The roasted strawberry, raspberry, and dark chocolate was a great combination. Location is perfect for a stroll around Bethesda row. This location is much better than the one at the Hirschhorn museum- most of the time they don't have ice cream there! Just the coffee, which I haven't tried. It's a classic place to get your gelato fix. read more

Legit, very good. I seriously liked the peanut butter straciatella and the milk chocolate; the boy loved the dark chocolate. The mango was OK so minus one star. read more

After a delightful lunch with a dear friend, we sauntered on over to Dolcezza for a little gelato. Tucked neatly away amidst the cobblestone of Bethesda Row, Dolcezza offers an array of sophisticated and unique flavors of gelato. I sampled the pumpkin, avocado honey lime, and pistachio flavors before settling on the dulche de leche. I ordered a kid size cup and the lady working there served up a heaping amount into the small container. My friend ordered a small cup, with two flavors- coconut and sumatra-cinnamon. Although a little pricey (a little over $8 for both), it was absolutely worth it! The dulce de leche was smooth and full of rich flavor, with little flakes of chocolate laced throughout. We sat in the back on two comfy, white chairs as we chatted and enjoyed our gelato. I also ordered some jasmine tea and it was fabulous! It was like sipping on a delicious bouquet of florals served in a simple yet attractive mug. I was also informed that they look to local farmers first for their ingredients. Additionally, I found it impressive that the gelato is made fresh daily and that the flavors change often, seasonally and otherwise. I can't wait to come back here sometime soon to sample some more flavors! read more

A cute little shop around Bethesda Row. They have a few tables cramped inside, but the best thing to do is find a seat outside and enjoy your gelato in the sun. When we came here, there was a line just long enough for us to look over the flavors. There wasn't anything too crazy when we went, but we still wanted to try some of the more peculiar ones. The staff seemed to have a "can you please hurry up" attitude and expected us to know what we wanted after just one sample (which we both disliked). I ended up getting a small cup with thai coconut milk and champagne mango. I didn't think the champagne would make much of a difference, but it made the flavor more effervescent and less sweet. The coconut flavor was smoothed out nicely by the milk without any of the sunscreen taste. Together it made a great combo. They're also good about packing in as much gelato possible to make up for the price. Overall, the gelato is a win, the service not so much. Hope to come back to try their more interesting flavors. read more

I've now made it to all the Dolcezza locations in the metropolitan area! Like the other Dolcezzas in the area, this Dolcezza serves up some of the best gelato D.C. has ever seen. Some of my favorite gelato and sorbet flavors include: black sesame, lemon opal basil, lime rosewater, avocado honey orange, valrhona chocolate amargo, hairbender espresso, Thai coconut milk, and that's just a few. They also make great coffees here. Try their Stumptown hairbender espresso. It's really good, especially made the Chemex way! Open Monday through Thursday and Sunday until 10pm, Friday and Saturdays until 11pm. Hours aren't as long as some of their other locations. Half the fat and calories as regular old ice cream? Freshly made every morning? Unique and seasonally appropriate flavors, and local ingredients? Four for you, Dolcezza! read more

Not quite as awesome as my Dolcezza experience in DC. Gelato is pretty creamy, though the avocado flavor was too light and the champagne mango didn't quite mesh. While I enjoyed the combination recommended by the staff member-- props for suggesting the seasonal ingredients at their peak-- I was slightly disappointed with the final product. The strawberry tequila that I had enjoyed the tartness of in plain form lost all its tanginess when blended into a thin milkshake with dulce de leche with strawberries. The latter blended into a thicker mixture with strawberries & cream. Smalls are portioned conservatively. Blood orange was more potent than pineapple mint, and Thai coconut milk always wins me over. Chocolate was a bit rich for me, and lemon opal basil was worth trying. read more

This is definitely our go to place for coffee and gelato when we are in the area. Chic interiors and plenty of gelato flavors makes the experience worth the (sometimes) long wait. They do a good job with espresso based drinks too. Prices are up there, but so is the experience. The only things against it the extremely limited space and seating inside the store. This is not an issue when the weather outside is good, but not comfortable during extreme heat and winter situations. read more

Weak flavors. I chose plum and also a lemon ricotta cardamom. It tasted like vanilla and um, vanilla.

