WHY I never thought to write a review for this place to get me out of the reviewer's blues(giving one star does not suit me well) I have no idea. Thanks to Evelyn W. who was kind enough to comment (I love comments) on my last devestating review, I remembered to write this review - THANX EVELYN for getting me out of the slumps. I HAVE BEEN GOING HERE FOREVER, this is my GO TO place for all my grooming needs and I kid you not I come out smiling brighter then then sun when I do. I bumped into this joint once on a cold winter before a party and I desperately needed my nails did, cuz you know, that's part of the dolling up thingie don't you know? I just don't feel completely dolled when my nails look like...well, ew and dull. This poor woman was about to close - 2 minutes before closing when I ran in sweats fully made up and hair did. She was sympathetic and did my nails so beautifully I cried a little when they fell off (I had taken a picture of it but I haven't a clue where it is). Even though I barged in as she was literally opening the door to leave, she was friendly and chatty - which was WONDERFUL because I'm not a fan of people not speaking to me because they don't think their English makes sense (hell, I don't make sense to me at times). I enjoyed her company so much that 40 minutes passed by and I had no idea. She just KNEW the shape I wanted and the design was lovely. One nail smudged a little and she insisted on fixing it. Ever since then I had been hooked to this spot and let me tell you I have trekked from scarberia to get myself groomed and dolled here. Waxing here is less than painful and the wonderful instrumental music and sweet aroma could just put me to sleep and I have fallen asleep once, and she totally let me. In the odd time that she is not available - because she isn't sometimes- or you're pressed for time , there is another salon 2 doors down(or up) who happen to be tiny bit cheaper but it's my back up plan - and I'm never quite thrilled - but the ladies are also quite lovely there too. So, in the words of wonderful Russell Peters, take it and go.:) read more

Considee only unless you have no other alternatives ....or standards. The quality is sub-standard yet their prices seem to outpace Yorkville. I spent over $100 for a mani pedi only to leave with blood, very warped nails that bubble and not smoothed. if it lasts a week I will be shocked. Very minimalistic pedicure excluding the norms of what is expected since i feel as a regular on Bloor to so many others can say. at least try ... and if it's valuable to you, keep your prices posted and stick to what you tell the customer. read more

Went there to do my acrylic refill. The owner KIM did a really bad job. My nail were so thick and chunky, couldn't function with them. After one day I went to fix them. The owner yelled at me and told me that I am a bad person and a demanding person. She after then told me to not come back again to her store. She hit the table and was yelling and swearing at me. I felt really bad and offended. Start talking bad things about me with her co worker and other customers. I don't recommend the place plus it's not clean. Kim pretends to be nice with customers and then if the customers complaint she will kick them out from her salon. She is not professional at all, and has a anger temper This pictures shows the owner work of refilling the acrylic, honestly it looks like I need to do my nails again So hortible read more

I love this place. I've been to many nail salons & this is my favourite. The hours is great cause they are open til late & on holidays. The Salon is spacious & clean also the massage chairs are really in great condition. Ms. Kim the manager is friendly and accommodating. I came without an appointment and I was served right away. Andrew is the best! He is very detailed, nice and he took the time to do my nails like the way I wanted it. Ms. Kim gave me a haircut as well cause I was so impressed by her good service. I did UV/Shellac (Changing Colours) Mani, Reg Pedi & Haircut for just $95. That was worth every penny! Please bring cash to save the taxes. Thank u guys! I will for sure recommend DK Nails to all my families & friends! read more

I've been coming here for years. Not only have they always humoured my outlandish ideas for nail designs but they have made sure my nails have been immaculate each and every time. They got to know me on a personal level and have treated me like a dear friend. Always a great experience coming by. read more

I'm honestly not one to go the length to write a bad review unless it's really bad. I came here actually a couple times because I thought I would give it more then one chance but I shouldn't have. The nails did not look good at all were filed all which ways, and I needed a fill less then a week and half later they are also gouging customers and both times I went it took more then 2 hours and the last time was only an acrylic fill. If you need a great nail shop go to Lux nails right next to it. read more

