The lady in the office is nice, even when she is busy with many other people. The mechanic is very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. They are busy because of all their returning business. Call and make an appointment first. read more

I needed a simple task completed; Just a State Inspection. They completely took care of me. I had a seat in their waiting room and chitchatted with Ms. Valerie (who was an absolute DOLL!) Before I knew it, a mechanic popped his head in and said "All set!". Talk about quick service! If I need anything mechanical done, I'm headed to Third Avenue Auto. read more

Really like this place. The mechanics are knowledgeable and the front desk woman is very nice. The wait can be long even with an appointment but it is what it is. Just be patient. read more

Great quality work! Honest pricing for services, I wouldn't look elsewhere if you need a mechanic!

Most dependable shop in the area by far. They are always able to identify and correct the issue.

I've been coming here for years, Although this time it was just my inspection it won't be long before I'll need to come back for something else. Patrick is always helpful, quick and honest! I wouldn't go anywhere else... read more

Third Ave Auto - Auto Repair Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

In reading the reviews, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in my admiration for this place. I came here 14 years ago for an inspection and never looked back. This is the most honest service station I've ever been to. Patrick is great. He explains everything and delivers what he promises. Thanks for all the help! read more

Went there for an oil change. Everything went smooth. However, they did not tell me that they had broken the drivers handle. I did notice them being in the habit of lifting the car and then using a stool and hanging on the door handle in order to get on top of the crane so that they could open up the door, but never thought they would break the handle and not say anything about it!!! Very disappointed with them. Also, make sure you have enough gas in your car, they are also in the habit of letting the car idle and not turning it off (left the car for a few hours there and noticed that the fuel indication bar wasnt at full as i left it) read more

We have been going here for years, upon the recommendation of my brother, who has been going there for more years. Without hesitation, I recommend this place to any of my friends who are looking for a knowledgable, honest auto mechanic. Everything everyone here says about Nick and Patrick is true - they are wonderful. On the rare occasion when a problem isn't immediately corrected, they will continue to work until they find a solution. I have never ever been dissatisfied with the service here. It is such a comfort to know that there are still good and honest people out there. read more

Honest and reliable with fair pricing. If you are in the area and need great service done on your car this is your place.

They replaced my motor mounts in less than half the time and for less than what I had been quoted everywhere else. Everyone was courteous, especially Patrick and the lovely lady in the office. read more

Thank you Ali for all your help! The team was very professional and service was fast and efficient. I was able to get a great transmission at an affordable price. I highly recommend them for all your auto needs! read more

My wife has been using Nick for years. I live in NJ now and if I am able to get my car to Bay Ridge I get my work done at Third Ave Auto. They are highly reputable and competent. Lee, one of the mechanics that runs the show, is excellent. Highly recommend! read more

Came here to get my car inspected. After an hour, I received a call and a $37 inspection turned into $150 dollar bill. I was annoyed, as I've never had a problem with my car passing inspection. However, the mechanic took the time to explain everything to me and gave me a list of things I need to have repaired at some point. Initially, I was skeptical but in the end I was reassured that the mechanic was honest and felt comfortable leaving my car in his hands. He was able to make the repairs the same day. Unfortunately, something was up with my car that prevented my car from passing the emissions part of the inspection. The mechanic suggested I drive the car on the belt for about an hour and put a treatment in the tank called Guaranteed to Pass. I did just that and brought the car back and it passed! The customer service is the main reason I'm giving 5 stars. It's never fun going to the mechanic but helps tremendously when the mechanic is polite and considerate. I'll definitely be back for any future auto repairs. read more

When you find a repair shop that you can trust, where they don't try to rip you off, take care to do the right thing in the right way, and do a great job as well... you stay with them. We've been using Nick and Patrick for years and will continue to do so. They are the best. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I've been driving for 20+ years and this is the first repair shop I'm actually comfortable with. They don't upsell things you don't need, they're friendly, they've gotten the jobs done when promised or earlier even when swamped with cars, and so far they've done everything I've needed correctly and at a fair price. They tend to be very busy (and with good reason), so experience has taught me that it's probably best to call them before you bring your car or show up right when they open. read more

