Nice store located near Lake San Marcos. Parking is adequate. The store is clean, nice, decorated as expected. The staff is friendly. I got to try a Macaron making class and it was a fun experience. It was supposed to take 2.5 - 3 hours. The other party was late so we started about 10 minutes late and we went way over 3 hours. The class is very hands on. You get detailed instructions, and a template for the Macaron shapes. The instructor is the owner, and she is Cordon Bleu trained and loves making Macarons and Chocolate. She will tell you all about her schooling, background, experiences, and the history of the Macaron. The instructor will walk you through the process step by step, explaining why you have to be precise and follow each step completely and in order if you want to get good results. She also explains how you may need to add a little extra of an ingredient based on the humidity, the science behind it, etc. You make the Macaron shells and you also make Italian butter cream filling to put in the Macaron. This small shop is tucked in the back of a strip mall across from the Amalfi restaurant and the Lakehouse Hotel, so it's a bit hard to find - but worth it! They have a good selection of fancy high quality chocolate treats and other delicious things like creme brulee and fruit tart. And for the fall they have pumpkin cheesecake which is super yummy. They have limited seating inside and a nice shaded seating area outside. The people working there are very pleasant and helpful. D'liteful Chocolat has the absolute best cakes and chocolates. Im not saying it lightly, but I'm gluten intolerant and today I bought a Chocolate Ganache Cheesecake that was absolutely fantastic. The cake was not overly sweet, the crust was so good, that alone was worth it. This cheesecake wasn't anything I had before and no-one would ever guess that it was gluten free. I'm absolutely going back for any of there other delicious offerings. One more thing, the staff was very helpful and polite. I really llke the atmosphere of that place. Located across the resort located in the Lake San Marcos, this little patisserie chocolaterie/gift shop was a total surprise and the perfect meeting point with a friend who happens to live near the lake and that I have not seen for 8 years. Delightful indeed. This beautiful boutique has a variety of luxurious truffles and decadent pastries to choose from. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner as she is a fellow member of The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce with me. She has studied pastry extensively thru Le Cordon Bleu so she is an expert at her craft. My favorite truffles are the dark chocolate cassis which has rich and creamy ganache inside and the mango ginger habanero. The spicy habanero kick at the end is a nice little surprise! I've heard of this place about few years ago in Groupon then one of my friends mentioned that she attended their chocolate making workshop and was impressed with their product. A couple of months ago, the business was featured in the local news and I learned that they have a brick and mortar store in Lake San Marcos. I thought this was my opportunity to check it out as it's not that far from where I work. Today, my friends and I were able to visit not knowing that they close at 3pm. We dashed from the Leo Carrillo Park to go over there and arrived at 2:52pm. It's a small place but their customer service was great. We weren't rushed to order as it was our first time. My daughter was debating between a brownie or chocolate mousse so we ordered the 2nd item. I ordered the Hazelnut Chocolate Tart. We even asked for cups of water and they obliged. A friend of mine wanted a Berry Tart and one of the staff was able to prepare it right away as there were no available ones in the case. We got home and all of us ate our goodies and let me tell you, they are amazingly delicious! Not too sweet and no after taste in their mousses. Will be back to try their products. What a hidden local treasure! I've been wanting to come by this shop for awhile and finally stopped in for a evening wine tasting/chocolate pairing Estate Planning course. It was such a fun evening. We tasted 5 different chocolates and each were not only delicious, but beautiful. The shop also hosts cooking/baking classes and afternoon high tea. This review is specifically for the "tea" this establishment offers. It is awful. If you've ever had a proper tea in England, you will be sorely disappointed with this version. I write this to spare anyone from the total disappointment my mom and I experienced on Mother's Day. First and foremost, the tea was not hot. We requested that it be remade with hot water, but they never were able to bring us anything but warm tea. It was very hard to drink. So toward the end of the tea, I asked for coffee, hoping maybe they could make a good cup of coffee to accompany the desserts. However, the owner totally forgot about my request and never brought it out. We ended up taking most of the desserts home, and most of the dry scone, and I sadly ended up tossing them after a couple disappointing bites. They also misrepresented the offerings in the event description, claiming to serve Devonshire cream. Devonshire cream is a clotted cream made in Devon, which my mom and I adore, but the owner said she made her own version. Sadly it lacked the tartness of a true Devonshire cream and tasted more like whipped cream. There was no ambiance. Some of the tables had flowers, but ours did not. It was $97 very poorly spent. If anyone reads this and knows a good place for a proper tea, kindly message me. read more

In terms of a business, it seems very well run. Clean, cute, and great customer service (the lady working gave us an extra macaron because one of the ones in our box was a bit small). However, in terms of macarons, definitely not my favorite. Now, disclaimer, I've recently been to Paris and I'm not sure anything here could quite compare to what I had there. In terms of build and texture, the macs were very well done--nice soft cookie that wasn't hollow or cracked. My issue lies in the filling, which was buttercream and way too sweet for me (especially the fruit flavors). This may be fine for some people, but it was a big let down for me. Sometimes the flavor was a bit hard to get out over the sweet. Just wanted to give an insight in case anyone else had similar expectations. Didn't try any chocolate, so I can't speak to that, but it looked delicious. Overall, the place seems great, just not what I was looking for. Would give 3.5 stars if possible. read more

I stumbled across D'liteful Chocolat when looking for macarons. I had bought some from Le Parfait Paris in Liberty Station to sample and see if I'd like them for my wedding. They weren't very good. The filling was similar to a gelatin chew (think cactus candy or Turkish delight consistency). I shopped around in North County as I'm a little partial to supporting North County businesses. (I can't really recall, exactly, how I found this place. It was 3 weeks before my wedding and my mind was in so many places.) I decided to stop into D'liteful Chocolat and buy samples. So glad that I did! I communicated with the owner, Dayleen, for both available and special flavors. I ordered pistachio, blueberry, mango, orange, and coconut and discussed colors that would go with the wedding theme. Mango and coconut were special flavors and I wasn't able to try them beforehand. The wedding guests loved them all! We decided pretty late in the planning process to have a dessert table. Dayleen was very responsive and helpful. Ordering was a easy peasy. I appreciated that with so many things going on. Aside from macarons, I've also purchased chocolates. They are dangerously delicious. There are still many more things to try!