This place is cheap and cheerful and a bit like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. I hadn't been in for months, and I was welcomed and asked where I had been. The super friendly atmosphere and banter between manicurists makes it fun and they treat their clients like gold. A mani/pedi is $35 and the most expensive thing they do is Shellac mani/pedi for $70. A steal. They even do Shellac removal for $5 which is a must-do; anyone that has had Shellac knows this. P.S. Although they do accept Interac/ and CC's always bring cash. There's a CIBC conveniently located across the street. read more

Got and mani pedi and the service was fantastic. There's alot of regulars that come here and for a reason! Conveniently right across from ossington station, the ladies were all very nice and my nail colour lasted for 3 weeks! Mani pedi came to $35 plus tax and I got a nail design on my toes for an extra $3. Great place, great price and I will certainly be back!! read more

I love this place! It is in some ways a typical "low-end" place - it's not Yorkville. If bright lights, tacky but fun decor, and Vietnamese accents are an issue, then don't go. But, it is very affordable. And the owner and her employees are charming, friendly, full of laughter and smiles, and do a conscientious, thorough job. Everyone seems to know each other, they clearly have a lot of regulars, and it's a really enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Fun, in other words. But very professional and my nails look great! The fact that there seems to be so many regulars there says something. HOWEVER - note the *few hours*. They take their time and do a great job, but don't go if you have to be somewhere within the hour, or you will just get stressed out. Highly recommended. Though keep in mind I've only had pedicures, shellacs on my nails and acrylic and gel fake nails done. All done very well though. They do much more, waxing, every kind of nail job etc etc... including quickies such as removing nail polish and quick buffs for $5, etc. Also, as the other reviewer said, bring cash. read more

Tried this place out for shellac mani and was disappointed to see it chip on multiple fingers in one day. I won't be back.

Great prices. Only ever had to wait 5 minutes to get my nails done. Tv doesn't work but they always seem to have very soothing music on. read more

DK Nails & Hair - $16.95 with tax. Shellac only no manicure. Lasts 3 weeks. Pretty fast service. - Nail Salons Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I got a full set of acrylics done for $35. I love them so much!!! Ask for Jessica, she's so sweet!!!!

i read other review and see "great prices?" i went for a shellac pedicure and a Bio Gel refill..they couldn't help me with the Bio Gel because the only girl that knows how to do it wasn't there, which is ok, I didn't book an appointment so I booked for the next day. I asked how much was the shellac pedicure before she started and the girl that helped me said 30$. so I thought: THAT'S GREAT at the moment I had to pay the lady, probably the owner told me it was 50$ plus tax! for a shellac pedicure? so they didn't even know how to explain me how from 30$ it became 50$+tax they owner told me that the girl probably got confused. I ended up paying more than 60$ (because of the tips. never in my life i paid that much for a pedicure. i cancelled my appointment the next day and will never return again. no wonder i was the ONLY customer in there. read more

My gf and I came in for pedicures. They told us a 15 min wait. We ended up waiting 30 mins. My pedicure took 1hr (total from when we walked in). My gf's pedicure shellac with french tips took, a total of 2 HRS!!! (from when we walked in). Some of my toe nails were crooked, and I had to fix at home myself. Not sure why everyone keeps mentioning the "affordable" prices as it wasnt any cheaper than any of the salons near by. read more

Revision from my previous review - still a 3 star due to their price but my shillack (sp?) colour change didn't even last one week - Booooo. Not so decent but still affordable Very decent place for a more affordable nail salon place which also does waxing and threading. I have noticed similar cleanliness practices as noted in some of the previous reviews and as a result I will one get a colour change or threading here, but they do both of those well, along with a good wax job. I have never had a politeness or friendliness issue with their staff - all lovely from my experience Take it for what it is, a cheaper (and less hygienic) than average nail salon read more

