I've eaten at dolce at least a half a dozen times over the last several years. My mother more frequently. Last night she invited me for my birthday dinner and as a surprise she contacted Chef Anthony ahead of time and ask him to pair hasting percent plant-based. I've been playing bass for the last year. I can tell you that I was absolutely blown away! It's meal and absolutely outstanding. Anthony put an incredible amount of thought into this, each serving had multiple complementary ingredients and he explained each one as he presented it with every course. This guy really understands the art of plant-based cooking. Most of my tastings were matched for my mothers meal with traditional in for her. Back today for lunch because her lobster tacos were so fantastic. My tacos had a fennel-based protein texture. Because I had no idea what was coming and none of it was written down it was very difficult for me to remember everything that happens when you are as excited about a meal as I was. My broccolini over a hash that included was amazing and his sauces plate. I was absolutely amazed by his pastor found out later he makes it himself about two kilos at a time radiance semolina flour and water. It immediately reminded my mother and I of different trips to Italy. I'm telling you in a beef town, it can be hard to find a great plant-based five course meal. I have been here for dinner for an anniversary. It is a modern, swanky kind of restaurant in a somewhat isolated of NW Omaha, off Maple. Finding it is well worth it. It may not have the notoriety of the Grey Plume or V. Mertz, or other Downtown, Midtown upscale restaurants due to its odd location, but it lives up to that designation. This is definitely a place to dress up for and go on a nice date with your significant other. The interior is nicely laid out with some bar seating. I made the mistake of not making a reservation and ended up sitting at the bar. Every table was accounted for the Friday night that we went. We enjoyed the chef's prix fixe menu for two. It was worth the price of admission and then some. We were impressed by the quality to ingredients and thoughtfulness of the execution of each of the dishes served that night. The service was not too shabby as well. Even though we sat at the bar, our server was nonetheless very attentive to us and made sure we were well taken care of. We were even able to chat with the owner and found him to be warm and very genuine. Made my semi-vegan west coast "I only eat organic and local" sister happy. My family and I went here for my (and my sister's) birthday lunch last Saturday. It was a little awkward to sit 7 people here, the cafe just wasn't designed for larger then 4 people groups. But once we all seated together, I started really enjoying the place. At 2pm on Saturday it was still full with the lunch crowd. Service was fairly prompt for the amount of people, and we were still able to get plenty of drink refills. The bruschetta was a great appetizer, all of us were able to grab a piece, and the mussels were well done, with a pretty unique sweet/savory taste combo from the sausage in the broth. Everyone was a fan of their focaccia, and the side salads were wonderful. Freshest greens I have had in a while, and very well dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. We tried out the dolce meatball panini, goat cheese chicken panini, gourmet cheese burger, gina's veggie burger (guess who ate that one) and the sandwich of the day (a porkbelly and tomato jam panini that was a great flavor combo). The food was all great, plenty of food for everyone and everyone mauled my niece's kids order of mac n'cheese. I would seriously consider just ordering the mac n'cheese next time, it was that wonderful (but then I might feel a tiny bit guilty about eating that much cheese, but I am sure I could get over it). Enjoyed a classy lunch at Dolce. The high end atmosphere took me by surprise - impressive. You would not stand out in your best garb. Lunch menu is not overwhelming in quantity but fancy/different in a good way. There is definitely some artistry happening in the food department. It's not hard to imagine Dolce is the 5 star dinner experience that many reviewers note. The shaved New York strip on brioche is a 5 star sandwich. It's in an area of town that is for the most part baron of this type of establishment so Dolce fills a major void. I was expecting so much more! To be fair, the service was excellent and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. They even made a second dish (no charge) for one of my companions after she took one bite and didn't like her choice. Not something they had to do, but it was so appreciated! The menu is fun, full of great choices, but my food came out... odd. We started with the risotto of the day. Full disclosure, I'm obsessed with risotto, so I was probably going to like anything they gave me. This one was fabulous. I can't remember exactly what it was called, but the mixture of pork, cheese and a splash of truffle oil? I was a goner. Yum. My entree was