Do NOT Trust Doggie District Mesa With Your Pets We picked up our dog yesterday in terrible shape--covered in feces, swollen, and lethargic. She is now at the vet receiving care for what appears to be heat-related illness. Doggie District has offered to refund the last three days and cover the vet bill, but no amount of money is worth what our dog went through. Their policy is to keep dogs outside for at least an hour at a time, no matter how hot it is. This is Arizona--no dog should be left in the sun for that long. What's worse, the staff don't even seem to recognize the signs of heat distress. That is not just poor care--it's animal cruelty and neglect. We've been taking our dogs here for 5 years, but something has changed in the past year. The turnover of employees is high, and the level of care has gone way down. When I called about my dog's condition, they didn't even sound concerned. If you love your pets, do not take them to Doggie District Mesa. What they are doing makes no sense, and it's dangerous. I started taking my 2 pups Milo and Ares. I started bringing my pups to Doggie District and let me tell you they are amazing! My pup Milo got abused at his old daycare and had since been fearful of daycare and males. Doggie district understood what Milo had been through and they have been amazing to work with. Milo always comes home happy and exhausted and no longer fearful of men. I highly recommend Doggie District. They do fun activities with the dogs weekly. My dog was bitten in the neck by another dog in this facility while at daycare. It is so heartbreaking to know that, when I had a long day at work, the people that I trusted her with put her in harms way. While I do appreciate that the staff communicated with me and took care to clean out the wound, I won't continue to bring my dog somewhere that doesn't value the safety of the animals above all else. I was told that the dog that bit her had done it before, so my opinion is that dog shouldn't have been allowed around other people's animals, especially without their knowledge and consent. I didn't know that by bringing my dog here I was placing her with animals that are reactive and aggressive; I had hoped I was bringing her somewhere that she would be safe. The Doggy District has been amazing for my dog. He is a small chihuahua mix and fits in great with "The Littles". They offered a great intro rate and their packages are reasonable. You can also ask to receive a "Pawgress Report" which are photos of your dog during their stay. The staff is super friendly and the facility is great. We've only done the daycare part but I know they offer overnight stays and other extras like a dog spa. I will be continuing to use Doggy District. Thank you for being great with my dog. read more

Was scheduled to take my dog to this facility this morning, pulled into the parking lot to get him out and heard one of the workers screaming at a dog while hosing something down. She kept screaming different directions at the dog. While I could not see what was going on I knew I had to leave. Nothing deserves to be screamed at like that over and over. We have been a client for 4 years, and have been very disappointed with his recent boarding experience. We have also noticed a significant staff turn-over the past few years. Our dog, was boarded from the evening of October 2 until the morning of October 9th. We paid for an individual boarding with the 4 star package. The 4-star package, as listed on their website, has 2 individual play sessions daily, 1 photo update, 1 pawgress report , 2 potty walks, and extended checkout (5pm). The tangible items of a pawgress report and photo update were not completed. This leads us to question if the other items in the package purchased were honored (e.g. play sessions and potty walks). Additionally, the verbal report that we received after pickup sounded very out of character for our dog, so we were hoping to receive the photo and report promised. When we picked him up and questioned about not getting any communication that we part of the paid plan, the woman at the front desk said "oh our system was down but I'm sure someone has some pictures of him... I can tell you that he LOVED playing with the hose!" I stared at her, trying not to laugh, as I said "really? My dog hates the water... to the point he will walk to the other side of the street if sprinklers are on and we have to bribe him with treats to go outside if it's raining." She quickly backpedaled saying "oh, I meant he was just pawing at the hose! The hose was off!" Again, this doesn't make any sense as we have a hose in our back yard and our dog avoids. Additionally, we packed toys he does enjoy. At this point, I didn't even bother responding to that statement and simply said we were looking forward to receiving the pawgress report and photos. The terms of the package that we paid an extra $6 a day ($42 total) for were not met. While money is part of the concerns, our dog's well being is the major component. Because the terms of boarding were not met, we worry about the overall quality of care provided. To give them the benefit of the doubt, we gave them 48 hours to produce the report and pictures. Nothing. Then my husband sent an email to Doggie District and the email bounced back. He then submitted a request with that message on their intake form online. No response. A few days later, he called and left a voicemail. Again, crickets. The icing on the cake was getting home and having our dog feverishly rub his face on every surface. When we looked to see what was the matter, he had a stress rash. This has never happened after any other boarding and makes us question the quality of care provided. We are incredibly disappointed in service and lack of communication. We, luckily, have found somewhere else to board our dog and we don't have to deal with this mess again. read more

