She sized my boot perfectly and patiently answered all of my questions about skis. She offered valuable insight and clearly knows her stuff! I found the perfect boots within my budget and skis for a reasonable price. She also helped me get my skis mounted! Literally made this experience so easy and helpful. Someone give this gal a raise because this was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had!

We asked a salesperson if they were going out of business because the store now resembles a Kmart on its last legs (she said no). My wife tried to buy some hiking shoes while we were there - eventually the salesperson (who tried to give good service) said "I can't help you anymore." We left empty handed and went to Scheels where the variety, service and prices were excellent (we immediately got what we needed). REI has become a victim of bean-counting business wonks who don't care about the outdoor community. Two can play this game: Cancel my loyalty points: I'll look my outdoor gear elsewhere.

Their pricing is pretty standard but they do offer regular sales. It's nice to have an alternative to REI and DICK'S that offers brands and a different selection. They also have a bike and ski shop for repairs and tuning.

No idea where to go... at each entrance there are service stations where you may purchase your items or ask questions. I asked where to get my fishing license and the young man cheerfully gave me precise instructions. Once I arrived at customer service I was greeted warmly and in less than 5 minutes I had my license. I chose 1 year but you can choose from a good variety of options up to three years! 5 star experience... While I walked about I was asked by a floor monitor if they could assist me with anything... I asked T question and they responded kindly good people in the store. I got some Iowa beef sticks... they also had good variety of jerky... that meaty juicy type not dried. I asked AI what are the top 5 most popular lures that work best in Utah and the store had all of them. I took them, a great Nike T shirt and my beefsteak at the cashiers near the entrance, paid and bid good day. I'd shop this place again.

(I had several questions) 10 minutes in golf department. Same story. 20 minutes in BBQ and the two guys there seemed more worried about the display looking great than offering help. I've always loved Scheels but I am very disappointed with the current lake of service or lack of. I hope things improve! (I only spent $250)

Hooray for the local guy!…read more Kirkham's has always been one of my favorite outdoors stops, and there are some pretty compelling reasons why. First of all, they employ people who are passionate about the outdoors and who, generally speaking, know what they are talking about. There's no push for corporate outdoorsness--I've often felt like I was chatting with a buddy when talking things over with their staff. Second, I like the location. Just off of State Street near the 33rd South exit of I-15. Nice. Third, they carry some quality stuff. The lightweight, high-quality, not El Cheapo stuff is their specialty, and they do it well. Lots of it is set up or out for display so you can get a good look at what you're after. The biggest reason I'm a fan is those Springbar tents. If you're not familiar, a Springbar tent is the greatest family/Scout troop/group tent known to man. They're immortal. They're super easy to set up. They weigh about a half a ton, but they're a tent you buy and pass down to your kids. For real. A few other bonus features: they have a decent selection of climbing gear, they have a tent repair area, they have random tent material (seam sealer, no-see-um mesh, tent stakes, etc.) and a nice book and map selection. Also, I dig the dog hiking gear and the clothing sections.

It's also possible we no longer have the same numbers of people who actually backpack, and do backcountry activities, and want quality gear. I don't know. I've been coming here for 30+ years. I've spent many thousands of dollars. I don't go much anymore, so the dramatic decline in stock threw me off. For me, it's because I bought the kind of gear in my 20's and 30's that will last forever, and I'm in my 60's now. I have a reason not to do so much backpacking. In the day, the aisles were narrow and the place was filled to overflowing with everything. They had the regular brands, but they had nearly every one of the esoteric, specialty brands too. Today, outside of North Face, nothing in quality sleeping bags. It looks like a place heading out of business. I was there to look for shirts. In the day, they had as much nice outdoor styled clothing as you find total clothing in the big box store. There just wasn't much to choose from today. Walking around you could see the empty walls that held shoes, boots, and similar. I'm so sad. I assume there will always be a market for the car camping gear that Springbar tent owners are going to need. The Springbar tents are great. I don't own one, although I bought both my backpacking and car camping tents there.

Over the past month the service has definitely improved. The most recent time I was here I actually got help from two friendly team members, one of them the greeter who actually greeted me. Been looking for a pair of yoga shorts with pockets that don't feel like there's a drawstring cinching your waist because let's be honest you're more likely to work out longer when you're comfortable not when you feel cute. Found a buttery soft pair of shorts that I purchased that have a super comfortable waistband. Just wish they had two side pockets for phone, tiny wallet, keys like the bike shorts I got from another popular brand. Apparently there are pockets in some of the longer hemmed styles but i run warm and prefer shorter shorts to help stay cool

Oh, what can I say... I went into Dick's to purchase a set of golf clubs for my 8 year old. After…read morebeing in the store for about 30 minutes and no one offering any help, I decided we would get several little things we needed and head over to the PGA Superstore. When we go to the checkout line I told my girls they could each pick out a ball from the small bin of balls. I then bent down to look at something on a shelf. I heard an associate very rudely tell my girls that the balls needed to go back in the bin. Not knowing what to say they started to apologize and the associate repeated "balls in bin!" My girls did as requested and walked over to me. I found it extremely rude and unprofessional that the only interaction we had with any one of service was someone scolding my daughters for holding balls that I said I would buy them ‍. The store was nearly empty and I can understand why. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend doing any business with this store, unless you want to have your kids leave crying. .