the Portabella Burger. It was fine, nothing special, but came out just warm and cooled very quickly. Yes, it's a mushroom and they do that, but I was hoping for hot. The brioche bun was yummy though! Speaking of hot. My soup was delish (Potato Porcini), but came to the table at a scalding temperature. That was not a fun experience. We ended the meal with the Brioche Bread Pudding and the Creme Brule. Both were good. I was hoping for more "gooey-ness" with the bread pudding, but I definitely can't complain about what we had. All-in-all, I don't know that I'll return. We hosted a dinner Saturday night for our granddaughter's grad school graduation. I spoke to Christina multiple times about the event. She gave me confidence that she would make the evening special. Reality was quite the opposite. I had asked Christina for recommendations for a local florist since we are from out of town and are not familiar with the area. She said she would pick up flowers since she had to get some for her mother. We arrived at the restaurant and there were no flowers. I asked about them and got no response and no apology. Not one person talked to me to explain the slip up. I had requested pre fixe menus for all guests. They were not on the table. We had to request them. We brought our own wine because they didn't send me the wine list as requested nor did Christina call me to go over final plans as she promised. Service was slow and amateurish. We ordered bread, enough for all. A bowl of 8 rolls for our party of ten was set on the table. We had to ask for plates and butter knives. A stack of 7 plates and 8 butter knives were set on the table, not placed in front of each person. We had to ask several times for our drink order to be taken and then we had to get the drinks from the bar. We had to take our wine to the bar to get it opened and they charged a $25/bottle corkage. Our first course arrived a few at a time. After 2 hours we were still waiting for our main course when we noticed the chef having shots with 2 young ladies at a nearby table. Needless to say we will never go back. The food was ok and the presentation was good, but not good enough to makeup for the terrible service. read more

What an experience tonight's dinner was. The wife and I are expecting our first child in a couple months so we decided to go "all out" as they say and try a local fine dining place. It was very intimate, and the ambiance provided by the talented musician was awesome. The servers were very nice, but unfortunately they seemed short staffed for how incredibly busy they were the day after Valentine's day. However this did not take away from our dining experience at all. We wanted a long intimate dinner and we got it. We both chose the 5 course Chef's tasting menu. The food was incredible. I couldn't even begin to describe each dish as they were so complex and unique but the presentation was great. The chef/owner came out to introduce every dish and he was very nice. There was one or two elements to two of the courses that although interesting, weren't necessarily for our taste. But this is totally expected as everyone has their own pallet. The one and only downfall to this restaurant is the size. Smaller is better for an intimate experience but we feel if the place was a little bigger the tables wouldn't feel quite too close together. So there was this girl I went to high school with who I really didn't know too well but my BFF was friends with her in grade school and she told me this story about this time she went to this girl's house when they were really young, like second grade, and her mom tried explaining to them that sex is "like chocolate." From then on, every time I had Calculus with this girl, I wondered what kind of weird key parties or tantric rituals this girl's mom was into and/or if it rubbed off on her. While I probably wouldn't attempt to explain to an eight year-old the similarities between some delectable chocolate and a hot and sweaty sack session, I will tell you, able-bodied Yelp readers that the caramel macchiato cheesecake they serve for dessert at Dolce rendered me completely physically satisfied and yearning for a long nap and some kind of cigarette. Also, if you go here and do not try the scallops you have denied yourself possibly one of the great pleasures of your life. That sounds dramatic but I'm serious. Everything is exceptional. I'll start with the bottom line, as the top line, and say: Head Chef Anthony Kueper has a menu worth checkin' out - and Dolce is the bomb. Eat there, now! I took my wife and 1-year-old son to Dolce recently for her birthday dinner this year. What the heck have we been missing out on!? I should have been coming here long ago. The ownership has changed hands, and when it comes to the food, it's for the Better (yes, Better with a CAPITAL B, baby!). While I enjoyed myself at the Dolce-of-old, it was never enough to bring me back. I thought it was, frankly, a tad overrated - though I did enjoy a cupcake here and there. The meatballs certainly didn't live up to my Sicilian