We booked a grooming for two small dogs, the first time they didn't put our appointment in the system which then made our dogs stay there for five hours in a kennel. We figured things happen so we gave them a second chance and booked two more appointments ten weeks out. We were told when dropping them off that we'd get a call from the groomer to discuss needs and desired trims. Never got a call but received a text and hour and half after the dogs appointments. I replied and provided the information. Two hours later I get a call saying they can't honor our appointment due to non communication! Then they proceeded to tell us they'd be happy to book another appointment, condescending and rude. We will never take any of our FOUR dogs there! It was hard finding a daycare with longer hours when you work the average 8-5. However, we found this place and LOVE it! Gage our husky LOVES it! He's smart enough to know when we pack his lunch & waits by the door so we can take him to daycare. I can tell the staff enjoys him too, they're very friendly, caring, and helpful. They're so excited to see him and say "Gage!" and also gage is excited when we pick him up. (They usually get a treat when they leave). The staff treats him as if it was their dog, they let you know updates about your dog as well. One time I pick him up and he was wet from playing in the water & they wiped him down. Gage also stepped on something and had a swollen paw they put some paw treatment before I took him home and gave some to take home and it went down the next day! Then they changed their policy to appointments. my schedule varies from day to day. When I asked for a refund because they changed their policy I was told no, they don't give refunds. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! My dog was attacked by two dogs on 07/12. They lied and told me there was only one wound. When I got to the vet, my dog had two wounds. He had to be sedated, drains put in as well as stitches. I was told today that they have not had any injuries in 6 months and that the wounds my dog has are minor. This was according to this girl who is in the "veterinary field". Whatever that means. Anyone in the veterinary field would've cleaned the wound better than she did and would've realized that if a dog is going to bite, there's probably not just one wound. I've seen several statements from past employees that say that there can be one or two employees for up to 100 dogs. Due to the shortage of employees I question how much time the dogs actually get to play out in the yard. There were at least two days recently where my dog wasn't even tired when he got home. They refuse to pay my $400 vet bill. They continue to say they will reach out to the parents of the animal that did this, but no follow up. They would not even assure me that the dog that did this would be banned from coming back because they had to look at if there was aggression. These kids that run this place are not equipped to handle any of this this and I would think DD would want to do better. They made light of the situation so much that I wasn't even going to go pick my dog up when it happened, but thank God I did because it was so much more serious than they made it out to be. I took my previous dog there and apparently having been a customer for several years meant nothing. They also won't tell me what kinds of dogs came after him. How do I know he won't now be aggressive or scared of dogs once I can start socializing him again. Their lack of concern is very alarming but they didn't think it was a big deal. read more

I couldn't even take my dog here because they don't allow pit bulls to be with the other dogs. If I wanted to board my dog or take her to daycare she would have to be in a private room and kept away from other dogs, even if she passed the meet and greet evaluation (which she would have passed I just didn't bother to waste the time taking her in after hearing that). They say it's due to insurance purposes, but why as a dog boarding facility wouldn't you pay the extra to be covered or switch insurance companies?? If I wanted my dog to be in her own kennel with minimal interaction I would just board her at her vet's office. Years ago I took a different dog to the Peoria location and she loved it and was able to play with all of the other dogs even though she was a pit bull too, so many be it's just this location that discriminates? read more