It took me a while to decide on a rating for my 8 minute visit to this place. Part of me wanted to give them FIVE freakin' stars for the amazing Pineapple Mint flavor - creamy and refreshing @ the same time.. YES! And the Thai Coconut Milk - the real deal..! So based completely off of the flavors, I'd give them a 5*****! Now for the service - we came about 20 minutes before closing. It took the fake-white-haired dude about 5 minutes to get to us, he was busy chatting up some other customers. Fine with me, I was busy drooling over the ice cream cases :p We tried 3 flavors, ended up getting the two I mentioned above. I think tasting the Pineapple Mint was what made the shock go away.. you know.. the shock over the Price to Size Ratio..? Nevermind the shock over the fake white hair.. Anyways.. I noticed the first 2 sizes they had - The smallest small white cup - 2 flavor scoops $5.00 The Medium (Reality Check - this is a regular SMALL) purple cup - 3 Flavor scoops for $8 +. The guy decided he would pick up a Purple cup, give us two scoops and charged us for3! FOR REAL..! And all this, WITHOUT even asking us what size we preferred! My friend paid up and we came outside to sit and eat our gelato - that's when I found out how much he had paid for the little cup.. over $10.00! That's plain WRONG and I felt completely cheated. I could also see the fake-white-hair dude giving us covert looks as we headed out, and now I knew why! I wanted to get up and go give the fake-white-hair-dude an earful, but my friend stopped me .. (one of the reasons why I fail to understand men!) Anyways, it spoiled the fun of my gelato. sigh..! So my end thought for this place.. NEVER again! And hence the rating.. Let me make it clear again.. the flavors themselves are above par.. absolutely loved what I got. But I did not enjoy it.. given my experience. If this business reads the review, my 2 cents - employ people who are honest! read more

I've been to dolcezza for gelato several times in several locations, and while all of their gelatos are of excellent consistency and texture, i've felt that their flavors are a hit-or-miss. Yes, i appreciate that they let you try as many flavors as you want before you make a final decision, but even then, i have trouble finding flavors that i really like from their long list of gelato/sorbet flavors- It's very strange! During my latest visit, we got butter pecan, mascarpone and cherries, and dark chocolate. The butter pecan was a bit too sweet but still enjoyable, the mascarpone and cherries was yummy, and (i thought) the dark chocolate flavor was a bit too bitter and almost had a savory taste. On a less related note, i do really like their gelato pops! read more

Dolcezza - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Bethesda, Maryland

Dolcezza is a five-star triple threat. They have hands down the best coffee outside DC, besides Killer E.S.P. in Old Town Alexandria. The milkshakes are shockingly good, and if you're a coffee lover, I'd highly recommend the 'hairbender' espresso shake. Also, naturally, their gelato rocks. Prices for coffee and gelato are normal ($3-5 range) and the shakes are a tad pricey at $7, but there's a solid three scoops of gelato in there. read more

Chic gelato place in Bethesda Lane. Somehow very appropriate for the location... I rarely indulge in a gelato to begin with, but I ordered a scoop of Blood Orange in a cup and I remember it being very tangy and refreshing. This place prides itself on using local seasonal ingredients... Some reviewers think that this is pricey but I found that their pricing is pretty much in line with most "gourmet" ice creameries too so I wasn't too surprised... read more

Dolcezza - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Bethesda, Maryland

Yummy, yummy gelato. The small is honestly enough because you get two scoops. Switch it up and get two flavors... fun! The chocolate was great and salted caramel was good to try. The shop was on the smaller side. There's a handful of tables along the windows with two seats to each table. There's no designated seating outside specific to the shop. Pricing is on the high end, but worth it. Share a small. It's very rich (left me thirsty) and there's plenty to split between two people. read more

