Now I am out of a car and I have to pay someone to put my engine back Then also proceed to tell me it's not a big deal and time is money so I have to pay a $250 diagnostic fee! DO NOT take your car to Bobby's Auto Repair because they are SCAMMERS.. I went to Bobby's Auto Repair with Check Engine light on (oxygen sensor code). First they told me the car needs a tune-up, not a new oxygen sensor. When that did not solve the problem, they told me they told me the car did need an oxygen sensor and they replaced it. They charged me $1,300 for the repair. I drove the car 30 miles and the check engine light came back on. I took the car back to Bobby's Auto Repair and then they told the car needs an oxygen sensor and another part and that they have to charge me more money. I told the head scammer (some guy named Efeez) that I want a refund for the unnecessary tune up parts that I paid for before I spend any more money and he would not refund the money. So I ended up taking my car to the dealer for repair and I filed a fraud complaint with NYC 311 against Bobby's Auto Repair. Since they have two locations on Coney Island Avenue I recommend that you stay away from both locations. read more

Don't trust these guys! If you have to go to them, make sure that you take before & after photos of the situation. For me, I had to change out my tires due to a single flat tire. I wanted to buy my own tires (I should have) because I found a great price online. I left my car with them and they said that my car originally had three matching Pirelli tires and one odd-brand tire - it didn't. When I bought the car all the tires were matched. They took my money to purchase 4 new tires, purchased them, and only changed out 3 out of the four. I saw the fourth sitting in the shop without a rim inside it, and they swore that it wasn't mine (but they had to special order this particular tire - so it was!). For the fourth tire that they didn't replace, they used one of my 3 (non-flat) old tires from my car and tried to convince me that it was new. They swore up and down that the tire was new, but it shared the same information as the old tires that were being replaced (while the obviously new tires all shared the same info/designations). They gave me the crappy off brand tire as a spare and said that, "it doesn't make a difference" when I asked for the spare Pirelli that I paid for - obviously it did make a difference (about $145.00). These guys are crooks and no one should use their service!! read more

My experience with Bobby's was strange but decent. My car was accelerating slowly and misfiring and I hadn't changed my spark plugs in sometime, so I figured I might as well call some places to get some prices. I called the dealership but obviously they charged me over $1000 for an Engine Tune Up+Oil Change and Filter and a Brake fluid flush. So I called this place Bobby's for an estimate and they gave me a good price ($450) for the same services, which is more than 50% off the price the dealership gave me. Keep in mind I already know the dealership is technically more reliable than auto shops but I just didn't have that kind of money to spend at the moment. So I brought my car to Bobby's and everything went okay I dropped off the car around 4:30pm and they called me around 7:30pm saying it was ready. I could tell they didn't fake the job likes some other shops, because I can feel the difference in the way my engine was running and the brakes felt less mushy and more responsive than they did before. Also one of the mechanics (don't remember his name) did an impressive job on cleaning out my cabin air filter cartridge because it had never been replaced since the car was purchased, it was extremely dirty and I did tip him for his efforts. However, my check engine light did turn on a few days later after I brought my car to them. When I checked the obd scanner to see what was wrong the code was P0171 which was a faulty oxygen sensor. I had just changed all my oxygen sensors about 2-3 months before bringing my car to them so there's no way it stopped working due to age. My guess is they unplugged the sensor so my check engine light would come on, assuming I would bring the car back to them. I could be wrong but I always hear of shops trying to pull tactics like these. So instead of paying for another sensor I just had someone clean it and plug it back in, and of course it was working perfectly fine again. So I'll say Bobby's does get the job done, but if you have a better option take it, even if that means spend a little more money. Better safe than sorry!! read more

Come to replace 2 lugnuts which broke when changing tire. Place across the street told me I needed a new hub and it would cost $225. Hub was 100% fine. 2 lug nuts cost $6 and take approx 30 mins to change with proper equipment. Bobby's changed all 5 for $125. Did they still make a good profit? Yes. Did they try to steal from me? There are many car mechanics on Coney Island Avenue but they often feel too crowded and small for me to even get my car looked at. Each time I've gone to Bobby's, I've been able to pull right in. They are understanding and offer fair prices (in my experience). I'm usually able to pick the car up in 2-3 hours. I will definitely come back. read more