I usually don't write negative reviews ( everyone has bad days) but after my experience here, I felt I had to. I have a regular spot where I usually get shellac done on my nails every two weeks. Occasionally, if I'm desperate and in another part of town I will try a new place. Being in the neighbourhood and reading the positive reviews, I gave dk nails a try. There were no customers when I arrived and two women greeted me. They seemed friendly and I chose my colour. The woman who was doing my nails had an odd way of removing the shellac I had on already, but it seemed to do the trick. We made conversation as we went along. She seemed to be doing an okay job, but the Polish was rippling ( perhaps it was old) after the third coat it looked better but my thumb nail looked pretty obviously rippled. It was then that I noticed that she had gotten a large amount of polish at the tip of my finger. Being a bright red colour, this was extremely obvious and quite an eyesore. She half heartedly attempted to remove it and then said ' it's okay, just wash your hands later' being that this was shellac, it doesn't just come off with soap and water, it needs to be buffed off or removed with acetone. I sort of laughed but said ' but really, please remove it ' she then ignored me and proceeded to talk with her coworkers in their language which I felt was totally rude. You don't blatantly ignore a customer when they are paying good money to get a professional looking manicure. Finally she barked at me and said she had an appointment, then another woman stepped in to remove the excess shellac on the end of my finger. Despite the rudeness and badly wrinkled looking thumbnail I thanked them and left a good tip. Not, three days after my manicure at dk nails, the polish started to peel and chip. As someone who gets shellac manicures regularly, I am used to getting a full two weeks of good-looking nails. This is literally the worst manicure I've ever gotten along with the worst service. One can expect that when you spend $40 on your nails you can have them looking manicured for more than 3 days. I think from now on I will stick to my regular nail lady ( Shout out to Cindy at van barber and nail salon! ) read more

This place is so amazing honestly! |I always get my eyebrow and toes done with my sister and we love the way ms kim does our eyebrows I rate this store 5 star because they honestly deserve it. read more

There's lots of cheap nail salons in Toronto, but in this one you get very good cleaning and cheerful staff. They clean the foot spas after every use and you could see that the nail implements are properly sanitized. Best pedicure and manicure one can get in town, at such bargain price. You've got to come early as customers in this place just keep coming throughout the day. read more

I come here often for pedi - they work magic on my feet which become quite calloused after all the running and walking I do. The staff are friendly and polite - a calming environment. I often bring something to read or listen to - there's no pressure to chitchat. During my last visit, a male POC came in just as I did - we were both seen to in a friendly and timely manner. read more

I like to come here for eyebrow threading. Julie is the person I ask for, she's very helpful, patient and kind. I like that we can lie down while she does it and she make sure it's as comfortable as she can make it for her customer. I really appreciate her thoughtfulness and will recommend that to everyone read more

I'm rating this place a 2 star. In searching for a local nail/waxing location, i chose to walk into this establishment. Visually, it's run down. There looks to be a makeshift toilet on one of the back walls, and the entire place just is an eyesore. I asked for a mani/pedi. Not difficult. The woman who treated me was very light on her grooming. Cuticles were barely removed, generally there is a foot massage- nope. The paint job (it was a light colour), wasn't out of this world. Her mani? That was interesting. Same with cuticles and massage but her nail painting was atrocious!! Her method was awkward to say the least. So, I'll not be returning. All in all, I could have done this at home. read more

This is a great spot. The price is super reasonable and the service is good. The fuzzy leopard print on the seats is quirky just like all the personalities. It seems like this is a neighbourhood place filled with regulars as everyone that came in the staff seemed to know exactly what their usual treatments were! I had Sue do my nails and she was meticulous and did a good job on my shellac. I would definitely go back. read more

Best place to get waxed!!! You can literally walk in there and get any one of the ladies inside to wax your eyebrows and they will be AMAZING... Plus... they are super cheap... would definitely recommend read more

