3.5 stars! Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken is a popular spot in Chicago known for their delicious donuts and fried chicken. During my visit, I tried their Candied Maple Bacon and Pistachio-Meyer Lemon donuts. The Candied Maple Bacon donut had a nice texture - the donut was fluffy and not too dense. The Pistachio-Meyer Lemon donut had a nice citrus flavor, but the pistachio flavor was a bit muted and the texture was also slightly dry. Overall, while Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken is worth a visit for their variety of donut flavors it's definitely on the sweeter side and I ended up not being able to finish my donut. I wish I had ordered one of their sandwiches to balance it out - this probably would've been the way to go! read more

This is literally my donut spot of choice when I'm in the Chi!! The donuts are big sizes, delicious and the customer service is consistently stellar! The space inside is small, definitely not somewhere. You can sit and eat comfortably but you can definitely eat outside or grab it to go. This place is cute little old fashioned style donut shop! Very clean and efficient in service. Limited seating inside but has covered seating available out front as well. I ordered their pumpkin latte, blueberry crumbcake, and original chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was tasty and way better than expected from a donut shop. I would pass on the bbq sauce as it has a very strong vinegar base that seems to more of a marinade than dipping sauce. The coffe lacked flavor and I am one who doesn't want to taste the coffee. The blueberry crumbcake stole the show. It's shaped like a plain looking donut with blueberries oozing from its side and it tasted just as good as it looked. read more

One of my main goals while traveling is to find something tasty that's walkable from where I'm staying. Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken was right down the street from my hotel in Chicago, so I took advantage of being up early due to time zone differences and stopped in for a Boston creme donut and an iced mocha. The employee who took my order was kind and friendly, and asked if I wanted chocolate syrup in my iced mocha. She said they normally put it in the mocha, but apparently a customer told her it didn't need it and that it was too sweet. I'm glad she asked, because I definitely didn't need any more sugar on top of the donut I was ordering too. If you want chocolate syrup in your mocha, let them know. (I didn't think it needed it!) The Boston Creme Donut was incredible. The best one I've ever had. The filling wasn't that overly sweet, pudding stuff you normally get - it was a bit tangy, almost like a cream cheese situation that I loved. The glaze was perfect and not stale, and the donut itself was fluffy and fresh. I'm still thinking about this donut, honestly. They also serve fried chicken sandwiches, and yes - you can get one on a donut. I paid about $10 total for the drink, donut, and tip, and I'd happily do it again! read more

When it comes to Chicago donuts, IMHO no one compares to DoRites. Conveniently located in Streeterville across from Northwestern Memorial ER, their donut disappointed me 2x times. Their Boston creme, the donut fab, the creme...I must have missed it. I tried it twice. Sadly, the company failed to respond to me about it. So, it's apple time now. Michigan Apple Fritter. I guess a donut shop (who puts a deep-fried chicken breast on a glazed donut) does not exactly boast nutritional facts, but it would be nice. Here's the deal. I tore a small piece off this donut. It was insane. Delecatable. It took everything in me to not continue to eat it. Instead, I cut it into small pieces and froze them for treats later. Boring, Elle, I know. These donuts blew me away. I love donuts and definitely know that all donuts are not made equal. I was a party of four and we cut each donut into fourths so we could try all the donuts we purchased. The Apple fritter changed the game for me. It had a nice crust, but super light and not at all dense on the inside. Definitely not overly sweet and just perfectly balanced. I wouldn't typically pick an Apple fritter as favorite but as mentioned above - complete game changer. These were one of my favorites. The rest of the donuts were just as delicious. We had these delivered to us for a work event, and they were delicious! As far as I know, the ordering and delivery process went smoothly. The doughnuts arrived in great condition with partitions between them to stop any flavors from mingling. I have been on the hunt for great sour cream/old fashioned doughnuts, and these were the best I've had in years. They flowered perfectly, didn't taste of the oil they were fried in, had a delicious, not-too-sweet, silky glaze, and a crisp texture on the outside and soft center. I had two and almost regretted it. They are HUGE. In my defense, they were free, and I'm on a work trip. I'm not sure if the old fashioned doughnuts are actually made with sour cream because the taste isn't precisely what I was looking for, BUT the texture and flavor were still five stars. The seating inside is extremely limited and all high tops. A few low tables outside though. Can't speak to the restrooms, but there is a ramp a little ways to the left of the entrance. I saw that this place offered gluten free donuts and had to check them out. We came around 10:15 am on a Sunday and had about 10-15 minute wait. They had a gluten free cinnamon sugar and a chocolate frosting option- I went with the cinnamon sugar. It was so delicious I went back in line to get more to take home. By the time I went back, the line was only a few minutes long. Outside of having gluten free donuts, there are plenty of other donut options along with options to make donut breakfast sandwiches. The place smelled amazing and would have wanted to try a donut chicken sandwich if the chicken would have been gluten free. Definitely check this place out! My favorite donut shop in Chicago. Do-Rite was opened in 2014 by two chefs, who had previously been working at a 2 Michelin Star restaurant. Despite their high brow background, Do-Rite prides themselves on doing the classics right (with a few fancy twists), along with chicken sandwiches and coffee. They correctly have 6 locations. Upon entry, I was greeted with genuine smiles. This location is small, but has bar seating as well as a few tables outside. I got an Iced Latte with oat milk, which was on the weak side, but very good for a donut shop. Prices are reasonable, in fact, I think I only paid $10 for 6 donuts because it was after 2pm. My favorite overall was the Valrhona Chocolate Cake, which was melt-in-your-mouth moist, with a delicately crisp exterior and a coat of chocolate ganache. The Pistachio-Meyer Lemon was a close second, with fresh flavors and a lovely sweet/salt balance. You also must order an Old Fashioned; I loved their Whisky-Caramel rendition. 10/10. read more