I am kind of shocked because, until my last experience, I would have given this place 5 stars. I had been coming here to get my oil changed, fix a tire, or replace a battery for the past two years. Nothing substantial but everyone was always friendly and the prices were reasonable. This past time, however, the mechanic called me and told me "your front rotor is shot, your rear rotor needs to be replaced soon, and both brakes are at 35%." By way of background, I had all of that replaced less than a year ago and the car had racked up only 10,000 miles. I told him I wanted a second opinion and took it another shop, asked them to check the brakes, and guess what: guy told me my brakes were fine, and that they looked basically brand new! Nothing wrong with either rotor and the brake pads weren't worn down. Needless to say, I am not coming back to this place. I don't want to whine about my experience with Bobby's Auto Repair Center, but I feel so frustrated by the treatment received by my last two visits at this business. Today, after waiting about 45 minutes to replace the battery in my car, the mechanic that was supposed to take care of me, switches to working on a different customer car that arrived well after. There was confusion and a total lack of communication between the shop manager and the mechanic, as to which battery was to be used for my car, not to mention Bobby himself ( the manager) lying to me that it was my fault for being jumped over. Truly avoidable and frustrating. Not to mention that a month before I visited the same repair shop for a check engine light on my dashboard, and after being charged $125 by Bobby, the problem reoccurred a day later, resulting in an expensive visit to the car dealership. This is possibly the best auto mechanic shop I had a problem I brought my car to Mavis they put Power Steering fluid in my car where the brake fluid supposed to go and I lost my brakes. NOBODY wants to take responsibility they told my to bring it back they flushed the system they said 4 times and I have to get new hoses master ab system but they can't do the work I have to bring it to Ford. My cousin recommended Bobby's they told me all they had to do was flush the system and replace the master cylinder. It only costs me $350 instead of 1500 to 2000 . They get 10 stars from me and my car was fixed the next day. I will be bringing my car there from now on and I live in Nassau County and they're in Brooklyn. I cannot express how wonderful the staff here is. They are so honest and the mechanics are so skilled. I had a problem with my Subaru wrx in which i dropped a screw into the air conditioning vent. These guys got the screw out in 2 minutes. The dealerships wanted a massive amount of money to take the dash apart. The staff at Bobby's were able to get the screw out in 2 minutes and were so honest. They hardly wanted to charge me. I will be going to them for all the maintenance on my car. This is one of those workshop i would say not totally reliable. This is workshop where the prices can be unreasonable , wait alot to get car fixed, sometimes the workers are very rude and aggressive. I went i had to wait 3 hours outside almost they barley got my work done just charged me higher prices which i can visit different workshop like city they would provide better service . Had my side door fixed on my 2005 Dodge caravan because the lock and door would not open. The service was fast ( same day) and they were professional and always picked up when i called for an update. The only reason why this place is getting two stars is because their workers were pleasant to speak to. The boss is rude though and wouldn't compensate to take a look at them and fix it! i wish to compliment the owner(s) / management of bobby's on their exceptional staff - these guys are the kindest, friendliest, most professional people ever, and provide excellent, way-over-the-bar, top notch customer service to all. i stop in to bobby's every few weeks, and the guys there are very patient and kind to take time out of their day / workload to put some air in my bike tires. i have a slow leak, and the bike pump i invested in went kaput. i've been looking into getting an air compressor type of bike pump, and in the meantime i've stopped here because it's on my way to / from work, and because these guys are so nice. they are really very friendly and always cheerfully pump up my tires in a minute flat, no problems, no fuss or anything. i am super grateful to them for their generous professionalism in helping me out. special shout out to usman and arphan for their wonderful assistance - thank you so very much! read more
