I have been here several time before and love the l views , great drinks and Music ... but the food ? What is happening ? The Maryland crab soup at market price ? We went there in mid August for lunch with 3 kids who are all very particular and picky eaters. Service was friendly, very accommodating to the kids requests. Food was good all around and nothing can beat the view. There is also a nicely appointed tiki bar section (which we only walked through) if you prefer a more adult kind of setting. As a general rule I am very hesitant to give a 5 star rating but this one came extremely close. We will be back. read more

Absolutely the crab cakes around! Full of meat, very minimal filler. I got the stuffed shrimp and it was very good as well. For our appetizer my kids and I shared steamed shrimp and the seafood nachos. OMG! Both were very tasty. UMMM UMM GOOD! The view is the icing on the cake. It's so beautiful there. The view and location is stunning. The service was great. Food was good but prices are too high. Appetizers were $16. Appetizers should not be more expensive than entrees. I ordered fish and chips and it looked great. I wasn't aware they were using catfish though and was disappointed. I guess I was expecting cod or something similar. Six of us all had an amazing experience. Great service by Krista, and delicious food. Highly recommend the tuna sandwich, fish tacos or shrimp Caesar salad. Side cucumber salad was also a nice alternative to fries. For kids the Mac-n-cheese was a hit as was the teriyaki chicken (complete with lots of broccoli which got eaten). Food is nothing to write home about but the water front atmosphere is amazing. One of my pet peeves is warm beer and the three different drafts that we ordered were warm. Not sure I will be back since there are many other better options close by. read more

Was really hoping for a decent dinner but it just isn't that great. The waitress messed up our order of cream of crab soup and brought Joe Maryland crab soup. She fixed it and let us keep the wrong one. The cream of crab is excellent. The Maryland crab soup was so heavy on old bay it just wasn't real good. I ordered the crab cakes and they were good but had a lot of shell in them so maybe that is the filler. My wife ordered the flounder stuffed with crab and honestly, it was flat out horrible. It had nothing but shells, fish was overcooked and the crab was flavorless. During dinner the waitress never once offered a drink refill and disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. This was my first time here since the it got converted to Doc's (which was Pier Street in previous years) and it was pretty good. The location is awesome! It's right on the water and has indoor and outdoor seating. Their are plenty of boats in the area if you like boating or being on the water. Great location! Especially in summer and on warm days. The food was ok. I got the fried calamari, which was good! Crispy and not over cooked. I also got their crab dip, which lacked crabmeat and flavor. Their menu is Eastern Shore seafood (great stuff) like soft crabs, rockfish, clams, Oysters, hard crabs and shrimp. Service was good! For my Birthday I wanted to go someplace on the water that had a nice view with an outdoor deck. I checked the reviews for Doc's Sunset Grille. They were mixed. But, I noticed most of the negative reviews were from when they first opened. What made me decide to give them a shot was that the owner personally addressed each negative review. Great thing to do Imo.... They seem to have come along way since their rocky start. Our dinner was awesome! We started with seafood nachos and calamari. The nachos had plenty of seafood on them and the calamari was crispy and not at all burned. Flash fried perfectly. My wife ordered the Eastern Shore BLT. She was very happy with it. It had fried green tomatoes on it. Our children ordered the BLT salad w/chicken, Crabcake sandwich, and the chicken Chesapeake sandwich. All were pleased as well. I did notice my son's chicken Chesapeake sand had a very generous portion of crab dip on it! But IMO the best was my Soft Crab sandwich! It had two great size soft crabs on it. They were lightly dusted with seasoned flour and fried cridpy on the outside and just right in the middle. I added bacon to mine. 2 large crispy strips. I would have given a five star but there were a few quirky things that stopped me. We arrived for an early dinner at 4pm. so we could sight see afterward. But, dinner is not served until 5pm. So, we wern't able to get the specials either. The soups were not listed on the menu so we dint know they had soup until we saw it on another table... We had great service from Sarah. She was able to answer all our questions and was very accommodating. Even held our leftovers for us while we went sight seeing.... All in all I would recommend giving Doc's a try for an enjoyable dinner in an awesome waterfront atmosphere. read more

