It is perhaps one of the more homemade wood fired pizza establishments that you can find within Arizona. It's local, highly rated, and not bad. I got a Margherita pizza, and although it isn't as extravagant with toppings like Grimaldi's may be, it is fresh. Pizza Star has an average menu price of $17, and $6 if you like cannolis. I will note that many people would probably rate this family owned business's pizza 4 stars overall since price may be the issue or since there may be better options, but it is consistent. It was a spot I drove past almost every day for work. It had been there for maybe a year or two, maybe longer, and to make it clear, this is not a restaurant. They're mobile-operated, and it was worth checking out. The area itself is next to a bike place, a gas station, a Sonic, and a school. This is family friendly for sure, because you'll even have other businesses around in the parking lot. But it's great ambiance. On the corner of an intersection with some seats, I sat eating their pizza without any concern for my safety as soon as the doors locked. The father and most likely the son of the establishment are attentive to their customers and will ask questions... either way, great service, but maybe hard to decide between other places and this due to price. If they made it like $1-3 cheaper, I personally would be there every week. But do try it. I only got one pizza anyways. read more

If you're not eating here, you're missing out! Easily the best pizza in Phoenix!! I don't have any photos of the pizza because we ate it so fast! The ingredients are impeccable and the San Marzano sauce makes everything sing. The crust is crispy and chewy and sweet perfection! The owner is so nice and chats while he's making your masterpiece. I wish I could give more stars, and will definitely be getting myself more Pizza Star asap!!! The pizza is made very quickly in the hot wood- fired oven, so even if you see a line, stick around, you won't be waiting long! And it's sooooo worth it! Pizza Star may be the absolute best pizza in Arizona. For such a small, quaint and fun popup of sorts, the mastery of ingredients cannot be matched. The best way to describe this pizza, whereas almost every pizza out there tastes the same, Pizza Star flavor can only be described as 100% fresh. The ingredients are chosen and made from the finest available and created with the best ingredient, love. Perfectly topped be that sauce or (insert topping), no ingredient is out matched by another. The perfect amount of each is carefully added to create an other worldly experience of taste. Veggies, OR meat, OR cheese, and the perfect sauce make this one of the very best however you prefer. Been driving by this place for years and always wanted to stop. We did tonight and I'm upset we didn't stop sooner. Pizza was very fresh, and very quick! So we called today and they are not out in their usual spot (understandably so as it's freaking hot outside) He told me he was working out of his house and I decided let's check it out. SUCH A GOOD DECISION! Fast friendly service! He took our order over text, and the pizza was amazing!! I will say that my husband got the capricossa pizza and it was definitely the best one (not that my Hawaiian pizza was bad it most certainly was delicious but the Italian style topping one was exceptional!) wow! such high quality delicious pizza. i've never seen a pizza food stand/truck in AZ & after reading other reviews i knew i couldn't pass my opportunity to try this place. got their Hawaiian pizza as i too believe pineapples do belong on pizza... i made sure to take my first bite there on site fresh out the oven and it did not disappoint. fresh ingredients and high quality evoo. love that it's wood fired and family owned, you can tell a lot of love and care goes into their food & i love seeing it made fresh right in front of you. wish this place was closer to me but i will be making the drive to have again and sharing with family & friends that live nearby! great customer service and overall atmosphere. if you're nearby definitely worth stopping! read more

What went well? Everything!! My husband happened upon the "Pizza Star" by chance. A "mobile pizza place" witha woodburning oven intreagued him and he decided to try the place. Boy, are we glad he did! I am from Europe and have longed for a REAL Italian pizza since I moved to the US 35 years ago.... This pizza finally was THE REAL THING! Starting with the amazing homemade pizza dough, which had just the right chew and the right flavor! They have a huge selection of Italian pizzas - but you also can select your own toppings! All of them are of amazing quality! The owner and main pizza maker/baker is running this business with such kindness and a twinkle in his eyes! Helping him are his wife and his son. Star, the wife, bakes the yummy Italian pastries - which, too, taste so authentic! I am very particular about take-out food! I care about who made or touched it! This family feels like friends we have had for many years! We absolutely LOVE their pizzas, and it feels wonderful to know that such pleasant and kind people made them for us! They also cater events -- and it happens that an event is off their location. If we have called them and wanted to place an order, but they were not working that day on the 6710 W Thunderbird location, they will actually call us or send a text, informing us, when they will be back in Glendale! Who does that? Well -- the owner of the Pizza Star does!! We love the authentic pizza the Pizza Star makes and we recommend this mobile place wholeheartedly! This is probably the best pizza I have had in a LONG time. We've had Domino's, Little Caesar's, Pizza Hut, Barro's, Hungry Howie's, Lucky's, Ray's--You name the pizza place, we've probably had it. We've driven by this place so many times and always wanted to give it a try but hadn't until tonight. It's worth the stop!! The pizzas are a great size, you can share or not (We did not, we got two pizzas for a reason lmao) The sauce is amazing, there's chunks of tomato in it and the pepperonis are the real round pepperoni, not the sad little circles you get from all the other places. The crust is fluffy but crispy, so you can tell whoever came up with how to make these pizzas knows what they're doing. The man (possibly the owner?) handing us our pizzas even thanked us for coming.
