The horn on my car stopped working the other day, so I brought it here based off the good reviews on Yelp, and I'm glad that I did. Within a couple of minutes, the horn was working, but they explained to me that a new one was still needed as there was an internal problem with the component and so, although it was currently working, it would most likely stop working again soon. They made some phone calls to see if they could get the part, but they couldn't. They advised me to get the part from Ford and bring it to them so they could instal it. Best of all, they didn't charge me anything for getting it to work. I know that's a small thing because, realistically, they really didn't do much, but it's that kind of honesty and integrity that I appreciate. The main reason they earned their 5 star review? They turn down work. Other places could easily lie and find work that needs to be done. Ex: Go in for an oil change and you'll need a new timing belt or a different fluid change. Here, they only do what you ask for. They will turn down work if they don't think it's necessary. I went in for an oil change and my dealer told me that my brakes are due for a change. Went to Nick's and asked for the oil change and new brakes. The mechanic (I believe it's Ming) told me that they still had another half year to a year left on them considering that this is my daily driver. He told me just check it again next time I'm in for an oil change. Most recently, I went in for an oil change and had him check my brake fluid because it was within the timeframe of replacement. Ming turned down the work again because the brake fluid was still clean. If you know what you need, this is exactly the place to go for honest work. read more

This was my 1st car inspection since returning to NY so I was apprehensive if I would get ripped off. Yelp was my go to and I found this garage/business. I figured you needed an appointment so I called first and low and behold you didn't need one. Besides an inspection I needed to have my front license plate holder attached. When I arrived I was fortunate to be able to park in the driveway because the cars are double parked all long this street and it is quite a hectic area plus the city bus comes down this Avenue, so congestion is high! Meng greeted me when I entered garage, he didn't tell me his name till the end when I asked. He was diligent, fast and met my expectations and requests! I'm not sure if it was a slow day for them due to the cold weather but I was expecting to wait a while. To my surprise I was in and out within 30 minutes or less! I will return for sure. read more

Two Words: RUDE and IMPATIENT Called them to get a quote for an oil change, the guy who picked up was very impatient, (our phone call lasted 20 seconds) he just told me "we ONLY have regular oil"(BASIC). As I proceeded to ask him another question the guy already hung up the phone. WTF LOL. THANK YOU, pleasure DOING business with you guys!!!!! I called the auto repair down the block, the representative personally went on the computer to look for my car's filter and car's oil and broke down the prices for me. Here's your first 1 star. Went to get oil change from BP Petrol on 8th Ave and the guy tried to trick me for getting more services. Luckily I refused and went to Nicks Auto Repair instead. He was really honest and told me I didn't need to change anything! Will definitely come back here for all future works. It's so hard to find a mechanic that is honest nowadays. read more

I live in west Jersey. It is worth the hour drive to go to Nicks. Most honest mechanics I've ever dealt with.

NYS Emissions Inspection. Good Experience. Was late for annual State Inspection. Took a day off from work, but found my preferred place apparently had closed down (with no warning). So started driving around. The next five random garages were either too busy or "out of stickers". After no luck on 86th St, turned onto 18th Ave. Never had stopped in any of the businesses along this strip - where could you park? - with the Fire Station, Auto Body shops, and bus stops, driveways, and double parked cars. Anyway, while creeping behind a slow bus, happened to notice the Inspection location sign, so stopped, triple parked, and rushed in. Asked if they do inspections, "sure". Any wait? "No, bring it in." They did a full, no-shortcuts, inspection. No wasting time. No bs. No "we saw a (nonexistent) problem while it was on the lift which we can fix for $$" - like 86th St/16th Ave Quick Lube inspection a couple of years back. They even placed the new sticker neatly. Finally I brought it to Nick and had a front wheel bearing replaced here. No bullshit. Fair price and professional service! I only recently moved to Brooklyn, and took my car to Nick's for a state inspection. I had registered my vehicle the day before but I did not put the plates on because I didn't have the screws to put the front plate on. My previous state of residence doesn't require a front plate. Saturday AFTERNOON is a tough time to find a repair/inspection station open for new customers. My inspection was expired and i had been too sick to get out of bed to get my car done. Great services, nice job. I've been coming here for years. They are truly honest and trustworthy. No hot sale, no persuasive approaches. You can just leave your car to them without any second thought. One downside is that they don't do body works, just mechanics. But they do minor repair if it just needs some touch up.