grandfather's recipe - no one's does - so it isn't totally fair to hold that against her. Gina Sterns ran a tight ship. But I digress, I'll leave the rest of my review to honor the fine group that made my wife's birthday a real pleasure. I had a Living Social certificate good for the chef's 5-course tasting menu. When my beautiful bride found out, she said, "You're using a coupon for my birthday!?" I confidently replied, hoping my manly facade would give me a pass, "You betcha! Didn't you marry me for my prudence, intelligence, and of course - great taste in food? Besides, it's Dolce - I've been hearing great things!" And... It worked! Hope she's not reading this... Anyway, we had a reservation (Open Table made that part easy), and after running almost 10 minutes late, were seated immediately. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir - Angelina, which I must recommend - to enjoy with our dinner, and perused the 5-Course menu (which is separate from the normal dinner menu, so be sure to ask for it if you're interested!) There were two 5-course options. We went the more "traditional" route. The other offering looked really good as well, but chocolate for dessert and duck for an appetizer shifted the balance. My wife opted for the same. The first course came out in the hands of the chef himself. He was friendly, professional, and informed us about the dish - from the flavors involved, to the local sourcing of the ingredients. He also asked about our son. First impression: complete. Result: Wife and I were very impressed. He was running the kitchen, and the room? Wow. I can't say I've experienced that before. This was my son's first opportunity to eat some fine dining food. It was absolutely awesome. He tried, and ate, EVERYTHING. He's always been a great eater. But this experience was just hysterical. After every bite, he clapped. Joyous, happy clapping. Maybe I have a future foodie on my hands, here! He wanted some wine, too - but, sorry, buddy - maybe in 20 years, or so. Every course was balanced in flavor beautifully. Each bite, my eyes met my wife's, and any nearby table could likely hear a harmonious choir of , "Mmmmmm!" The pork loin had a flavor I've never tasted before - just amazing. My wife's favorite course was the scallop. It was perfectly cooked. The dessert featured a peanut butter cup that'd easily put 40 pounds on me if I worked there in any capacity. (Psst - Anthony told me they roast their own peanuts and make the peanut butter in house! Fantastic!) Finally, I grabbed the check. Our son was going to start a melt down at any time (likely because we didn't have any more delicious food to feed him), and so my wife ran him out to the car. Of course I left the diaper bag behind. And the high chair cover. Typical me. We had a missed call and message from the restaurant by the time we got home. I slapped my forehead and my wife said, "You forgot the diaper bag, didn't you?" They were nice enough to hold onto it overnight for us. I stopped in the next day, where the entire troupe from the night before was getting prepped for dinner service. Justifiably, I got a bit of good-humored ribbing. Well, I guess they'll remember me! Thanks for a great night, great food, unbelievable service, and free overnight storage (note: not everyone will be special enough to receive free storage...guess you'll have to leave something to find out!). I was excited to try Dolce tonight for restaurant week and wow it did not disappoint!! The place is small and basic but clean and nice enough. Our server was friendly... Drinks were great!! The food though... Wonderful! Every single dish was plated beautifully... which I appreciate! My friend had the butternut squash soup and she was raving about it. She said slightly spicy. My pork belly had that slight crisp on the outside... melt in your mouth perfection. Best I've ever had. The shrimp and grits were ok but grits were bland. I'd order the wagyu flatiron steak instead, which was excellent. The almond parfait had a good flavor but "interesting" texture... I'd definitely go with the bread pudding for dessert instead.. which was exactly how you want bread pudding to be! I'll definitely be back. Dolce is THE place should you want an intimate, romantic date night. Atmosphere: What incredible ambiance. The decor combined with pleasant music makes it a pleasure to dine here. Come on Wednesday nights if you want to hear live music. Service: The staff are attentive while keeping their distance to allow for time to eat and converse with my companion. Their knowledge of the food is great, yet when they don't know something they will ask the chef for answers. Food: Each dish I have tried is incredible. I rarely say that about a restaurant's food, but it's true. I had the cioppino pasta and it was wonderful. I even liked the cayenne pepper used in it and I don't normally like spicy. The chef knows what he is about and how to make excellent dishes. Bottom line: If you want a place to come for a romantic dinner with your loved one, pick Dolce. You won't regret