I am so happy that we found Doggie Dostrict as this establishment is fantastic! My German Shepherd mix puppy Maximus loves coming here, he gets so excited even as we are pulling up to park. He is very shy at first, but he is so familiar now with the friendly staff that he lets them take him back and his tail is wagging the whole time without a backwards glance at us! This review regards a four-day doggie stay over Memorial Day weekend (2018) and is the second time we patronized this business. Our first experience with Doggie District (DD) was as professional as could be expected. The latest experience was very disconcerting. Upon dropping off our dog we related to the staff she required medication for a connective tissue disorder. We were informed of a $5 per day medication-dispensation fee (DD has a fee for everything), which we had to pay to utilize their service. Upon pick-up, we were informed as we walked through the door (and which I thought was odd), that DD couldn't administer medicine THAT DAY. After getting our dog home it became clear she was having great difficulty walking. Since I administer her meds twice a day at home, I know how many days she has to be off medicine to become that degree of challenge again. It takes 3-4 days. I know for a fact that DD did NOT, despite charging us a daily fee, ensure our dog took the medicine for the majority of her stay. BTW, it takes 3-4 more days upon resuming her medicine to walk normal again. We were lied to and, DD extracted money from us for services they didn't perform. Unforgivable! read more

I have been taking my Lab to this Doggie Daycare since we moved to Arizona. My pup loves this place so much he whines and cries at the mention of going there. The Staff is very friendly and seem to care about my pet as much as I do. The place is very clean and the playground is sanitized daily so no worries with our Pup catching anything. We always bring home a very happy but tired Fur baby. I would highly recommend this place if you care about your dog. I will continue to take my pup there and will board him on trips. I am a regular at 4 paws Pet Resort on Greenfield and LOVE that facility. They referred me to this location because of a change in my work schedule. I took my dog in yesterday and went about my day. I even called to ask how my dog was doing and see if she was okay or if I needed to pick her up early. They said all is well and she's making new friends. That was a fucking lie. Please keep in mind my dog is an olde English bulldog which means overheating and heat stroke are common. When I picked her up she was showing signs of heat stroke and LIMPING to my car. A couple hours later and she couldn't even make it outside because she was limping so bad. When I called them today to find out why this is happening they said "oh she jumps and plays rough" okay and??? She has been going to daycare for years this has never been a problem until now??? These people are lazy and do not care about the well-being of your dogs only about the money they can make. Do yourself and your pup a favor, go somewhere else for day care!!!! read more

I took my dog there once a month for day boarding. At first it seemed great, staff is very nice. But...My dog picked up 2 types of intestinal worms. Giardia was one of them and I can't recall the name of the other worm at the moment. The facility doesn't let you view the backyard. My dog doesn't eat poop, but he will lick water off the ground if he's not watched and shooed away. I'm guessing there is standing water in the backyard that ends up with feces in it. My dog has come back several times covered in dirty water, which I don't mind that except that now I know he was drinking it and got worms. We live in an apartment and I really don't know how else he would have gotten worms TWICE. read more

This place is amazing and the only doggie daycare facility we could find that would work with our dog to socialize her after being kept home during the pandemic. We knew our German Shepherd (just over a year old) needed to be socialized this last year but were too fearful to take her out. Tara, the manager, told us they had a trainer on staff that could work with her to gain confidence so that she wasn't fearful around other dogs. We started taking her on slower days when the the trainer, Skylar, was on-site. Skylar introduced her to other dogs slowly over the last couple of months and we are happy to say that our dog can now be in group with many other dogs. All staff are trained on dog behavior and are aware that she needs monitoring so group her depending on which dogs are there that day. We are so grateful that we found a day care that could give her such special treatment as others we talked to would not. Individual training and is also offered but was not pushed on us. We highly recommend the Mesa facility to everyone especially those in a similar situation! read more

