Still love this place. Decent food, some of it great. Really reasonable drink prices. Amazing views and music all day and night. Clearly the go to place in Marathon. The clear tables but you order from the bar. Come early for a table. It also had shelter from rain and wind if needed. Doesn't rain much in the key winters. Can get windy.

Sorry A$$ bartender!!! When you visit I hope she isn't your bartender!!!

Bartender was terrible, not really sure what her problem was...: sh$t on our evening for sure. If she doesn't like her job, move on!!!

Mudslides. Get ya some.

My first time at Dockside was Summer of 1985. Small bar with indoor and outdoor seating right on the water. Cold beer, good food, live music, friendly people. It was a community that knew each other and cared about each other. My friend's dad lived in Marathon and this was his hangout. I made several more trips over the next 10 years or so but hadn't been since around 2000. Until this year. Family Thanksgiving Trip with my wife and siblings-in-laws. I requested a stop here as we headed down A1A to Key West. They obliged. Just like i remembered it, especially the inside bar. The patio/dock has greatly expanded with a large stage and more seating. But the view and the feel is the same. The look was the same. The Mudslides were the same, except they no longer serve them in pitchers. I introduced my family to them and they enjoyed the cold, creamy goodness. We all had a hearty lunch and moved on. Don't all of you go here at once and turn it into a tourist trap. But slide in on the down-low and enjoy a true Keys experience.

The service is really good especially considering the quantity of people who come in! Great spot that has live music, full bar, and a decent menu with something everyone will like. Good spot to bring people from out of town.

The views are great but the service is lacking. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp, the wings, the calamari, a blackened fish sandwich and a cold brew. I love the self service of going to the bar to get what you need but they acted like it was a chore to assist and then bitched when they only got a 15% tip. The ambience was great. The live music fun. The food was "meh" at best and the service was terrible.

Thinnest piece of Mahi on the cheapest hamburger bun for 16.95... charge me 22 and get me more than 3.5oz of meat

The bartenders are super nice.... however... no servers. Not a place to take a family for dinner unless you like waiting on your table yourself. And the food was simply bad.. . Tacos had minimal meat, and my fish sandwich was a joke. 1/4" thick piece of Mahi on the cheapest hamburger bun possible. (I attached a picture). It's not photo shopped. I wish I would have took it when it first came out. Had to go to bar to order, go to bar to get drinks, clean my own table. Charge me 20.00 for a bad fish sandwich instead of 16.00 and hire a server I average 4.6 on my reviews... so u have to be pretty bad to get a 2 star from me. The bartenders again... very nice... saved them from getting 1 star. Lots of great places to eat in marathon so maybe this place is the local "drink spot"... so I'll try it for late night adult drinks and see if they cater to that crowd.

All of the bartenders are the most amazing bartenders I've ever experienced. Nikki, Erin, Sheila, Alaina, Brijette, and most importantly generator. Austin's cool too but the ladies of dockside are the glue that hold it together. In my opinion the best bar to hang out at if you're looking for good service and amazing music in marathon.

Ask the Community - Dockside Bar and Grill

Do they have gluten free options? Thanks

You could get the burger without a bun or the street tacos without the tortillas (they have steak and chicken). They also serve prime rib one night a week (I think Fridays).

Is there live music?

Yes but I'm not sure when. When I was there they were setting up before sunset.

Can I bring my fish catche and you cook it for me?

I don't know. Call and ask them.

The walk-up window had a line of customers forming and was serving Cuban coffee. Large overed patio on the side of the building, but too damn hot today to risk a heat stroke. We chose the comfort of the inside with a/c where the cop was eating. Six tables in front of the food counter with images of traditional Cuban meals wrapped on the walls. The fresh food in the display case looked amazing, so had to go with the Spanish Omelette and soooo glad I did. Sat in the dining area sipping my delicious Cuban coffee made with Bustelo beans, which provided a strong dark roasted blend. Awaited about ten minutes for my highly anticipated omelette. After finishing my coffee, we headed out onto the road with the omelette which smelled fantastic. Peered at my breakfast in delight which was filled with onions, potatoes and Spanish sausage slices. Each bite of the fluffy egg omelette had those thinly cut sausages providing an unexpected hint of spice. There was a bathroom outside for public use including another one inside which has basic decor, a paper towel dispenser and a good lock.

I loved the vibe of this place - think tiki bar with a beachside vibe and setting but then also a BBQ joint thrown in for good measure. The menu is extensive - BBQ, seafood, sushi, bar food, tacos, etc. The menu is huge! The happy hour is pretty good too (speciality drinks for like $8 and decently priced app specials). One very cool thing, this place sits on a marina and my family saw manatees chilling out there. We literally were only a couple feet from them and watched them float around while we are out food. So cool. Live music is offered during most nights. Some advice, get here early because this place fills up fast! I think it is quite the haunt for locals and tourists alike. We would go here again in a heartbeat. The food was pretty good, portions were perfectly sized and prices were very reasonable, especially when compared to other places found in the Florida Keys.

Herbie's Bar & Chowder House in Marathon has been operating under that name since 1963, with roots…read moregoing back to the 1940s as Maggie's Chowder House and later Fishnet's. It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.
