My brother has been taking me to Do-Rite while on our way to my rehab session at Shirley Ryan nearby as a treat. Let me tell you, I have never had a bad breakfast sandwich! Online ordering it super easy and pick up is always swift. I usually get the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich. Staff is always friendly ready to assist me when I arrive. I will be enjoying more visits for the remainder of my therapy sessions. read more

Faced with more options than I expected and the stomach of only one person, I got the Havana Latte (latte w/ condensed milk), a French Cruller and a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie donut. Everything here is very well priced, with the large iced latte being shy of $5 and the donuts being only $3.5 each. (It's hard to tell in the photo, but the cruller was massive and the Strawberry one was alright too.) I loved the latte and the French Cruller! Really hit the spot. As for the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie donut, it was too sweet for my taste. I think you really have to love jam to enjoy this donut. The vibes are Do-Rite were great; the staff and even customers were friendly, and there was ample seating outside the establishment. EDIT: I went back a couple days later to try their Buttermilk Donut and chicken sandwich. The former was overly sweet, and the latter was totally unmemorable. read more

In creativity 5 stars, flavor 5 stars, service 5 stars. Ambiance, well it's a small place with not a lot of seating. The staff super busy super nice and friendly. But the idea that a doughnut place can think outside the box to provide doughnuts all day and other great foods to allow them to serve the customers all day for lunch and breakfast well that's a home run for me. I think the doughnuts were amazing. We did the "Underground Doughnut Tour" good tour great tour guide. But decided to try the chicken sandwich. I mean they were voted top 5 best chicken sandwich in Chicago so gotta see for myself. The BBQ Crispy Chicken Sandwich was very good, really Crispy, lots of BBQ sauce. Not sure why but I assumed it would have been seasoned vs sauce. I mean I would used bbq sauce on practically anything. But did a chicken sandwich I guess I would assume it would be better to just put the sauce on myself. So in the end it's just a pretty good sandwich. Decent fries, real cut French fries. All the doughnuts tried could easily stand by themselves as a highlight to this place. The chocolate old fashioned really nice. And I'm pretty all that I tried there isn't a doughnut that's not top notch flavor. read more

SUCH good donuts!! The pumpkin old fashioned was both our favorites, and the chicken sandwich was a top item my sister and I had while visiting Chicago. My favorite donuts from my consulting trips to Chicago. I don't live in Chicago but wanted to live vicariously through my friends i sent the a special delivery as a surprise A HUGE HIT!!!!! The shop substituted to very important donuts - Boston, cream and chocolate chocolate dipped acing them with an additional fritter and some kind of cinnamon raised doughnut, which was not on my list. I was told that Do Rite Donuts has the best donuts in town. I can't say that's definitely the case but they'd be hard to beat. The old-fashioned donut is heavenly and was the highlight of my visit. Buttermilk makes everything more delicious. Honorable mention to the sausage and egg sandwich though. It was solid if unspectacular though the brioche bun was tasty. I will be back. read more

Do-Rite Donuts was a place my boyfriend has been wanting to eat breakfast at. Luckily, it was walking distance from our hotel! We were able to grab one coffee, two donuts, and two spicy chicken sandwiches for breakfast. The donuts were really good and so was the coffee! The spicy chicken sandwiches weren't spicy and needed more sauce but it was still very good. The workers were also so nice and made our food so fast! We loved our experience. read more

I came here for the donuts only. When I'm in Chicago, trying at least one new donut shop is custom. Of course, I have my favorites, but I'm still willing to try others. I am a yeast girl, plain and simple. However, I always try both because there have been instances where a shop's cake donut beat out their yeast donut. The gentleman at the counter was super helpful and helped me pick out one yeast and one cake to sample. For the yeast, I went with the traditional vanilla. For the cake, I went with the Meyer Lemon Pistachio. On my way to get lunch, I decided to pinch off a little of each. The yeast was not bad, but it was a little disappointing. Too little glaze and too much dough made for a denser, drier bite. The Meyer Lemon Pistachio was the star and a win for the team cake. The brightness of the Meyer lemon, coupled with the butteriness of the pistachio, made for a winning combination. The cake donut was pillowy and moist, and the ratio of glaze to donut to topping was ideal. I was sad that the execution of the simpler donut was subpar. The flawless execution of the more complex of the two was certainly a welcome surprise and quite impressive. Knowing that the cake is where it shines, I'll make it when ordering here. read more

