Absolutely horrible service! We ask for a table and according to the server an hour before closing She was unable to accommodate us! She was rude told my daughter no when she ask for a table. We waited outside and she came out to tell us what the waitress said we were confused so my husband went in to ask how long it would take or could we put our name in for a table of five. She was told him no they were closing in an hour!! It's a Friday at 7pm get over yourself it's not 7:45 and asking for a party of 20! I was a waitress and we never refused a table till closing time Which was on the hour of closing! If someone came in at 7:45 we wouldn't treat them like dirt like this lady did to us! Who would have thought sushi in Murphys... It's amazing!! Sushi is what my mom wanted for her birthday dinner so we grabbed a menu and ordered take out. Our first call we were put on hold for close to five minutes (not a good start) after hanging up we got a call back about 5 or so minutes later and were able to place our order. Picking everything up was quick and the place was busy! We ordered the Big Trees, Newsome Harlow and the San Francisco. The San Francisco was good though no were close to how amazing the other two rolls were!! Bacon in sushi - I'm sold! I completely second what the first reviewer said! My husband and I just read about this new restaurant in a local paper this afternoon and decided to give it a try. What a great decision! We were very lucky to get in as it is a small, intimate setting that was already pretty packed. We will definitely be making reservations next time! We ordered the Big Trees and Calaveras rolls, the BBQ beef skewers, plus Udon noodles in broth and everything was delicious with fresh, perfectly prepared ingredients! I have eaten sushi in the Bay Area, Southern California, the Wine Country and Doke Sushi in Murphy's is equally equally delicious as any I've had. It's small, we always make reservations, good with young kids, very friendly service and of course, always fresh. I personally like the unfiltered sake, but there's lots of wine tasting in Murphy's and local wines are welcome with no corkage fee. Enjoy and drive safe! read more

Any sushi ordered is great (we've been a time or two), but our favorite is the Spicy Scallop Hand Roll, Chef's Special, and the Ramen. Extremely good! My husband and I had a date lunch here recently. We usually go to The Alchemy (also a great spot), but wanted sushi today. Loved it! The Firecracker roll and Spider Roll were both delicious. Usually with Spider Roll, restaurants fry the crab with Panko. This one was battered which I loved. Crispy and tasty. We ordered Salmon Nigiri and the fish was fresh (ate on a Friday). I live here locally and doke is one of my go to food options! The staff is consistently so friendly and the food is always outstanding. For how far away murphys is from any coast line, the fish is always so fresh and flavorful! I love how much variety their menu options offer and that even when I order my food "to go" I get the same amazing taste and experience. Omg this place was so good. Our watress(lela) was a firecracker and she tasted so good, oops sorry im talking about the sushi. The guy making the sushi is a hipster white guy so I was nervous about eating asian food not made by one of them, but it was so good. Got a recommendation from the wine server at Stevenot tasting room. Reservation advised so we popped in at 5 and reserved for 6:15. When we showed up the place was about full. We sat at the counter in front of the chef. We could not see him make the sushi until he lifted them up for the servers. Wow! They were very impressive. We ordered hot sake and a large Kirin. The sake was only tepid, but we did not ask to heat it more. We had the gyoza appetizer. Very nice. Then we ordered two special maki. Chef's Special and Spider Roll. Super! The server said they were not their popular ones, but they'll have us coming back! $65 including a 20%+ tip. Not bad. read more

First off I want to give a shout out to Jimmy and the wonderful people over at doke sushi. Their humble hospitality made my experience very enjoyable. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with smiles and good vibes. Me and my friends sat at the bar and jimmy (head sushi chef) was very helpful in our menu decisions. I ordered two fresh oysters that were garnished with lemons and sriracha. DELICIOUS. Then followed it up by a small plate of salmon sashimi. SOO BUTTERY. And ended my meal with the chicken yakiniku (came with rice and a salad). TENDER. To top it off, they were very generous with the hot saki :) The food was amazing but it was the hospitality that sold the place. It was my first time there but i felt like a regular sittin at the bar. We made small talk like we were old pals. I couldn't ask for a better ambiance/ environment. So happy we overheard a winemaker making a reservation for his birthday. We asked him where he made a reservation and he told us all about Doke Sushi. We promptly called and was able to get a reservation for 3 within the hour. So happy to have found this gem in our neck of the woods! The food was Fantastic! The service was great! Ok - we went back twice in 24 hours to validate our opinion - this is one of the best sushi joints I've been to, ever. I travel all over - LA, NY, etc. Sushi is my preferred meal. I live in SF. They've been here for just over a year and we haven't known about it since living up here in the foothills for more than two years, moving from Palo Alto. It's pretty far from the Ocean but this is actually the best sushi place I've ever eaten! The interior is not very fancy and the bright lights made us almost go to a different restaurant, but I'm so glad we didn't! The food is so tasteful and is very creative. The calavares were the best. I was pleased they were accommodating to seating us without reservations. On some level, I wish that we hadn't gotten in. Obviously, we weren't expecting fresh crab in the california rolls (it was not) but we did expect the tempura to be hot, the hot sake tasted "off". When we couldn't drink it, we were told that it had an almond flavor...yuck. The bento box had the tepid tempura, the sesame chicken was made of dehydrated chicken... Double yuck! The young lady with the tatted sleeves was cool and very attentive!! Kudos to her. Stick with the bbq chicken, that was real. The salad was good. Will not return! read more

This is a very small, quaint restaurant so I'd suggest making reservations beforehand (we did and were seated right away). The sushi was good- my husband had a roll that was suggested for eel lovers and another baked/smoked one (sorry I can't remember the names of his). He thought they were better than sushi at both the spots in Sonora. I had a San Francisco roll (tempura shrimp--it was ok) and the Murphy's roll (loved it!). Service was great, very attentive waitress... Food was pretty good (in my opinion) and awesome (in my husbands). read more
