We've been here twice while visiting Murphys CA, and appreciate it's one of the few restaurants with multiple vegetarian options. We've done both take out as will as dine in and have good experiences both times, although they definitely seem to do a larger volume of takeout orders. The inside dining has not been busy either time we were there, even on a holiday weekend. It could have to do with the fact it's not directly on the mainstreet, but it is a quick drive. The inside space would be good for groups as well and also kids. The menu is a mix of chinese and vietnamese cuisine, with some added outlier beverages like boba tea and smoothies. There are vegetarian appetizers as well as entrees. The prices are reasonable for the portion size. We tried the tofu spring rolls to start, and for our entrees we had the Tofu Pho and Szechuan Vegetables. The spring roles were tasty and came with a delicious peanut sauce. The entrees came out piping hot, and they gave us the standard add ons for Pho and had sriracha, hoisin, soy sauce and chili oil to add as well. The Szechuan vegetables had a good portion and came with white rice. Lots of broccoli, snow peas, zucchini and onions. The staff is very friendly and also funny, definitely one of the things we like about coming here. A great option in Murphys and we'd happily come back in the future. read more

We tried the potstickers (5/5) and egg rolls (4/5) and they both came out golden brown and crispy. Other reviewers, perhaps having failed to learn about how condensation works in science class, gave these menu items a bad report. Eat in and enjoy them hot and crispy! Service was fast and they hustled to bring my wife's vegetable chow mein (4/5) and my massive plate of combination fried rice (5/5). I had enough left over for another full meal. The food was good. Ambiance not very inviting, but we were happy to come across an Asian place in Murphy's when traveling . The summer rolls were tasty but the presentation was sloppy! We ordered fried rice with egg, Kung Pao Tofu and Curry Tofu. In both the dishes the tofu was deep fried, although tofu consistency tasted better in Curry Tofu. We did find that the Curry Tofu had a lot of curry powder in the dish. Kung Pao tofu was a bit salty maybe too much soy sauce? Overall good enough Asian meal on our trip! read more

***USP: Wouldn't call it a fusion restaurant but they have a large menu covering items from Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines. ***AMBIANCE: Bare bones ambiance, a partly open kitchen at the entrance. Lot of take out containers, plastic cutlery stashed on a table at the entrance which opens up to a fairly decent sized dining room. ***FOOD: Most of the food was middle of the road. The Great Gal is away and I didn't want to cook tonight, so ordered Take Out tonight from the Asian Cafe. I'm by myself and Holy Toledo, the size of a mixed chow mein and toasted wontons would feed four people and I basically spent $21. And more importantly, I enjoyed the chow mein big time. The won tons were a bit oily so I held my rating at a Four. The young man serving was polite and cordial, but I did not catch his name. My first time ordering here -- Kung Pao Tofu with rice. My first bite: hard and crunchy. I spit out the food and there was a small pebble. I went in the bathroom and checked to make sure I didn't break a filling. Ate more of the food: another pebble, this time chipped my front tooth on rice and tofu. Clearly, someone did NOT rinse the rice. The flavor of the food was good but I can't risk my teeth on rocks someone didn't want to rinse out. I ate carefully and didn't find anymore. The next morning? I had the runs. Whatever they are doing at Asian Cafe, I don't trust it enough to go back. We are just visiting and love vietnamese food. They were closed on Sunday so we waited until Tuesday when they were open. It is a very cute, standalone building with a patio in front as well as in a courtyard. It wasn't busy to so we were seated quickly. They had weekday lunch specials at great prices, which included reduced prices for Pho, so I got the chicken Pho. Generous portion, good broth. Went for dinner on the weekend and the place was pretty empty. I think most people do take out. We enjoyed everything we ate except the hot and sour soup (we accidentally got a bowl and that was huge!). Both the hunan seafood dish and the honey garlic shrimp were very flavorful and filling. I would like to go back to try other dishes but I think next time I'll just do take out. The ambient inside felt lonely and the dinning area has a strange smell. read more