it. Anniversary Lunch by Clint (1 review) My wife and I had lunch today at Dolce Cafe in celebration of our 36th wedding anniversary. I have to say that it was a wonderful surprise. Everything was freshly made and very well done. We shared one of the soups of the day which was a roasted red pepper. It was creamy and very flavorful. My wife ordered the meatball pannini and I had the cheeseburger. Both were perfectly cooked, well seasoned and very enjoyable. The house made foccacia is amazing! We ended the meal with a chocolate cupcake which was excellent. The cake was moist and flavorful and the butter cream icing was a knock-out. We can't wait to go back for dinner. It is wonderful to see a mom and pop restaurant in west Omaha. What we don't need is another chain restaurant and Dolce Cafe is a true breath of fresh air. read more

My expectations for a company dinner were already high when a co-worker who lives in the south of France was saying how excited he was for dinner at Dolce after our meeting. Really? Really! They met my expectations and then some! We started off with a salad that was perfectly fine... goat cheese, lettuce, dressing, and all that. Great start! Then we had the halibut that was just amazing. As someone who doesn't eat meat, but does eat fish, I eat a lot of it and this was definitely exceptional. The fish is pistachio crusted and cooked in a wine sauce. I think the icing on the cake, so to speak, is the blackberry gastrique, which adds just a touch of sweet to the savory. I'm writing this and wishing I had more. Carrots came with the fish. Usually they are either too hard or too soft, but these were just right with a hint of sweetness. Needless to say, I cleaned my plate! I finished off my meal with the caramel macchiato cheesecake, which was also excellent. I can usually stop after a forkful or two of cheesecake, but not with this version. It was that good. My colleagues raved about the cupcakes and the carrot cake, but if I were to go back, there's no question, I'd get the cheesecake again! What can I say? I love a restaurant in an unassuming strip mall. My girlfriend and I came here to belatedly celebrate her birthday and I was very pleasantly surprised by just how excellent the food and service was at Dolce. Their 'date night' menu, consisting of a four (!) course prix fixe meal, is an absolute bargain for both the quality and quantity of deliciousness. We split a starter of homemade spinach ravioli swimming in a broth so tasty I could have consumed the remainder of it through a straw. Our salads were also excellent. Mine came with crispy pork belly, a generous portion of fresh greens, perfectly pickled pairs and flavorful sauces perfect for dipping my pork. Our friendly and attentive server, Tim, was also exceptional. He kindly explained to us that we could substitute an entree off the main menu for any prix fixe options for a small upcharge, which I gladly did for the perfectly cooked medium-rare duck breast and mushroom risotto. It was phenomenal and only cost me $2 extra. The only underwhelming part of our meal was the dessert; a chocolate mousse that wasn't quite as smooth as I wanted it to be. But the flavors were still very nice and truthfully we were so pleased with the rest of our meal and the great service that it didn't really matter. Would definitely come back here and would encourage those hipsters in midtown and Benson looking for an upscale, fine dining experience to make the trip out to West O. Our first meal at Dolce has been more than we expected. The risotto was a wonderful beginning, the mushroom soup was excellent and our entrées? Our entrées were perfect. That is not overstatement, the entrées were perfect. I had chicken and goat cheese Panini stacked with mild red peppers and spinach...my lunch partner ordered the chicken and polenta. Neither of us could think of a single thing we would've changed. Dessert? He had an apple pastry/Galette that was superb and I ordered the chocolate mint ice cream. Now let me explain something: this was no average ice cream! It was house-made with no artificial green coloring. This was the real thing and the mint was lovely and authentic and perfect. Although we had never stopped at Dolce before, I promise you that will not be the case in the future. Try them out soon, I plan to be back myself! read more