I love this place! I ordered donuts, chicken sandwiches, and fries. The sandwiches were AMAZING!!! The fries were good and the donuts were unique. I would suggest trying this place they cook your food as you order so if you don't want to wait order ahead of time. The staff team was friendly and eager to serve. They were pretty busy when I went so again ordering ahead is a good idea if you don't like to wait. I actually love waiting on my order as it gives me an idea of the quality and consistency of the restaurant. read more

Yum, they have very good donut! We got the glazed and chocolate glazed. Usually the glazed options are cheaper than the other style but this place cost more, 2.75. Worth it though. The donut is nice, soft, airy. Surprisingly bigger size than regular donut. And the best part is no greasy aftertaste. We also got the pumpkin old fashioned. Yummy but on the heavier side. Coffee is $1 if you buy a donut. Count me in. The staff is friendly and helpful. They take card. You can sit inside. They also have outdoor seats. Chicagoans are different- we see lots have iced drink sitting outside in the cold. read more

This place shows up on lots of best donut lists. Their old fashioned and other creative donuts are worth a try. I'm partial to apple fritters. The are chicken sandwiches and tenders on the menu too, but a donut + coffee combo is hard to beat. They even have clean unlocked bathrooms to wash your sticky hands! read more

Fantastic donuts! The texture of each donut was excellent with crunchy edges and soft interior. The pumpkin old fashioned was probably my favorite out of the 4 I tried. The spicy chicken sandwich was also delicious! It wasn't very spicy but the chicken was fried well. It's nice that you can order the chicken during all of the hours they are open if you are ever craving fried chicken at 9am. The shop is quite small inside but has a few seats inside as well as a larger number of outside tables. read more

Happened to be on a donut tour and this was our last stop. We were able to sample two donuts and my favorite one was the blueberry one. Our tour guide also recommended the chicken here and so we decided to have an early lunch. Went inside and the line was long, already towards the back by the soda machine. Its super tiny inside so we had to maneuver ourselves through people. It took about 30 minutes for us to get to the ordering counter but it was worth it. The cashier was very friendly and patient. I ordered one chicken sandwich and one 3 piece order of tenders with ranch - to go. Went to sit at one of the stools by the pickup window and everyone was cramming this tiny area. There was some type of confusion with orders and there were a few upset people there. I only waited about 15 minutes for my order and mine came out correct. The food was good, but in this case we didn't like the chicken sandwich. It was way too dry and had no flavor. On the other hand, the tenders were one of the best tenders I have ever had. They were juicy, flavorful, and had just the right amount of breading. Mmmm so good! If I am ever in the area again, the tenders from here will make me return! read more

Small place in downtown Chicago. The inside is pretty small but there's tables inside and outside. Parking is challenging like any downtown area. We ordered a lemonade, a spicy chicken sandwich, and French fries which were all really good (5/5). They're weren't too greasy like other places I've had so that was a plus. We also got half a dozen of donuts. We went around 12:30pm on a Thursday and they still had a good amount of donuts left (except the pistachio lemon Meyer one). We got two of the old fashioned original, old fashioned chocolate, old fashioned pumpkin spice, pumpkin spice cake, and raspberry. All the old fashioned donuts were amazing (5/5). Haven't tried the other ones yet. I also love the box the donuts come in, very sturdy (like a pizza box) and perfect for traveling. I'll definitely be coming back if I'm ever in Chicago again. read more

Do-Rite Donuts can do no wrong. We love to pop into this locations after having appointments nearby. They are cashless, so no need to bring your dollar bills. The service is always quick, and I like that there are tables outside where you can enjoy your food during the warm weather months. I love the Apple fritter, the cruller, and the pistachio Meyer lemon donut! But, if I'm being honest, I love breakfast sandwiches and chicken sandwiches way more than donuts. The bacon, egg, and cheese on brioche is out of this world, and I also love to make a chicken, egg, and cheese on brioche too. A breakfast favorite for sure! Please, please start carrying decaf coffee, and I will love you even more. If you're nearby this Do-Right, this is the superior donut shop on the block to check out! read more

