This place has amazing slices. The dough is so Crispy from the bottom and soft at the top. The sauce to cheese ratio is perfect. Oh and the wings are finger licking good. I get the spicy bbq it's not to sweet not to spicy just perfection smothered in a creamy ranch. They have so many choices for lunch specials. Dude honestly. It's pretty good. I got pepperoni, basil and garlic. I think what impressed me the most was the crust. The crust was totally different from what I've ever experienced. It was crispy but soft and a little buttery. Another thing, I was late to pick it up, and then had a 20-30 min drive home. Still tasted great when I got home. Additionally, when I had leftovers the next day (reheated in to oven) still impressively good. If you live in surprise I honestly believe this is the best pizza spot in the area. read more

As per usual, we're always on the lookout for a new (or new to us) NY style pizza place and Doda's did not disappoint. We had fried mushrooms, which my boyfriend gobbled up. Coating was nice and crunchy! For pizza, it was pepperoni and meatball with the addition of mushrooms on my boyfriend's half (see a trend?). It came out nice and hot and was very, very good! Meatballs are homemade (and good!) and the pepperoni had a nice taste. Sauce (or gravy!) was very tasty. Needless to say, we will be back. We also had the cannoli and cheesecake. The cannoli filling is homemade there and was delicious. Creamy, not gritty. The cannoli shell was nice and crunchy. The cheesecake, while not made there, was delicious! Dodas is probabky the best pizza in AZ. The toppings are fresh, the pizza is cooked to perfection and never soggy. Their hit BBQ wings are a MUST try, along with their fried zucchini. The staff is friendly and make you feel like one of the family. I've only gotten take out, but going in there to pick the food up is always an easy process. It's clean and everything I well stocked. Great Custoner Service and Food A great little spot to go for pizza, reminded me of back home (New York). The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Photos of New York scenes cover the walls and the incredible smell of pizza can't be unnoticed. The menu has options to satisfy everyone. On this visit we ordered the Siciluan meat lovers pizza. The thick Sicilian crust was perfect, the best I've had in a very long time and the sauce was perfect., deep rich, tomato flavor without a ton of salt. on my next visit I plan on trying the Margherita Pizza, the group next to us ordered one and it looked delicious. Their wings were the best wings I have had in a very long time. I can't wait to try some of the other selections on the menu. We got takeout for the first time from here and it was great! The pizzas were huge! We got the siciliana ziti pizza and green chili pizza. The ziti pizza was so good, I loved the ricotta in it and the noodles weren't crispy at all. The Caesar salad had a delicious dressing and lots of croutons. The wings were huge and had so much meat. We got the hot bbq which was like a spicy bbq. We'll definitely have to order from here again! We had tons of leftovers. read more

Ugh! I am always down to try a new pizza spot and tonight when we found ourselves nearby we decided to check out Doda's. I hate to say while there were some positives it was more negative for us. Service was pretty good. We were greeted right away and the gentleman at the counter smiled and gave us a few moments to look over the menu on the wall. There are no paper menus that o saw to take to a table. The location is very small, but holds about four booths as well as tables etc. It was quite warm inside and wished the air was on a bit lower. we decided on the medium Doda's Special and a anti pasta salad with a few fountain drinks. My husband pointed out how I picked a place with no beer...strike one for me I guess, but not their fault lol. We were told they'd bring the food to us when ready. The salad came out first and here's my first negative depending how you take it. We told them we'd be dining in and they brought our salad out in a to go container with a few things of dressing, two plates and I'm assuming they want us to eat off the same plate with our pizza. I'd prefer at least a bowl with the salad and extra plates so that dressing etc isn't all over the plate when our pizza came. While we tried to eat there was a girl at the table behind us, obviously family to the owner non stop loudly taking on her cell phone. The ENTIRE time we tried to enjoy our meal. While we tried to eat and enjoy ourselves it really was so frustrating and again, so loud. That's just rude IMO. When the pizza came I will say it looked great, crisp looking crust and good amount of toppings. It smelled great. We had to wait a few moments for it to cool a bit and dug in. We each ate a slice and it was clear that with so many toppings the crust does get a bit soggy, but still good. I liked it. Peppers were fresh and that's one of my favorite parts about s pizza. Unfortunately after one slice each we asked for a to go box as the girl yapping away made it less than an enjoyable experience. I'm giving three stars for the pizza itself being good and the service at the counter. Next time take your personal call outside or at-least turn it down to a normal decibel. I don't think we'll be back, bummer. read more

Ordered online and it was quick and easy. The cashier was incredibly helpful. Offering extra sauces and making sure that everything was done correctly. He really made it a pleasant experience. The pepperoni on mushroom pizza was okay. We went with the crispy crust which I would recommend. There was just nothing special about it that caught my fancy. I would compare it to il primo. Love NY pizza? This is the place to go. Photos of NY scenes line the walls and the delectable scent of sauce filled the air. Honestly, I have not smelled that particular sauce aroma mingling with a pizza oven hot enough to put a good char on it since I left NY many moons ago so this was like a time machine. This cozy place has a non-chain family run feel to it, and no wonder, it is indeed a family operated business and multiple generations were there to make me feel right at home. Had I just wanted to snack on a slice, I could have gotten one--something that is often hard to come by in the Valley. They have reasonably priced lunch specials like subs, wings, slices, and combos, but I was there to try their original cheese pizza for a no-frills experience and it did not disappoint. No soggy parts on the bottom, and as any New Yorker will tell you, just firm enough to fold and pick up and bite into without tug-o-warring it. And that sauce wasn't outta any can, and that wasn't any phony or cheap-o cheese. Short of heading back East, take a little trip to Doda's. P.S. Only a minor suggestion re: the crust. I moved to Surprise, AZ 3 yrs ago, and as a professed pizzaholic I've searched the state for good pizza, even having traveled all the way to Gila Bend because of positive reviews for a good pie. I recently took a party of 8 to Doda's Pizza, and I can happily say it is the best pizza I've had so far here in AZ. Delicious NY style pizza with a good crust that was cooked perfectly and did not dominate the pizza. The sauce was flavorful in the right amount, generous with the cheese with fresh toppings. It's a nice little restaurant with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. I assume it is family owned, we were greeted and served with hospitality. The price is very reasonable, as locally I've paid much more for much less the quality. There is plenty of parking as it is located in a strip mall type of location. Overall, as for now Doda"s Pizza will be my "go to" place when I need a fix, and I highly recommend it. read more

This is a small but nice pizza place. I usually got a lunch special (2 slices and a drink) for a reasonable price (considering all this inflation) the pizza tastes really good. First time trying Dodas so my wife and I went with a couple of slices with drink and an order of fried mushrooms. Very good pizza. I had sausage on 1 and peppers and onions on the other.
