I used to come here all the time. I haven't been there in 3 years and i was really craving their good food. Service was great, but honestly highly disappointed on the food. I used to get the beesting boneless wings (used to be fried and very saucy) they had a great spicy flavor. I would also get the cheese steak egg rolls those would be fried nicely and cut on an angle served with a spicy ketchup. I had ordered that thinking that's what I was going to get, but this was honestly cafeteria food. Chicken is soggy like frozen chicken you'd get from Walmart the sauce is soaked into it. The eggrolls were served with marinara sauce. Over all not what I was hopping for. And almost $30 for that was very insane. I'm not sure if there is new management, but they need to bring the old food back. Overall would not go back and not worth the price when I could've gone to Walmart and got this. read more

Typical PA bar menu. Bartender was friendly. Was only looking for a beer and quick bite and surprised by menu prices, a bit pricey. $16 for 10 wings? Went with $7 French onion soup. They should probably take it off the menu, as cheese was burnt and broth had nominal flavor. Would have asked for salt and pepper but had to run. Not sure it's worth a revisit. read more

This was a nice tavern to sit down with my father and son to eat at. The food was great, and the service was wonderful, but it's not the place to go if you prefer wine over beer. Talk about meeting expectations! Oh boy. Me and the gang arrived at this pub with good vibes and low standards. We expected food, fun, and something to take our minds off the slow and unstoppable approach of death that eats away at the seconds we have left. I was perusing the bright green laminated menu (straight out of a 2nd grade classroom) and I had an internal battle to decide between the fish and chips and the drunken Mac and cheese. The drunken Mac and cheese, backed by my inner demons, won out. As it turned out, my general lack of awareness got the better of me, and I didn't realize that drunken Mac and cheese meant the chef was drunk, and therefore didn't read the directions on the box. The noodles were more cooked than Joe Rogan, and the sauce made cheese whiz seem like an Italian delicacy. I can't begin to describe my disappointment with the Cassidy fries, but I will. They were saturated in watery cheese sauce, topped with poorly crumbled bacon bits that had probably fallen out of the chef's hair for all I know. I don't think anyone is coming here for the food, but if they are, they shouldn't. Let this be a warning; the hubris of man is a sword that can only be unsheathed into the heart of Beauty manifest. read more

Had to stop out here today and was looking for a place for a nice lunch. I saw the reviews for here and have it a try. Glad we did!! Our server was awesome, he had a great sense of humor and was personable. I didn't take pics of all the food but here's what we ordered.. French Onion soup- was really good, lots of cheese and NOT salty. I've been places where it's a years worth of sodium in it and this was a nice balance. Potato Soup- Hot, cheesey and delicious Onion rings- Crispy, but not where the coating comes off when you eat them. Fish and chips- the fish was flaky and moist. Not your traditional type you get some places, but this was good! Sheppard's Pie- I'm not going to lie, when it came out I looked at it and was sort of disappointed. It has brown gravy on top of potatoes and it looked strange. BUT.... Looks can be deceiving (I didn't take a pic because he ate it) it was delicious, flavorful and one of the top ones we've tried! There's a great selection of beers, they even had one that was hard to find. Prices? Their prices are actually pretty darn good! Definitely not an expensive place by any means and I've paid more for a lot less. They have tons of TV's so you won't miss your games and they had a good crowd for a Friday afternoon. I highly support Jack Cassidy's, this would be a 5 star review if it wasn't for the vaste difference in bartending skills behind the bar. So I stumbled on Jack Cassidy's because....well it's Pottstown and there's literally like 3 bars in the whole town. We came on a Thursday the first time, which happens to be the best day ever - $2 What You Call Its - aka whatever you want to drink except top shelf and shots. We took advantage and had a round of Jack & Cokes, and ordered some food. As for the food, I am a BIG fan of the ham and cheese on a pretzel bun. I know this sounds mighty simple, but I have come to have low expectations when it comes to something that may sound simple. Needless to say, the sandwich was great, although it wasn't as much of a preztel bun as I envisioned, still great flavor, especially with the addition of the honey mustard sauce. I also had the cheese and bacon fries, again, low expectation equals high results. The type of cheese they used was a mixture of guyere and mozz, with big chunks of bacon and a side of sour cream that brought it all together. As for ambiance, it is a very chill bar, maybe 10 people on any given night. They sometimes have a DJ as well. The big appeal factor for me is the shuffle board table in the back, as I played my first game here and it was a lot of fun. (a) Section 493(14) of the Liquor Code (47 P. S. § 4-493(14) (c) To qualify for this exception, a licensee will assure that: (2) Alcoholic beverages are not served to any adult at the table or booth where the minor is seated, unless the minor is also there with a parent, legal guardian or proper supervisor. 3 people 35 years+ constitutes proper supervision. Pub 990 is gone and Jack Cassidy's proudly sits at 990 W High Street again! For those who may remember, Jack's occupied this space until a fire closed the business in 2011. The building reopened in 2014 as Pub 990, but some changes have been made since then, and it is once again known as Jack Cassidy's Irish Pub. I never visited the original Jack's but I hear people smoked there. The new Jack's is 100% nonsmoking. They are offering a different special every night of the week. I visited this past Monday, and enjoyed $4 microbrews until Midnight. The beer was cold, and I saw several great choices on tap. I am planning a return visit this weekend. In this time of COVID-19 they are pulling out all the stops: masks, outdoor seating, limited seating, factory-wrapped cutlery, and strategic social distancing. The food was great! I recommend the pork pot stickers for the appetizer (if you like a little heat). The drinks were inexpensive, tasty, and filled to the brim of the glass! The server even took the time to break down what she puts in the cocktails we ordered so that we knew exactly what we were getting. The staff was kind and the service was excellent! They absolutely went above an beyond on multiple occasions tonight, whether it be with our order coming out faster then expected to giving the kids in the outdoor seating area sparklers to play with (after asking their parent's permission of course), as well as side walk chalk. Good atmosphere, not so great food or service. Went for dinner recently and there was no one seating people. We stood there for a few minutes as servers walked by before asking someone if we can seat ourselves. When we got seated, we ordered two beers and the onion ring appetizer. Our server disappeared for a bit but eventually came out and said both beers we ordered were out of stock. The onion rings came out and were super watery, like dripping. The taste wasn't bad but not great either. We then ordered the fish and chips, and the Irish banger sausage sandwich. Waiter said that he would have to wait a bit to put the food order in because the kitchen was backed up, although there weren't a lot of people in there. There was a football game on tv, and the atmosphere was good since everyone seemed to be rooting for the same team. Our food eventually came out and was decent but not good. Sandwich was plain with melted square of cheese on top. Fries were stale tasting, and my wife's coleslaw was super watery. Her fish was good, but that's about it. Waters ran out during the meal also and took a long time to get re filled. Not a terrible experience, but with the sub par food and service we probably won't be coming back. read more