Great service, came here for two oil changes now, as well as a battery replacement. They're honest people who get the job done right, and not rip you off with their prices. Highly recommended. read more

I brought my car in for 2 reasons, one was fixed, and the other, wheel alignment, was not. I was charged for the fix and they 'road' tested it, but not at highway speeds which is exactly when alignment is most needed. Amended: to their credit, the owner and Patrick brought in a specialist from the company that built their alignment machine, and they worked on the issue for some time at no cost to me. That said, all in all, I will use them again. read more

I've found my neighborhood mechanic for the rest of time! My car wasn't starting and this place was able to take me in the same day, assuring me that they'd take care of everything. And they stayed true to their word - I got updates from Patrick the entire day as they started to solve the issue, and I was able to pick my car up early the next morning (even on New Years Eve!) like nothing had ever happened. Excellent customer service, quick quality work, and honest prices! Love this place and will be coming back for all my car needs. read more

Trusted mechanic of Golden Talon Construction for over 5 years now. Awesome service and great staff Patrick and Nick are the best.

My Chevy Colorado had an on-going issue over the years and I had taken it in for service at auto shops in three different states while traveling for work: a Chevy dealership in Oklahoma, auto shop in Texas, and an auto shop in Virginia. Patrick and the team at Third Ave Auto were the only ones to find and fix the issue. The price was fair for the work. I also took my vehicle in for routine maintenance and the service was prompt. read more

I am always worried about bringing my car in for service at an auto repair shop, fearing cost and repairs that are not needed. After all of the positive reviews I chose to bring my car in after hearing an noise while driving. I took my car in and while they were busy didn't hesitate in trying to fit me in. A couple of hours later I knew what was wrong and by midday had my car. Thanks to the Valerie, Nick and his team today. Glad to find a reputable local auto repair shop. read more

These guys are the best. Really. They are honest, accurate, and nice, and they always have the car ready when they say they will. If they think a workaround/cheaper fix will do the trick they'll offer it, but they will be clear about odds of success and they will tell you (and you can trust them when they do) if they think the most thorough fix is worth it. They have kept our old car running nicely, and fixed a few larger problems with full success. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. read more

I've been bringing my car to Nick and Patrick for four years. Prices are reasonable, their service is very fast and convenient, and they're really nice guys. I've never even had to make an appointment. I drop the car off first thing in the morning, tell them what the issue is, they call me to discuss (if it's something complicated), and it's always fixed by the end of the day. Most importantly, these guys are honest. And I can say that as someone with 30 years' experience of owning and driving cars who's worked on cars in the past and knows their ins-and-outs as well as 99% of the people out there. So I know when mechanics are lying to me or trying to sell me stuff I don't need. Nick and Patrick have never told me anything that wasn't completely on the level. They do an exceptional job of diagnosing the problem so that they don't end up replacing parts needlessly. These guys are great! I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

This place is fast and honest much like the other reviews here, these guys are great and don't give you any bs. Patrick is awesome!! He is cordial and gets things done fast. I've met the owner and he's a great guy too, very kind and doesn't waste any time. This place is by far the must trust worthy, fast, affordable places I've ever been to. read more

I felt like I practically grew up here. The mechanics here are all down to earth and HONEST. Nick and Patrick (Lee) makes you feel very welcomed as if you are visiting family. Don't be surprised if you see people just stopping by to say hello there. When I was a college student and funds were more limited, they were the first ones to point out "You drive a car that requires some work but here are the serious issues, fix these and then worry about the rest" I love the fact that they have someone there 24/7 to take in cars to be worked on or to pick up your car even at 11PM. I'm not sure if they are the cheapest mechanics out there but I believe that pricing is fair. I personally think it says something when you don't have to be the cheapest or try to sell jobs to stay afloat for all these years. read more