Super friendly, clean, and exactly what you'd expect from a nail place. Mani/pedi was $35 plus tax, even if I paid cash so it comes to almost $40. I'm a distance runner with pretty messed up feet/toenails and they were great about finding interesting ways to get my toenails (or what's left of them) to look as good as they're going to look. They would totally get 5 stars, except that they don't have Essie nail polish, which I prefer. They do have OPI, though. Would definitely go back here. read more

This place is terrible. (This review is for the new location at 871 Bloor West. The older location was actually great). But here, the nail people often seem inexperienced, and the Shellac barely lasts a week whereas other places I go last 3 weeks without a single chip... This has been consistent in several times going here. (I've been getting shellac regularly for about 5 years now, so I can tell when someone knows what they're doing). I have actually been disappointed several times in this place.., but have gone back because it's right across the street from me, and very convenient... But this last time was the WORST shellac manicure I've ever had... and I will NEVER GO BACK! The girl cut my cuticle in 3 places, hurting me and leaving marks. Also - she took nail clippers to my pinky nail and cut it right off, half the length of all the others... without asking, and for some unknown reason. She said "i thought you wanted a tip"... to which i replied, "why would i want a fake tip when my nail was real?" Then - when she grinded off my previous polish, - she must have grinded down my nails too much, or something, because they were all so soft and bendy after the manicure was done, which has never happened to me in all the years of getting regular shellac. Two nails broke within one day, and I had to return to get gel put over them, because they broke halfway down my nailbed. Within 1.5 weeks, almost all the nails had broken, right down to the quik, as they were all so soft. Plus, All the Shellac peeled off and I needed a new manicure... when typically it lasts 3-4 weeks without a chip. The weakness is very unusual as my nails are always very strong, even if I peel the shellac off. So all round, an awful experience. Beware of many of the nail technicians here... many of them have been very disappointing to me and seem very inexperienced. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK!!!! read more

I'm surprised that there are so many positive reviews for this place. The older lady who I am assuming is the owner is the nicest one that works here, and she's usually the best. There is one other lady who works here who is OK. But none of that really matters because unfortunately the place is really filthy. Im sorry to say this because I like the older woman. But yeah the place is dirty, my toes caught a weird fungus after going here, all the skin on my big toes started to turn white and peel and I can't get it to stop peeling. They sometimes don't take into account what you want or ask for,and are rude about it. But MOST important, this place is really dirty, and not much cheaper than other places that are less dirty. I actually caught a fungus from here that won't go away. They don't properly wash ANY of their tools. They use old gross nail files, the thing they use to pumice your feet is DISGUSTING!! like imagine having every person in the neighbourhood share a pumice stone with you, thats what happens when you come here. they really need to clean the place up. they're lucky they don't have that much competition. Also, I came into this nail salon with a FUNGUS on MY NAILS. AND THEY USED ALL THE TOOLS ON MY FUNGUS NAIL AND THEN DIDNT EVEN CLEAN THE TOOLS AND JUST PUT THEM BACK IN THEIR FILTHY BOX! IM TELLING YOU THIS PLACE IS FILTHY! STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS FILTH HOLE! read more

I felt pretty uncomfortable with the cleanliness of this place. Had a pedicure done and saw the lack of sterilization of equipment and hand washing between customers. For example, I watched an employee rinse and quickly scrub the foot scraper and put it back in a bin to be used by the next costumer - but no means was it properly disinfected. Yes, its cheap and the staff are friendly, however, not worth the health risk. read more

bad shellac manicure. flecks of dust in the polish, nails cut too short. unprofessional. waste of $30. there are what appear to be students working here who are not qualified to be doing the work and who are not ready to be working on paying customers yet. read more

This place is cheap and they do a great job. I dropped in at 5 PM on a Friday and immediately got seated. A friendly woman did an excellent mani-pedi - round nails and not quite as short as my shortest nail, which is exactly what I asked for - and I was charged $35 total. So, all the ladies working there were yelling and laughing with each other in another language the whole time - there was no pretense of this being a relaxing spa. They seemed to be having a good time, and I did too. Thumbs up! read more