These are some of the best donuts out there. I can see why they're so well-rated. Blueberry was to die for. Just enough blueberry filling b it not so much that it oozes out everywhere. visited this spot from out of town like the prior reviewer - discovered this place on Reddit. Got their yeast glazed donut, as well as their buttermilk glazed old-fashioned donut. pricing was higher than i expected, but both tasted pretty darn good. the yeast donut had a nice bite to it, but still soft. the old-fashion was pretty darn tasty, too. i would return and recommend it to friends - would be curious to try their chicken. read more

If you want a quick, cheap and good breakfast, I would recommend coming here. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich along with a vanilla bean donut and a danish cream cheese donut. The danish donut was definitely my favorite donut, it was the right amount of fluffy, sweet and creamy. I also ordered an iced Havana latte which was delicious. This little spot is located directly across from Northwestern Hospital. We've been there several times over the years and the food is consistent. Unfortunately, this last time our server had a real Chip on his shoulder. His attitude was condescending and unkind. I failed to understand That the chicken sandwich on a donut could only be made on a plain glazed doughnut. His response was that the love is forbidden between the chicken breast and the apple cobbler and they are never to meat. Maybe it was his attempt at being cheeky, but it was poorly received And not appreciated. Our interaction went downhill from there. Needless to say as much as I like their donuts, and as much as I like their chicken sandwich, his service left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Wow I get the hype now! The young man who took our order was super kind and I like how he shows you the order after to make sure it's correct. My boyfriend and I both got the chicken sandwiches ( I got regular and he got the spiny one) and we both got donuts (I got the chocolate glazed and he got the Boston cream). Everything was so yummy! Great food! Wasn't sure what to expect but we went there on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Very small space with not much seating. Clean bathrooms and cool air conditioning great for getting out of the heat. I had the spicy sandwich it was great! Perfect spice and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Big sandwich but not too big. The bbq sandwich was also great and had lots of sauce. The maple bbq donut and specialty cherry donut was also so good. The place has a ton of awards and it definitely shows in the food. Staycation downtown and we stopped in for breakfast. Eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we got egg sandwiches AND donuts. But they were still good over the next two days. Service was fine. Could tell they were a little ready to get you in and out. Maybe we just missed a big rush. 9/12/25 Dear Sir or Madam Donut, The time of year has come again for me to hope and dream that you will return your filled Jack O' Lantern donuts to the Halloween menu. I have a special childhood memory of my grandfather bringing a box of Jack O' Lantern cookies from Jarosch Bakery to a family event. Your magical donuts brought those flavors and emotions rushing back to me in the midst of a costume party some years ago. We catered Do-Rite mini donuts for our wedding of 230 guests, and they were an absolute hit! I had always dreamed of having mini donuts as a wedding dessert, and since Do-Rite is my favorite Chicago donut, it was the perfect choice. Pam made the process seamless--she was so helpful, responsive, and accommodating, even when we made a couple of last-minute changes. Since we ordered minis, we doubled the order, per the suggestion, to make sure everyone was covered, but we ended up having plenty of leftovers. Guests loved the variety, and we especially appreciated that Do-Rite offered gluten-free and vegan options as full-sized donuts so no one was left out. The service, the donuts, and the overall experience was great--we couldn't have been happier and will definitely keep coming back long after the wedding! read more

Excellent! I frequent Do-Rite on Erie and I gotta say I'm impressed. Every time I go there the mouth watering chicken sandwiches seem to get better. Try the Spicy 31st Street Chicken sandwich it's to die for!!! The donuts are great and if the owner Harris is there there's no telling what he will come up with like the Strawberry Romanoff or Key Lime Pie donut, two of my favorites. The atmosphere there is great too. There's always great music going and you can really feel the vibe of the employees from what's on the radio. Whether it's rocking out to the Grateful Dead during the day or Stevie Wonder at night I always feel welcome there and I'm not afraid to call myself a regular at all. This place is my new obsession and I am probably there more than most of the staff lol. But seriously if you're ever in the Streeterville area do right by yourself and visit the staff there and be sure Harris makes your donut and Tim makes your chicken sandwich. If I go there and don't see either of them I'll be sad, but I can be assured that whoever is working there I'm gonna get the best chicken and donut experience ever.
