We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza with added sausage and red onions, while my wife went with a Margherita Pizza topped with ricotta, pineapple, and black olives. Yes, pineapple and olives together. YUCK! Somehow, that's one of her favorite combinations, but I'll leave that one to her!
Both pizzas were excellent. The crust was exactly what I look for in a Neapolitan-style pizza, nicely crisp on the bottom with a soft, chewy outer crust. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the pizzas had that wonderful balance of texture without feeling overly heavy. We also shared a Caesar salad with crisp romaine, shaved Parmesan, and croutons. Everything was fresh and nicely presented.
One of the coolest parts of CHAR is the open kitchen. You can watch the staff stretch the dough, add toppings, and prepare each pizza right in front of you. There's something enjoyable about seeing the entire process, especially with the variety of ingredients available.
The restaurant itself is spacious, with booths, tables, and bar seating. The darker wood accents, decorative ceiling, and warm lighting give it a comfortable, casual atmosphere. They also have a nice selection of beer, wine, and specialty cocktails.
What really stood out, though, was the service. Our pizzas were brought directly to our table, and a young gentleman went out of his way to offer us takeout boxes, even though they're available in the common area. He also cleared our table without us having to ask. Those might seem like small gestures, but they show genuine attention to customers and a willingness to help.
Overall, excellent pizza, fresh ingredients, a welcoming atmosphere, and customer service that goes beyond what's expected. CHAR is definitely a place I'd happily return to. Just don't expect me to order my wife's pineapple and olive creation!
