This was by far the most disappointing place we've eaten at in the last year. The servers were friendly and we got our food pretty fast, but that's were the good points stop. The gravy for the poutine tasted liked canned gravy, the curds were fried so long they were hard, and the cheese had no flavor. The fries themselves were soft and mushy, and I mean the ones that never touched the gravy were soft and mushy. We might have eaten a quarter of it and we just left the rest. The Shepard's Pie was swimming in gravy to the point it felt like eating soup. The mash was not crispy at all, it was either too soaked in gravy or they never bothered to bake it. Also the portion size was a joke. The turkey patty on my wife's burger tasted like it had been frozen and it was chewy. To top it all off the bill was $37 for a child sized portion of Shepard's Pie, a frozen turkey burger, and questionable poutine. read more

Cool sports bar with relatively good food, the service can be extremely slow, it seems to be a popular spot in town.

Went to the bar at Doc's and was asked for my ID. Okay, no big deal, as I appear young. However the bartender decides to pass my ID to another CUSTOMER who flashes his police badge at me in a pathetic attempt at intimidation. Following this, the officer passed my ID to a bouncer to further confirm I am of age, to which the bouncer jokingly refers to my ID as fake. Never in my life have I felt so embarrassed by the staff at a restaurant/bar or had an entire scene made around me for no reason whatsoever. So this place has a dark interior which makes it appear to be more intimate but it also has the feel of a local pub. Patrons are usually split between the table service and sitting at the bar. They do have outdoor seating as well during the warmer months. They have more "bar food" with a couple Irish dishes but more Irish - American style food. read more

Terrible service. Our waitress had us waiting for 10 minutes before she came to the table, took our order and went to put it in. 10 minutes after that she finally brought our drinks to us. The booth we sat at had crumbs all over the seats, and trash on the floor under the table. The bathrooms were filthy also. The food was actually good, and they do have a large variety of beer on tap. The bartender with the grey hair and the breath that smelled like alcohol has a temper. Quite a shame for the rest of the staff. There's a McDonalds less than a mile away that could be a better option. If you need to use the restroom, it's best to hold your bladder because the toilets seldom operate. Doc's was okay. We decided to come here because our favorite place could not accommodate a party of our size on the given night. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Being a sports style bar it was exactly what you'd expect. Loud, lively and a little bit sticky. We had a rather large party and the staff had no problem splitting the bill up and working with us. Our waitress was rather slow and tended to forget about us a lot but she had a lot on her plate so there was no sense in making a fuss. The only big issue was the kitchen staff running plates. They weren't taking the orders so they had no idea where things were going. We were delivered the wrong food on multiple occasions and had several things completely forgotten about. The food itself was decent. The zingers were probably the best thing we ordered. Very standard boneless wings but the chicken was great quality and cooked perfectly. They went over really well with everyone at the table and I don't think we left a single one behind. Over all this place was alright. I wouldn't mind coming here again but it definitely won't be at the top of my list. read more