Love love this place! On the pricey side but so worth it! I've been coming here for a few years now and I'm never disappointed! Super cute environment and the staff are always very friendly. Came in on a rainy day (it has been doing that a lot lately) to enjoy some tea and company. Cute place. Friendly staff. Decent sized menu. Coffee, tea, gelato. But since is was pouring out I decided to warm up with some tea. I got the jasmine green tea. It was more jasmine then green tea so I was not really a fan. There was like 5 or so little tables and other people seemed to enjoy their gelato. The people who worked there didn't mind that we took up a table for like 2 hours. So 1 star for hospitality and cuteness but the tea wasn't good so that's all I can give. read more

Maybe there's better somewhere, but certainly not anywhere I've been on the east coast. I'm told by the fine folks working here that it's Argentinian gelato, so it's a bit different. The flavors I've had so far are magnificent. I tried blueberry lemon thyme and it was so good, I went back later in the evening (it was so hot out) and got the same mixed with cantaloupe. The place itself is also really nice. If I could rate it 10 I would, seriously. read more

Yummmmmm. After dinner, we headed to Dolcezza Artisanal Gelato for some dessert. Awesome life decision. There were about a lot of interesting flavors, and I had trouble making a decision. I ordered a small gelato ($5.25), and mixed two flavors- chocolate peanut butter and mint chocolate chip. My friend ordered coconut and chocolate. All of the flavors were delicious. The chocolate peanut butter was my favorite, and mint chocolate chip was my least- it was a little bit different than I expected. A small was definitely sufficient, but they also have larger sizes, where you can mix up to 3 flavors together. The place feels a bit stand-like (like gelato places should), but there are are a few tables in the store, and a cute sitting area in the back with two large white chairs. In addition to gelato, they also sell amazing looking coffee, but I didn't get to try it. I also saw a milkshake on their menu, which intrigues me. I'll definitely be returning many times for more gelato, coffee, and a milkshake! read more

It's on the pricey side (~$5 for a small which is up to 2 flavors) BUT the flavors of the gelato are so authentic, you'd think you were eating an actual cantaloupe except it's cold and creamy and melts in your mouth. The orange honey cardamon was not too sweet & captured the essential citrus taste of the fruit well. plus through august, if you mention 'washingtonian' you get 15% off (yup a whopping $0.60 for a small...but hey it'll cover tax & then some..) read more

Chocolate gelato @ Dolcezza = decadence I'm NOT a gelato fan but I'm so glad I tried this place last year. Love the fact that there are less calories + fat in their gelato (versus ice cream) and it tastes waaaay better than ice cream! Is it too good to be true?!? They are pricey but someone has to help them pay the $$$$$$ rent in such an upscale location, right? It's worth the pretty penny and I love the fact that they are so close to the Bethesda Ave parking garage. The interior is adorable and the service is excellent. Love, love, love this place. read more

They use Stumptown coffee here :) and the baristas are excellent. This is a coffee shop were you should definitely leave a tip. They deserve it. Incredibly smooth, delicious lattes. Their gelato is amazing as well. I love the espresso gelato. I've been here at least 10 times and will keep coming back. Every experience has been excellent. P.s. They use and iPad for checkout and an iPad mini for signatures. So legit. read more

Very popular on Bethesda Row. They have quite a few selections but sadly no sugar free options. I had the small Butter Pecan, it was tasty and a nice relief from the heat for $5.50. There are just a couple of outside tables but not cleaned and it looked liked kids had dumped their gelato there. It's a small place and when you enter you are immediately in front of the cooler. People are not really sure how to queue up and then once you pay, you have to go around the line to get to the register. I imagine it can be quite chaotic when it's busy or they are short staffed. Parking is problematic, however there is a nearby Giant store with a large parking lot. read more

HUGEEEE fan of Dolcezza's gelato. It's so creamy and rich in flavor!! *chef's kiss* There's so many flavors to pick from, including lots of fruity sorbet types, chocolate anything, and all the classics. Cute and pleasant little shop too, the ambiance gets you excited for your little sweet treat. Only sad that the portion sizes are so small. read more

Amazing dark chocolate ice cream, horrifically expensive. It was surprisingly a lot of ice cream for the small cup, though