I've popped in for lunch 4 or 5 times and dinner now three times. Every meal has been wonderful!!! The first time dear husband went with me, we opted for the 5 course chef's dinner. It amazed! Today I stopped in with a friend for lunch. I opted to start with the soup, and after our great waitress described how the chef made it without cream or broth (and to order!)We had to try it. It was the most favorable, rich (in a great way) and creamy potato soup I have had. Served on top were a few crisp fried cross-cut purple potatoes and one beet, which as you dug into your soup created an artful colorful swirl. Whether intended or not, the detail was fun. Since it was a cold comfort food kind of day I opted for the American Kobe Ragu. I fell silent upon the first bite. It was THAT good. It paired wonderfully with a light Pinot which cut down a bit on the richness. There was enough I'm looking forward to my lunch tomorrow if my husband does't beat me to it!!! My friend had never been and was thrilled as well, and can't wait to take her husband and partake in "Date Night". My husband and I are heading back soon for the "duck dinner" that chef spoke to us about on an earlier visit. Call ahead several days and he will ready a whole roasted duck, all the accouterments you could imagine and the price is unbeatable! Their wines are affordable, the service has always been great and for the life of me I can't figure out why this place isn't busier for lunch. We celebrated our anniversary by going out for dinner. We had never been here before and had a Groupon. We walked in to a very tastefully decorated restaurant with linen tablecloths and candles. Live guitar music quietly playing and very attentive waitstaff. We weren't sure what wine to order and our waitress Chloe, who happened to be fairly knowledgeable, helped us navigate the wine list. We ordered the margarita mussels and they were delicious. I ordered the warm goat cheese beet salad, plentiful and quite delicious. My husband ordered the lamb chops, wonderfully tender, seasoned well with figs, carrots and other vegetables with a beautiful sauce. We had one of our best meals in Omaha here last Friday night. We enjoyed the "date night" menu which you can sub out certain items for a small charge to cover the price difference. Started with the charcuterie and cheese board which was delicious (they make all the meat in-house). Second course was a fantastic pork belly salad for my husband and a sumptuous cauliflower soup for me. This place just didn't do anything for me. While the company of my two beautiful lady friends was outstanding, the food was not. I ordered the "gourmet" cheeseburger - I don't know what was supposed to make it gourmet but it was just average and the small salad that came with it was a joke. One person ordered the corn chowder and it needed seasoning in the worst way. Both ladies ordered paninis - I can only remember one and it was chicken and goat cheese. Had dinner at Dolce tonight with three pharmacist friends. The food was absolutely great. I had the 10oz New York strip with sauce bernaise and my friends had the salmon, the Marsala chicken, and the vegetarian salad. Two bottles of wine were shared, and it was outstanding. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a great sear. The fat was rendered and the plate was cleaned! Some reviews mention the prices, but they are reasonable and competitive, especially with the food being locally sourced from natural and organic farms. Went to this restaurant on a recent trip to omaha and i am soooooooo glad to have found this little gem of a restaurant! My friend and I had purchased the prefix dinner from groupon and it was a steal but even the regular price would have been worth it! The chef knows what he is doing in the kitchen. .. highlights of the night were the potatoes and mushroom puree soup ... the lamb that was braised for hours it was tender and juicy and flavorful (not gamey at all) ... the best entree was the kobe beef sirloin ... it was the best piece of steak i had tasted in a long time!! We stumbled upon this place through OpenTable, and the short and dolce of it is, this is a GREAT find. The staff is very attentive and creative (a member of our party asked for a mocktail, and our server came up with a delicious concoction). The food is tasty and fresh...from a pork chop, to duck, to the nightly creme brulee (which was kahlua when we dined). Overall a great, intimate experience. My wife and I had a rare date night opportunity tonight and decided to try this place out. We went early arriving right after they opened at 5:00. When we asked to be seated, in the empty dining room (I saw one occupied table) we were told they were reservation only. We looked around the empty room and asked if there was a way for us to be seated, and was told without a reservation we could only be "squeezed in" at the bar. Not the date night we had hoped for so we left. In the parking lot I pulled up their website, that I had been on earlier in the day and mentioned nothing about being reservation only, and went to the reservation tab. Right then and there I could have booked a table for 2 at 5:15. So they did have availability, and just didn't make bother to look. So, I guess if you want to eat here make a reservation first. Even if the place is empty they won't seat you. Feels to me like they went to be a "reservation only" type place. Kind of sucks as we won't go back and this place is blocks away from our new house and the menu did look good. read more

Dolce does very nice job of serving local farm to table style food. I've been here multiple times during lunch as well as dinner.Dinner are bit expensive but it's definitely worth trying. Some of their fresh Bakery items are very delicious. read more