Apparently they only have that when the food truck is open. They can't either buy extra or learn how to make it when the truck isn't there? The food we did order was not good. French onion soup wasn't the best had a weird flavor. The potato soup was cold, gummy, etc. The chicken tacos app were definitely a frozen app out of the bag. I came here with my family and friends all 25-52 years in age ( including my parents) and they came for a drink and I drove them since I'm 18 and obviously and can't drink so I'm the DD. I was asked for my ID and I said oh I'm 18 I'm not drinking and I was told I couldn't be in the outdoor bar area if I wasn't 21 even if I didn't get a drink and was next or my parents. So we left the bar area and went into the restaurant to dine at a table and get food and were told that was no problem. As soon as we were seated the server came over and said i couldn't be there at the normal dining table in the dining room after 9 since I'm not 21 when all I wanted was a cheesesteak and a water. My parents were literally next to me and I'm not even the type to sneak drinks. I literally had to either leave and let my parents drive home drunk or stay and get kicked out for literally not even getting alcohol or going near it. Since when can I not eat at a restaurant after 9 and get a sandwich and a water or Diet Coke and be Carded when i didn't even order a drink or sit at the bar? Beyond ridiculous I was declined service for nothing and was discriminated against for being a 18 year old female. I was the reason my parents had to leave their friends and go home and I feel bad for them having to leave all because i couldn't order food and sit there not even with a drink in front of me? Imagine going to get food and you can't order a cheesesteak because your not 21? Is there alcohol in a cheesesteak? Had a Buffalo chicken salad and it was literally just chicken on lettuce with a few tomatoes, cumberno onion, no cheese, nothing special, not worth 13 bucks. A really really bland salad. I know this isn't a salad-works but still. A little more effort could make a heck of a difference and a good Buffalo chicken salad could be a popular item. Went here last weekend on Friday night to meet up with a friend from high school and his wife. I wasn't expecting much but this was a lesser version of an Applebee's or Chili's. Almost everything on the menu is either frozen or pre-prepared that is just deep-fried or reheated before it is served. This includes the burgers and fries. We had the wings as an appetizer which are clearly frozen, full of grizzle, and a very mediocre hot sauce. Didn't even finish them. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which I figured it would be fine. It was overcooked and the lettuce wasn't even fresh romaine or iceberg but garnish lettuce with a single slice of wilted tomato. My girlfriend had a grilled chicken caesar salad which she ate about half of it and didn't finish because of the dressing. The service was subpar too. It took a while for the food to come out despite it not being that busy, the waitress didn't come back to ask us how things were after she served our food, and we had to go up to the bar to get refills on water. Young, good-looking waitress who simply didn't do an adequate job. I might go back here to grab a drink (varied selection of beers on tap) and sit out on the deck in the summer but I would avoid the food here. I understand why locals would go here given the limited restaurant options in Gilbertsville but I would just drive the additional 10 or 15 minutes to much better options in Pottstown or Mount Penn/Exeter instead. read more

Food came out slow, and it took 20 minutes of sitting around before we got a check after we had clearly finished eating. Had a large party of of 8 on trivia night (fun) so we pushed two tables together, and the waiter gave us crap about it when there were plenty of open tables! My husband and I moved to Pennsburg a few years ago and even though we like our "around the corner" places, we were looking for a new regular place to come. A friend recommended Doc's. When we arrived the evening of July 3rd, at first glance the place looked nice, the bartender was sweet even though she was busy and the menu looked good. We ordered drinks and food. Our bartender was very attentive to our drinks but that it's where the niceness stopped. We patiently waited for our food all the while seeing your young food runners having no idea where they were going. By default, they seemed to end up at a large table where a regular who everyone calls Pop-Pop ( mid 50s) and very boisterous. Everything that came over he took. After 40 minutes we saw our food come out and be taken over to Pop pop. Thinking he would say it wasn't his, he took it anyway and shared it with his friends. We tried to get someone's attention but had no luck. When our bartender returned she was surprised that we hadn't received our food. We told her what we thought happened. She was very apologetic and confirmed that was the case. She asked the kitchen to remake it. After another half hour and still no food she checked and here your cook put it at the end of the line instead of expediting it. At that point we said don't bother and left. You should be embarrassed by this situation and how it was handled. read more

Asked for mild wings but there was barely any sauce to the point that my father ate one and thought they were purposely dry. The wings were soggy and had a crazy amount of fat in them. We were seated at the table closest to the darts and the pool table. Two couples decided to let their kids play unattended. We had a pool ball come rolling at us and the darts were getting pretty close too. At one point their 3 year old was crawling across the pool table! The waiter told them to stop but they didn't and their parents didn't care. It was their fault, not the restaurant's, however at that point the staff needed to intervene and be a little firmer. You've got to deal with the rude customers who ruin others' meals. The food was average bar food. We had apps- nothing special but ok. And not two minutes after we got our apps, our food came! I specifically told him not to bring dinner right away. I was annoyed by that. The wings were awesome. Our waiter was less than friendly until close to the end of the meal. read more