The staff are cool. I like ordering in Spanish... I swear they're a bit more generous when they're dealing with a fellow Argentino. Dolcezza has a nice selection of flavors; I'm partial to the cinnamon and the mango as well. The store is in a great location, in the recently re-redeveloped part of Bethesda. That said, the gelato is VERY expensive for what you get. The servings are pretty small. I have yet to try the very tempting churros. read more

I have never been to Italy, but I sincerely hope that once I make it there, that the gelato will be as light, flavorful, and fresh as Dolcezza's gelato. I have never been disappointed by Dolcezza. The creative rotating palette of surprising seasonal flavors and tried-and-true classics make for the most pleasant frozen dessert I've experienced. Don't doubt the serving sizes... their gelato is so rich and tangy/rich/potent (depending on the flavor!) that you should be satisfied by the portion, even if it is ~1/4 of the size of dessert that you'd get for a comparable price at, say, Baskin-Robbins or something. I give them the benefit of the doubt when considering their prices ($$$) because they do seem genuinely concerned about the sources of their ingredients, as evidenced by the eager, knowledgeable staff. read more

Came here with a couple of friends on a Sunday evening whom recommended the Gelato and their Caramel Latte. Delicious. Very unique style: from the shovel like spoon in the Gelato to the heart shaped design in the Latte... it certainly made the experience memorable and I cant wait to return. Its a very cute corner shop in Bethesda with a warm ambient . The staff was friendly and certainly very polite. We ended up staying there an hour after they had already closed but not for one second did they ask us to leave or make us feel rushed like it was time to go. Of course we felt terrible after the fact but I found it very customer service like to keep us welcomed. Small place but good for a few friends with a sweet tooth. Check them out for sure. read more

Dolcezza - Gelato & a Delicious Caramel Latte - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Bethesda, Maryland

Came on a Saturday night with a friend to get some dessert and walk around Bethesda. Prices are not cheap! We decided to just split a large, but honestly a large ended up being enough for the two of us. Though not extremely filling, it's thicker than you think and very sweet. We have never been to Dolcezza before so we were trying different flavors. I don't know if our server person was just tired or if he dealt w rude customers or whatnot, but his attitude was not the best. He looked like he could care less about your experience and just looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. With a large, you can get up to three flavors but the guy just sloppily put two in our cup without room for a third, so when we asked for a third he just slapped it on top--but I mean... more for us, I guess? Everything we tried was really good so nothing will disappoint. It's located in such a cute area so come before it gets too cold or else you can't sit outside with the pretty lights! Only docking a star for the customer service. I would dock another for the price but I feel like that's unnecessary. read more

Gelato is good but for two scoops 6$ seems excessive. The cup they give you is so tiny and the gelato looks so unappealing the way they slap it into the cup. It's not two nice round scoops. The cup is way too small that there's gelato all over the cup and dripping along the sides. Not a pleasurable experience getting it all over my hands, clothes. Invest in proper size ice cream cups. I wish I took a picture of the mess I was handed. Also they never have plain chocolate gelato. No, I don't want Vegan chocolate. Who doesn't have chocolate as a staple? read more

Their gelato is some of the best I have had. I regularly go and get a pint to bring home- for about $8, it is significantly larger than getting a single serving (about $6, I think.) The ingredients are quality and it is worth the price. Their flavors regularly change and are all delicious. I especially love their dark chocolate, stracciatella, and seasonal pumpkin. They are very generous in offering samples when requested. The employees have all been very kind and personable. They offer good suggestions of flavors to try and what flavors mix well. They have been patient with me when I have been indecisive about what I wanted. read more

I have been a fan of Dolcezza for a while now and like to get my gelato fix every couple of weeks here. The location is superb, especially when it's a nice weather day and you can sit outside the row. The flavors of gelato at Dolcezza are quite unique! I must say that I prefer the more traditional flavors to the trendier "fusion" and more experimental flavors. The nice thing about this gelateria is that you can ask to sample the flavors you are curious about! The gelato is delicious... Creamy, light... It's great gelato given the fact it's an Argentine establishment and in the US no less... For those of is who can't afford to go to Italy every summer, Dolcezza is a place of wishful thinking.
