We ordered from custom cakes for a family member's 50th and overall no regrets! I'll start with the good: The cake looked amazing. Visually, it was exactly what we wanted, it was impressive, professional, awesome. We were so happy with it. The cake was half chocolate and half vanilla (one layer of each separated by frosting) and the chocolate layer got rave reviews. The vanilla however confused many guests, several commented that it tasted dry and crumbly and a little strange. We also had some issues with the initial deposit, we ended up paying it twice and I had to file a chargeback for the other deposit. The cakemaker had us nervous because communications got slightly unprofessional for a bit as we were inquiring about the charge and trying to avoid paying twice. Overall she came through though and while $200 is steep for a sheet cake, it was memorable and worth it (and I eventually was reimbursed by the cc company for the double charge). read more

Unfortunately my experience was not as great as i was hoping for. I did 2 orders - 1st trial, second for baby cake smash photoshoot. 1st was carrot cake - it was ok, not wow! I managed to bring it home safe although when i arrived it was not ready! 2nd was simple vanilla - i asked particularly NO SUGAR as it was for 1 year old baby to eat. She said ok. On the day of the pick up, cake was not ready, i had to wait. When i tried the icing, it was super sweet, i asked why??? If i asked particularly for NOT SWEET, she said she doesn't change the recipe! Sorry??? What??? Why didn't you tell me that when i placed an order in the first place??? It's unfortunate that I have to write this review as I've tried to contact Nayeli multiple times without any response. We've used Nayeli a few times for our kids birthday parties without any issues. This last time we used her, the cupcakes tasted "different." We were so excited bc they looked great. When we bit into them, the cake portion was chewy, and the frosting was sour as if it had gone bad. 3 or 4 of the guests at the party felt the same way. We brought the rest of the cupcakes home after the party, and continued to examine the cupcakes and it seems that the frosting had gone bad. Many of the cupcakes had "curded" frosting on the cupcakes. I'm not sure how long ago the cupcakes were made, or if she had made the frosting fresh or not, but they were horrible. I sent Nayeli a nice text letting her know what seemed to have happened. The fact that I paid close to $100 for baked goods, and have supported her business 4 times now, and she couldn't even reply back to my text really disappoints me. Time to find another baker. I've attached a picture of my text messages to her without any response. I'm just very disappointed with the whole situation. read more
