    Italian delightful treats

I am Italian and traveled to Italian, and have tried the efforts of other Italian establishments in San Diego County. I want to congratulate Dolce Aroma for taking a big step in opening this treasure. For those who think the bakery goods are too small, one has not traveled to Italy or any other country in Europe. The US is the only country that sells oversized cheaply made bakery goods. Trying to impress with being big. Hmmmm. Frozen and tasteless. Yes, Dolce Aroma cost a little bit more, but these ingredients are high quality, plus they are from Italy. When was the last time you looked a the cost of a flight to Italy? TEN STARS for the Cornetto! One can tell this flour is not from the USA, it is so pure and the Cornetto was flaky, and not too much butter, just perfectO! The prosciutto was high quality, not salty, perfect, fresh mozzarella cheese made the sandwich a perfect mixture of mouth watering flavors. Wonderful customer service, helpful to those who adventure out in trying something new. Big Italian smiles. Nice to speak Italian with them Can't wait to tell Ma!

    So tasty!

These desserts are amazing!! Every one that I've had is so tasty!! The owners Salvo and Letizia are wonderful. They're actually from Italy - so they obviously know what they're doing.

    Cassata cake

I'd never heard of a cassata cake when my daughter asked for one for her birthday. Letizia to the rescue. Not only was she able to pull together a beautiful customized cake at the last minute, but her pricing was fair and the quality was outstanding. (Even the cake box was cute!) I'm so glad we found this bakery- we will definitely recommend to others and return again!

I was looking for a birthday cake and wanted something special. I wish I had known about this gem earlier! I ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Praline cake, which was delicious and not too sweet. The texture was also nice, dense rather than overly fluffy. I would highly recommend.

This review is for the delivery guy who I saw unloading and delivering boxed desserts to local restaurants in the Little Italy area. I wasn't spying; (staring, but not spying) but while I was in the car waiting for someone I couldn't help but notice the DolceItalia van and how carefully the delivery man was handling the boxes of cold desserts. He took them out and gently placed them on the dolly thing. One after the other. I could see the interior was a fridge setting to keep the desserts cool. Anyway, I just wanted to say it's nice to see a company's employees doing such a great job and caring about what they are doing, and the goods they are delivering. That speaks volumes for that persons character and integrity, as well as the quality of the business. I've seen some other business employees just slam down and throw around boxes, which typically ruins or cracks the contents.

    Delicious cake

Ordered a cake for my wife's birthday and will be ordering from them again. The cake was moist, delicious and full of flavor!! Even the picky eaters in the house were impressed and wanting more. We definitely recommend trying this place anytime you need a special treat.

Although the storefront bakery closed, Sal (owner/baker) continues to make delicious deserts via phone or online orders!!! I didn't know this before stumbling onto Dolce Italia's office/kitchen located in an industrial plaza. Came in 30 minutes prior to closing time & the lights looked dimmed so I rang the doorbell. Sal showed up and made me cannoli on the spot! Now that's going above & beyond! He took time to answer my many questions. Best of all, the cannoli had a crispy, not-too-thick pastry & the cream was top notch (none of that cheap stuff)! So much better than the Cake Boss pastries in Vegas! So call in your order and check out the menu pics when u pick up. Sal said to put in orders early especially around the holidays.

The cashier let me know that the apple fritters I was looking at were fresh out of the oven and still warm, so I had to try those and they were the best apple fritters I've ever had! (Fresh is always better, of course). But we also tried their blueberry cake donuts, maple bars, glazed old fashions, and a few others and all were very soft, luscious, and just a perfect version of that type of donut. I have high standards for baked goods and it only took touching one of their classic sugar covered donuts and feeling just how pillowy soft it was to know they have an amazing rise and fantastic quality. I will be returning here from now on for all my donuts!! The shop is cute inside too. They have small tables for eating your purchase afterwards and offer coffee and tea. It doesn't feel like you're in the way here and the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. No critiques whatsoever!

Cruffins - fun to look at and fun to eat; can't go wrong with any of them! Cookies - white chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate chip, gluten-less chocolate cookies ... now these are cookies! The pastries are definitely on the higher-priced side and we weren't too hungry, so we opted for the strawberry croissant since it was the last one left. I was hoping to try their cinnamon roll, as it looked amazing and had a selection of flavors to pick from. The lady who helped us was friendly and packed the croissant for me, and we took it to go. The strawberry croissant had some vanilla cream along with strawberry slices in the center cut of the croissant. The cream was nice, light, and not overly sweet, which tasted great with the strawberry. The croissant was a little disappointing, as it wasn't flaky, very dense, and on the softer side. It still had a good buttery flavor but overall it was mid. As we continued eating, I ended up chewing on something plasticky, and I believe it might have been the front cut of a plastic piping bag. I'm glad it was a fairly small piece or else I probably would have swallowed it...It is disappointing that a big piece of plastic ended up in the cream where no one had caught it during the process of making it.