Conveniently located right along Highway 4 as you're heading through Murphys, the Asian Cafe was a wonderful way to end our day in the area. Having hiked all day, it was time for an early dinner. There is a private lot and the building looks unassuming from the road. Upon entering, we were greeted right away and got to choose a table. There was a gentleman serving the whole dining area and dealing with take out orders. He was incredibly nice and efficient, Got the veggie egg rolls and Kung pao tofu with veggies. Nicely flavored, not too greasy and generous portions that allowed for leftovers. Really good food and pleasant dining experience. The spacious seating area was rustic but clean. Real review, not sure why there are so many good reviews. Let me start by saying I do not like leaving bad reviews, but I wanted to tell people that were walking in as I was eating to not eat here. We sat outside because we had our dogs so not expecting super clean tables but there was this black goo I couldn't quite clean. Utensils came out almost all of them dirty. Taro boba tea absolutely terrible taste like plastic. Fried mushrooms ok fried meatballs weird but eh. Pho came out the meat looked and tasted super cheap like not enjoyable at all. Broth was not flavorful just really salty. I don't like spending money on bad food, all 3 of us left extremely disappointed. Also almost forgot, the hoisin sauce container was rancid made me want to call health inspector. read more

Fusion style Vietnamese and Chinese food . Each dish from the various countries they represented tasted better than the countries from where they originated. My shrimp in lobster sauce was delicious and spared me the gooey consistency found in many, if not most, Chinese restaurants. My wife had chicken fried rice and our friends had sesame chicken, egg fried rice and Kung Pao shrimp. We all shared and everyone got into the car fully stuffed and we had leftovers to take home. We stop here for lunch after a walk into Murphys. The location is located along the highway with parking. Both of us had the Beef PHO soup, the broth was excellent and provided tasty flavor with lot'sa meat. There is indoor / outdoor seatings and the friendly staff provided good service. They have a very good menu to select from. read more

Given some of the reviews of this place, I came with high expectations. First of all, service was excellent and the person who served us was very nice and friendly. We started with the Combo Appetizer. It was served hot and fresh right out of the fryer. But the dish was hit and miss. The wontons had no meat in them, and I have never been a fan of crab Rangoon. It's filled with cheese and not even close to authentic Chinese. The highlights of the combo were the egg rolls and the pot stickers, those were really good. Then we had the almond chicken with rice, and the Singapore noodles. Both of them were really good. The almonds were still crunchy, and we both liked the water chestnuts. The noodles were had just the right amount of curry in them. Just enough to taste, but not too spicy to detract from the flavor of other things in there. The only ding was that they charged us a dollar more for the combo appetizer than was stated in the menu. I adjusted accordingly on the tip. read more

This was our first time at the restaurant. We went there because of the yelp review and wanted to check it out. Pleasantly surprised. The food was great! We ordered Singapore rice noodles, Szechuan vegetables, and Orange chicken. I wasn't sure how spicy the noodles and vegetables were going to be so we ordered mild. I don't like too much spice, but next time I will probably go medium on the spice. The noodles were great and love the sauce on the vegetables. I thought the chicken was breaded a little too much and the sauce was more sweet than I was used to. That dish was OK. They don't have air conditioning, but they do have a floor fan that moves around. They also have outdoor seating. Cute, little pho place close to the resort my family and I was staying at. Cooking took a little bit of time, but the food was pretty decent. Really enjoyed my order of spicy seafood udon - really tasty and flavorful (although big warning: it's pretty spicy, haha). Also ordered two different phos, meatball and seafood. Both seemed to have more noodles than broth which was disappointing. And it was also served with lemon slices instead of limes - something not common with pho soup. Mongolian beef was fine, but wouldn't recommend the boba (bubble tea) drinks unless you were desperate for some. The red bean and mango flavors were good, but the tapioca balls weren't cooked thoroughly, normally chewy, and didn't fit through the straw, lol - which defeats the purpose. Recommendation for them would be to put some kind of cardboard at the bottom of the takeout bag to stabilize everything inside; it's a little worrisome to try and balance everything in the bag, especially soup. I highly recommend that you try the Asian Cafe not only is the staff very very friendly. The food is really really good. I had the beef pho soup! It's the best pho soup I've ever had!
