Went there for an oil change. Everything went smooth. However, they did not tell me that they had broken the drivers handle. I did notice them being in the habit of lifting the car and then using a stool and hanging on the door handle in order to get on top of the crane so that they could open up the door, but never thought they would break the handle and not say anything about it!!! Very disappointed with them. Also, make sure you have enough gas in your car, they are also in the habit of letting the car idle and not turning it off (left the car for a few hours there and noticed that the fuel indication bar wasnt at full as i left it) read more

Came here to get my car inspected. After an hour, I received a call and a $37 inspection turned into $150 dollar bill. I was annoyed, as I've never had a problem with my car passing inspection. However, the mechanic took the time to explain everything to me and gave me a list of things I need to have repaired at some point. Initially, I was skeptical but in the end I was reassured that the mechanic was honest and felt comfortable leaving my car in his hands. He was able to make the repairs the same day. Unfortunately, something was up with my car that prevented my car from passing the emissions part of the inspection. The mechanic suggested I drive the car on the belt for about an hour and put a treatment in the tank called Guaranteed to Pass. I did just that and brought the car back and it passed! The customer service is the main reason I'm giving 5 stars. It's never fun going to the mechanic but helps tremendously when the mechanic is polite and considerate. I brought my car in for 2 reasons, one was fixed, and the other, wheel alignment, was not. I was charged for the fix and they 'road' tested it, but not at highway speeds which is exactly when alignment is most needed. Amended: to their credit, the owner and Patrick brought in a specialist from the company that built their alignment machine, and they worked on the issue for some time at no cost to me. These guys are the best. Really. They are honest, accurate, and nice, and they always have the car ready when they say they will. If they think a workaround/cheaper fix will do the trick they'll offer it, but they will be clear about odds of success and they will tell you (and you can trust them when they do) if they think the most thorough fix is worth it. I've been bringing my car to Nick and Patrick for four years. Prices are reasonable, their service is very fast and convenient, and they're really nice guys. Most importantly, these guys are honest. And I can say that as someone with 30 years' experience of owning and driving cars who's worked on cars in the past and knows their ins-and-outs as well as 99% of the people out there. Came to Bay Ridge to visit some friends for the night. Late Saturday afternoon went to move my car and it did not start...totally dead. My girlfriend's family had a close relationship using this shop and called them for me. Patrick sent one of his guys right to where I was parked. He figured out what the problem was, they had it towed and fixed before 8am the next morning! I find that to be amazing! I had gone to my Jeep dealer 3 weeks prior telling them I was having an intermittent problem with the car starting. They had my Jeep for TWO days and obviously did NOT fix the problem. I felt like I practically grew up here. The mechanics here are all down to earth and HONEST. Nick and Patrick (Lee) makes you feel very welcomed as if you are visiting family. When I was a college student and funds were more limited, they were the first ones to point out "You drive a car that requires some work but here are the serious issues, fix these and then worry about the rest" I love the fact that they have someone there 24/7 to take in cars to be worked on or to pick up your car even at 11PM. Recently came here for an oil change. I went early on a Thursday morning but they were packed and told me to come back a few hours later which was no problem for me. When I went back they were still busy but took me. They gave me a 1 hour wait time but I heard nothing for close to two hours - when I called they said my car was ready for pickup. I had a really great experience at Third Ave Auto. I drove in on Friday morning. I spoke with Patrick. I told him what the Honda dealership service guy told me. He did his own inspection and then told me about where he agreed and disagreed with Honda's service rep. Honda told me I needed to get my ac compressor, cabin filter, water pump, drive belt and tensioner replaced. It turned out that I only needed to get the ac compressor and cabin filter replaced. It also turned out that the price Patrick quoted me was half what Honda's service rep quoted me. What's even better is that Patrick had my car ready the same day so I was able to pick it up after work. I'm glad to know that there are still skilled AND honest mechanics around.