Lived in Bay ridge and can't understand why I never came here... Best mechanic in Brooklyn... brought him my 2001 Hyundai and only mentioned one problem and Patrick already knew what the problem was... not only knowlable but so honest... bring him my wife s car here and all my friends..... read more

I grew up in Bay Ridge, and I've passed by these guys many times over the years. I finally brought my car in after an auto accident. Nick and Patrick were both very nice and accommodating. Patrick went out of his way to make sure everything was taken care of, including calling me to keep me updated on my car. Patrick did such a good job, it's as if nothing happened to the car. Not only that, but he saw my car was due for inspection, so he threw it in without any extra charge. I highly recommend them for anyone who needs their car serviced/fixed. read more

I have been going to Nick and Patrick for years. Nick is wonderful as is Patrick. They are honest and don't suggest anything you don't need on your car for repair. I never get a surprise when I am about to pay, they call ahead to let you know what it will cost in repairs. All the mechanics are pleasant and knowledgable. Valerie, the customer service representative is not only polite and efficient but sweet and accommodating. Always a pleasant experience! read more

Have been a customer for many years and Nick (the owner) and Patrick great. Only do what is needed and do not rip you off.

These are the most honest mechanics I've seen in brooklyn. They are thorough, fast, friendly, and will be the first ones to tell you when you DON'T need to spend money. Patrick is my "go-to" guy but everyone I've talked to there is very helpful. It's well worth the hike up to the 90s to get to them. read more

Was looking for an auto mechanic and someone recommended this place to me. From that first telephone call to Valerie, who is not only so genuinely pleasant but super efficient, I have nothing but the highest praise for Third Avenue Auto. I have been back several times since then and all the mechanics, Nick, Patrick and the rest of their amazing staff, have never disappointed. Their work is top notch, their prices are fair and they always have the time to answer any question or concerns you may have. They are simply the best! read more

Came to Bay Ridge to visit some friends for the night. Late Saturday afternoon went to move my car and it did not start...totally dead. My girlfriend's family had a close relationship using this shop and called them for me. Patrick sent one of his guys right to where I was parked. He figured out what the problem was, they had it towed and fixed before 8am the next morning! I find that to be amazing! I had gone to my Jeep dealer 3 weeks prior telling them I was having an intermittent problem with the car starting. They had my Jeep for TWO days and obviously did NOT fix the problem. I am actually grateful it happened when and where I was because I doubt it would have been fixed as quickly and efficiently. Thank you Third Avenue Auto Repair! read more

Simply the best! The most ethically honest repair shop in my experience. I have going to them for over 30 years!

I've been going to Patrick ever since I've been driving. He is honest, if something might not work he will tell you. He never lets me down. His prices are fair and even though they are always busy he manages to still get my car to me when I need it! I think these negative reviews are just people who have no patiences. If there is a will there is a way! read more

Recently came here for an oil change. I went early on a Thursday morning but they were packed and told me to come back a few hours later which was no problem for me. When I went back they were still busy but took me. They gave me a 1 hour wait time but I heard nothing for close to two hours - when I called they said my car was ready for pickup. I guess just one of those things that happen when they're busy. All the guys were very nice and price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend. read more

I had a really great experience at Third Ave Auto. I drove in on Friday morning. I spoke with Patrick. I told him what the Honda dealership service guy told me. He did his own inspection and then told me about where he agreed and disagreed with Honda's service rep. Honda told me I needed to get my ac compressor, cabin filter, water pump, drive belt and tensioner replaced. It turned out that I only needed to get the ac compressor and cabin filter replaced. It also turned out that the price Patrick quoted me was half what Honda's service rep quoted me. What's even better is that Patrick had my car ready the same day so I was able to pick it up after work. I'm glad to know that there are still skilled AND honest mechanics around. I will continue going to Third Ave Auto. read more