If I can give this zero stars, I would. I just experienced the worst service I've ever had in my entire life this evening. My friends and I got to the restaurant at 7 and did not get our food until 8:30. The wings came out overcooked and cold, they messed up our pretzel order and the fries were overcooked as well. There were tables that just got up and left. The pub also had their softball sponsored team come in and they got their food right away. I would rate the food but didn't get a chance too as we were sitting for 30 minutes and no one even made an attempt to take our order. The bartenders looked over at us several times and still didn't get served. It seems as if you are not a regular do not go there because it will be an unpleasant time. I've been going to jack Cassidy's since the day I turned 21, it has always been a great place to get together with friends and the food has always been good. Until recently. The food is mediocre at best, it takes forever to get served. It's no longer a place my friends and me consider going. They don't look out for their customers the way a bar should, they've over served people and then kick them out. Came for taco Tuesday and was not disappointed. It was $2 per taco and $4 per beer. Tacos were amazing and the place was packed. Really typical bar vibes with tons of life in it. There was only one waitress working so our food took a while, but the bartender Jay helped out a lot. Both were working insanely hard and getting the job done. Ten (10) ladies arrived at the restaurant and were immediately met by Stacie. She brought two tables together and sat all of us. She took our drink orders. She took our meal orders. My teenage son and I stopped in to watch football on a Sunday afternoon, as our favorite team was not being broadcasted on local television. The wait staff was quick to find us a TV to tune to the game, as most guests were watching the Eagles game. Our waitress was extremely friendly the entire time and was always quick to serve us our food and drink. They had a 50 cent wings during the game, so we tried 3 different flavors which were all great. It's tough to find good wings in Pottstown, so I was quite surprised at how good these were. We also ordered a couple other apps which were good as well. Overall, we had a great afternoon watching football and snacking on good food. Attractive looking bar in a homey town. Although calling it an Irish Pub is a bit of stretch. Not much Irish about it other than they have shepherds pie and serve Guinness. My date loved her pulled pork sandwich. I had a short rib sandwich...the meat was good, but the sandwich was a bit bland and dry. The bacon and cheddar fries were excellent! Service was a bit lackluster, too. Our waitress was more interested in socializing with the staff than waiting on us. Overall, the place was just okay. read more

I really wanted to like this place but they failed miserably. This is my third and last time at jacks. The first time I did enjoy the food and the service was average. The second time I had to ask for a menu and order from my table at the bar. The food was OK that time so I let it slide. The third time is where all hell broke loose. We came on a Wednesday for wing night. It was busy but not something a normal restaurant can't handle. Well... We sat down, waited... Waited, had to flag the only waitress for a menu. We then ordered some beers, wings and fries. Simple right? Not for jacks! The wings and fries took an hour and a half to come out. We noticed other people with the same problem walk out while we were waiting. We really stuck in there hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel. Finally... An hour and a half later Our wings came out... cold. How could they ALL be cold? It doesn't even make sense! Its not like they had to wait for another order to finish to bring them all out at once. The fries didn't come out with the wings. We had to wait another 10 minutes to get hot but horribly burnt fries. The fries were hard and had any internal potatoe cooked right out. We are locals to the area and were hoping this could be our neighborhood bar but unfortunately will not be returning. read more