I love Doggie District for daycare for my two dogs. My dogs actually beg to go to daycare. They come home happy with tails wagging. I usually get a photo collage in our email of what they did that day. They have theme days and the photos are geared to that. As far as the care, I think the staff does great with my dogs. I have Aussie/Border Collie mixes and they are very sensitive to people and situations. If they didn't like it there and were being mistreated in any way, my dogs would show it in their actions when dropping them off. Believe me dropping them off at the groomers or going the vet, they try to pull us OUT the door and it's hard to get them in the front door of those places. Sort of like a child would be if you were taking them to a daycare they didn't like. My dogs can't wait to get inside the building and practically drag my husband in when he drops them off here. They don't even look back at us when a staff member is taking them back to play which tells me they are seriously happy here. The staff has been gracious and courteous. I recommend them to anyone. This is for the Mesa location at 3660 E Inverness Ave. I am only sharing this review with you all because we are pet lovers just like all of you who use this types of services.We had been going to this location for over a year in the past and it was always a great experience with the service staff and the facility itself when taking our dog for boarding, grooming or just for the day. A few months back new management had taken over, and since then we began to notice the customer service with the front desk staff, in person as well as on the phone and the way business was handled was not like how it used to be, Now when calling in to check in on our dog, at times when he stays there for a few days, and asking how our dog is doing? no more of the "give me a minute and let me go ask to see what I can find out for you" or a text we used to get with a :courtesy" update, or ending the call by at least saying "thank you" or "have a nice day". Now when you call and ask the question "how is my dog doing?" the immediate response that we get is "Oh he is doing good!" Really?? Do you know which dog is mine? I know I ask by my dog"s name, but obviously you probably are not the one in the back taking him out, or feeding him, in which that is a concern to us if you can't offer to go and check. Also, when we pay in advance when dropping him off rather than paying when picking him up, we are still being asked to pay??? Aren't they looking at our information in the computer?? This has happened more than twice, so we tell that we already paid, then they acknowledge that we had paid??? As for the grooming, recently we made an appointment and then were called back twice, the first time was to reschedule because they could not keep the appointment, the second time was to tell us that they could no longer groom him because there is no longer a groomer??? Finally, this last visit that our dog had stayed there, when we got home, he was starving!!! When we got home he practically ate a bowl and a half of his food!! Was there a problem with him not eating"" He never has had a problem eating before while being there?? This is why it is important to us and I am sure for many of you as well, that when we call and ask about our pets, please be honest and find out for us, For some of us, this is our only companion and all we got and we want to be assured that their well being is seriously being taken into consideration. Please don't give us the customer the impression that you have to be there rather than wanting to be there caring for our pets. It's sad to know that just because "new management" takes over, that the quality of care and service for our pets has to be second to how much we pay for the quality of care and service for our loving pets, I am not one to complain much, please believe me, (this is my first review) and of course I am not trying to put any one out of business, but when it comes to a member of my family and especially yours, you may want to consider the quality of service and care you are wanting for your pets?? if this is your first time, all will seem amazing and perfect for a few, but give it time in which I did and you be the judge. But please observe, ask questions, your the customer, it's your pet that they are caring for, be that person that demands to get the quality and care that your pet deserves. If you're looking for a dog groomer, trainer, occasional daycare or longer-term lodging for your dog you will not find a greater group of people, nicer facilities, or better services anywhere. The Doggie District team doesn't just love dogs they love their jobs too and it shows in how much my boy Blue has changed since he began going there. He was a hard case from the pound and had all kinds of anxiety and confidence issues but the careful socialization, additional training, and compassion he receives there has transformed him into a confident, well behaved, and joyful pup. Very dissatisfied with this facility. We took our two dogs for the meet and greet last week. Our dogs are shy and I explained they need to warm up to this new routine last Friday they said it was ok to bring them for the 3 day orientation today we dropped them off to start the orientation, they were there 20 mins when I got a call from DD telling us our dogs were not a good match for them bc they are biting and growling. One, our dogs have never bitten they are not aggressive Second, the one dog she accussed of aggressiveness has been the one being loveable and greeting the people in the reception area this very dog will give herself away.....none of it makes sense. The employee stated they won't qualify for boarding either because they fear feeding them, WTF?... you think I brought in tigers but they were just petting them....hmmm. My view is they are not experienced and are sending negative vibes. Animals pick up tension around handlers if the handler is not experienced. read more
