Most recently they did a bunch of work on my car and handled the costs with the part distributor after the part broke. The owner here is real professional but the women in the front has a very NASTY attitude. She made me feel very uncomfortable the whole time. Although I had to leave and get a part for the car the job took way longer than it was suppose to. Ended up waiting here for almost 6hrs for a transmission oil change. I recently took my Miata here for their Hunter Road Force balancing and was truly blown away by how nice and accommodating the entire staff was. Don't go to this place. They try to rip you off. My car was repaired at this shop on 9/17/2020 because the battery was died. They charged me for $220 for tighten battery cable and changed a fuse in my car. After I drove my car for 5 days (9/22/2020), my car would not start again. I went back to same shop again on 9/23/2020 at 8am and dropped off my car. I got a called at 3:47pm, I talked to the owner and he told me that my car's alternator needs to be placed cost $600 and they will charge $300 to replace the alternator. I don't know what the big fuss is over this place. I'm not one to complain, nor do I rarely write reviews. But I must say one thing, this place is slow as heck and way over priced!! I'm not sure if the other reviewers are friends of Dave (the owner) or just got lucky that day and what appeared to be fast service was in actuality just another job done, perhaps a slow day for them. The service here is no different than any other shop I've visited and again let me stress they are slow. I waited almost 4 hours to have an alternator changed which let me add I left my car at the shop the day before, so there's no reason it couldn't be done the following morning before I stopped by. This happened when I initially had the alternator installed here, waited hours. Also Dave seems like he rushes you unless you are someone he really is close to. That's not how you do business. I won't rant more here, take it from me this place is nothing special. Don't get over hyped by the other reviewers, if they are actually real reviews that is. Do yourself a favor and invest time into another shop which would probably surpass this one. UPDATE - I am home without my car still, why? Because the alternator still hasn't come in yet! Over 5 hours waiting and I'm stuck waiting another day for an alternator to be installed. Worst experience I ever had at an auto mechanic. We have taken our Honda Element to Dave for the last 6 years. The last two times, once for our yearly maintenance inspection in early December, and then in early June because we were making a long distance trip to Minneapolis (1300 miles). We brought it in to have all things checked. Both times major issues were missed because of sloppy mechanic work. In December after our inspection we complained our car didn't seem to be starting the usual way the mechanic told us "oh just give it a bit of gas as you turn the key". We drove out to NJ for Christmas and our starter broke we were delayed 3 days while a local mechanic sent for a replacement. The most recent time we got to Minneapolis to find our rear brake pads had 1mm left on them!! We could have been on Route 80 driving 70 miles an hour without brakes!!! Dave replaced our front brake pads a year and a half earlier when we brought it in before the trip and said the rear brake pads were 5 years old but were ok. Dave is a nice guy but his team is not careful enough to be trusted go somewhere else. read more

Had a great experience here today. Stopped at another mechanic shop first to get my brakelights checked out, as they had both gone out. The first shop wouldn't even take a look at the lights because I hadn't made an appointment, but Dave at DJL immediately took a look, and had the lights replaced in less than 15 minutes. A good friend of mine had recommended Dave after I told him that my Jeep Liberty is losing power after getting warm and that I fear that my transmission is on its way out. As one with very bad and painful experience with auto mechanics, I was very reluctant to bring my Jeep for repairs, but I had no choice. I was bracing myself for the worth scenario and playing number games in my head guessing if repairs will cost $1,500 or more. Dave called me the next day and to my surprise advised me that he has replaced a sensor and that my Jeep is ready. MY BILL WAS $143.15 I know that we should take honesty for granted and it must be the norm and not the exception. ... But unfortunately it is not, especially not with auto mechanics. Over the past two years we've taken our (old) car to DLJ a few times - with good results. The have fixed some things - the price was normal. You may have good results. But the past two experiences have resulted in me never wanting to return. One Our car was not performing so well so we dropped it off in the morning to see if they could look at it. By the end of the day we called and they had not looked at it - sorry we were too busy today. We called the next day "oh we haven't really looked at it - maybe it needs a tune up - we will call you back" No call back - I call back late in the day - repeatedly and hear that we probably need a tune up but they aren't sure and it will cost near $500 Day three - still inconclusive. We drive the car away. Three days with no estimated answer feels ridiculous. Even when they were busy, as they claimed. Two In March (8 months ago) our car would not start. We get it towed there. They replace the alternator. Yesterday my car wouldn't start. The diagnosis - my alternator failed. While there may be some guarantee on that part - I was deep in Queens and had to get it taken care of. But a part (especially that one) failing 8 months later feels weird. (and was expensive) So I'd say I was disappointed and won't go back. My experience here is highly subjective. Mechanical things fail. But it was those two experiences back to back that soured me. read more

I was recommended to DLJ Auto by my other mechanic at Nocera Auto because Nocera doesn't do balancing and alignments. I met with Dave when I dropped the car off in the morning. As promised, he followed up with me that afternoon to let me know the car would be ready for pick-up by time I was done with work. When I picked the car up, Dave fully explained what was done, showed me the machine used and showed me a diagram of the results. I appreciated that he took the time to explain everything to me.
