me pick a pair" but she bizarrely replied, "We don't hem pants " I replied, "Hemming? This is a used clothing store and so I wouldn't assume you do tailoring!" She wouldn't let me pick out pants so I said, "I will pay for them." She still wouldn't let me pick them out and would not acquiesce to my request. So we both arrive in the bathroom area where the other one was loudly saying to my friend, who didn't need pants, "Your friend isn't happy with me" repeatedly, bad mouthing me to her. I interjected, "How dare you speak for me!" but this didn't stop her monologue about me. Nor was I going to clean up their bathroom. Unbelievable. If this was their "protocol" how many other people had they bullied and treated in a nasty, dehumanizing way? I had enough and said to my friend; "Let's go! I have been a customer for over 30 years and I'm never coming back." Punchline: my friend had been wearing Depends and didn't mess up their bathroom. Also my friend and I are Jewish and it felt like employees committed an antisemitic hate crime against me.