Bar service was fast and friendly. Food was average - I got the fish and chips, which should be a pretty common dish and it was not very good. The quality of the fish just wasn't there. Our waitress was Katie and she did a wonderful job of serving us. I think she forgot us at first but she was so sweet she made up for it easily. The food was excellent! I got steamed shrimp and they were out of the park. Seafood Nachos and Guacamole hummus were excellent appetizers. But it was all eclipsed by the view from the outdoor dining. Great location out on the Tred Avon river. Decor is simple and fun (think coastal Florida) and service is good. Food was better than average. We had steamed shrimp and crab dip for appetizers, Seafood nachos, french dip and a salad topped with a crab cake for entree. All were well prepared, fresh and tasty. The crab dip was especially good--not a big goopy mess you often get, but a nicely balanced mixture of crab and cheese with scallions and old bay (of course) for seasoning, served with a sour dough type ciabatta bread that was super yummy. Nobody is steering the ship! A storm was coming across the bay. It was on the TV in the bar. But instead of moving the people out on the porch inside in an organized fashion, the 3 teenaged, hair twirling, nail biting, hostesses panicked and just stopped seating people as the storm hit and everyone ran in and just started grabbing tables. It was complete chaos. After an hour of waiting for a table I asked how much longer and 2 of the hostesses looked at each other, giggled nervously and said they had no idea what was going on so they stopped seating people. Been wanting to try Docs in oxford out for a long time. Living close to the original in centreville figured we would know what to expect. For the location in the summer you cant be the atmosphere for sure. Great views, nice size outdoor bar and seating. We came on a tuesday when it was dead. We sat at the outdoor bar. There was two bartenders working the bar. The service was average at best. It was hot so drinks didn't last long and they sat empty till we flagged down the bartender to ask for another. They seemed more concerned to talk to the few locals that were there then tend to us. We ordered food - wings and a salad. It arrived about 25-30 mins after we put in are order. When the bartender asked if everything was ok. I said the food was good but seemed to take a long time. She responded well we just sat a 12 top when you ordered. I asked well if 12 people was all it took to make the kitchen bog down what was it like when things are busy. She just looked at me and walked away. I will not be coming back but hey that's just me. I went to Doc's only expecting to spend a hour or so for lunch, but that didn't happen. I ended up staying for 6 hours. Once I was done with my delicious lunch I had a cocktail and ventured outside. There was a live band cranking out hits next to the tiki bar, which is huge. After a while I decided I might as well eat dinner since it had been a while. Dinner was great! The spot as a whole is amazing. The owner is always looking to improve an already great experience and his staff is awesome, they are all super helpful and joyful to be around. If I didn't live 2 hours away I'd be there on the reg, but I'll definitely be back to kick my dogs up and drink some orange crushes! read more

We've been trying to support this place ever since the turnover from Pier St. (which was awful). The location is the draw obviously, and the waitstaff and bartenders have always been great. However (and the same issue persists at their Easton location) they do not have ANY vegetarian options. How hard is it to make a veggie burger? Not hard. I'll give you a recipe which can be frozen and simply thrown on the flat top grill. It's not that difficult to please diners of all pursuasions. We even asked for an eggplant parm appetizer at this location which was on their menu in Easton before we learned it had been removed from the menu in both places. We dine out a lot and love this spot for the view, the bar and the servers but the management has a lot to learn about the food part of the equation. We've told our servers several times so management is clearly not getting the message or just doesn't care. Vegetarians have money to spend and cannot subsist on fries and salads alone. And BTW - THEY DON'T EAT FISH. read more

We were there during their "soft" opening. They had a live band that was supposed to play from 4-7, but continued way past that, which made having a conversation difficult due to the loud music (the band was good, though). We were originally told the wait would be 45 minutes for outside. So, after an hour, we looked around and saw several open tables. Made us curious. So we asked the hostess when we would be seated and mentioned the open tables. She said the kitchen was backed up due to several large parties. And in a not very nice manner, told us the wait could be an additional hour, or even longer! Wow! So we told her we would be back, and started to walk back to our boat. We weren't back at the boat for 5 minutes, when they called to say our table was ready. Clearly, there is miscommunication among the staff. The waitress was very nice, and the food, was pretty good. I hope they get past their growing pains, because you can't beat the location and view. read more

This restaurant was such a let down. I had been to the Docs in Easton and it was excellent. I came to the new Docs in Oxford with my family since we're local and just wanted to check it out. The restaurant was not "busy". There were many open tables when we arrived and the hostess made us wait 20 minutes- even though she only said it was going to be a 5 minute wait. When we were finally seated it took the waitress about 10 minutes to even get to our table to take our drink order. After taking 10 more minutes to bring us out only water, she asked if we wanted any appetizers. This time, my husband timed how long it took for that to come since he was starting to get annoyed and it took 40 minutes for it to come out. The week before, we ate at Capsize, also in Oxford, and it only took around 10 minutes to come out and they were extremely busy. We ordered the crab dip and it had to be the worst I've ever had. It was completely burned on the top to the point where it was pretty much wasn't edible. The bread that came with it was literally frozen on the inside; when we ripped it open you could see ice on the inside and cold air came out of it. Then she took our order, we would have wanted it sooner but she never came back to the table after she took our appetizer order. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and that also took another 30 minutes to come. My bun was completely burned and was not edible AT ALL. I started to eat the crab cake with a fork and was about to take a bite and THERE WAS A HAIR IN IT!!! Overall, the food was terrible and the service was terrible; our experience here was not enjoyable. The only reason this restaurant deserves one star is because the view from the deck outside was incredible. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS RESTAURANT EVER! read more
