This is my go to place in LV to do my nails + waxing. Tina and Kim are superrrr nice, they always remember you, and know what you had done last time. I work + live in the area, and never once have been turned down for not having an appointment. I usually go in during lunch time and get my pampering done. Haven't seen my nails this gorgeous since forever! My nails were in a bad need of a manicure. So I called various nail spas around Liberty Village since I live in the area. Most places open around 10am but I called around 9.45am hoping that I could inquire about the prices before making a trip down. X-Nails & Spa was the only place that was open and ready before 10am. Which probably means if you did a walk-in right when they open, they'll be ready for you. I reached around 10.10am and Julie (the lady who answered my call) was already prepared and waiting for me. I asked her what kind of manicure I should get, she looked at my nails and told me that Shellac would do since I wasn't really interested in fake nails. Julie did my manicure quickly and effortlessly. She doesn't talk much but she's happy to reply if you have any questions. I really enjoyed the quiet time for once since I wasn't in the talking mood. The rest of the staff are really friendly and would smile if you were looking in their direction. Julie also asked me to check my nails before putting them under the Uv Rays to dry. I was done and out of there by 10.45am which I think is pretty amazing for such a spectacular job. I had a Shellac French manicure done. My nails were shaped as perfectly as they can be since the nail on my index finger can be annoyingly round. I paid 30 NOT including tip. I like that they don't charge you an extra 5 for French like other places. I wasn't into the hand massage at the end but she did a great job. I just didn't expect it. All in all, I had a great experience and I would definitely go back again. I also recommend anyone who lives or work around the area and needs a quick and good place to do their nails. read more

Long time reader, first time poster. But when you find a good nail place, you've gotta share the wealth! For $40+ tip (tax included) I got a really very decent mani/pedi and an overall pleasant experience. X-nail is officially my new go-to place this summer! After months of depressing and oppressive winter-wear, the gorgeous weather this past weekend inspired me to break out the summer sandals! I was on the lookout for a mani-pedi place in the Lib Village area and came across the good reviews for X-Nail. I decided to check it out on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. When I walked in, there were a few patrons but they were able to accomodate me right away. I browsed through a good selection of normal nailpolishes and saw several disks of the Shellac colours as well. Everything looks nice and neat; the massage chair for pedicures looked fairly new and worked well. There were 2 flat screen tvs, unfortunately showing the basketball game. I think they were trying to accomodate the one guy in the place, so I don't blame them for that. So often at these cheapy places I feel like fast food, with the aesthetician going through the motions as quickly as possible while simultaneously trying to sell you every upgradate they offer - massage, eyebrow shaping, etc. Not the case here! She took the perfect amount of time, where it was speedy enough but the girl checked in with me frequently to ensure I was happy with the shape of my nails, progress on drying, and ringing through the sale. (Note: they don't accept credit cards, cash and debit only.) Don't mistake this for a high-end, glamourous spa. But they completely met and exceeded my reasonable expectations, and I highly recommend X-nails! read more

I'm giving these guys 4 stars at this price point, with the one star docked because clearly there was no point booking a mani pedi for my mom and me 3 weeks in advance, since they obviously just take people as they walk in. So we had to wait half an hour for our 'appointment' as they were quite busy on a Tuesday night. But we didn't really mind, because the ladies there are soooo nice! They chat, they joke around; none of that frantic, stressed-out vibe you get at other nail salons in this price range. They seemed genuine and personable. Oh, and there was no eye-rolling when they caught sight of our size 10 canoe-feet. True pros. Very nice. The salon is neat and clean, and other than the massage function being broken in 2 of their chairs (they're waiting for the parts to arrive so they can be fixed), everything appeared to be ship-shape. Our ladies did a good job on our nails, and even helped my mom pick out her colours. :) The massage portion of the treatment is pretty brief (feet only), but that's to be expected since it's only $40 for a mani pedi, including tax - a great, no-friils price! Being well into my third trimester (of pregnancy), I desperately need a pedicure. My friend saw this one and wanted to try it as it got decent reviews. We went without an appointment, as you can expect with any mass market, quick turn-over nail salon... you can smell the fume of toxic chemical once you step into the store. We were greet immediately and had to wait 10-15 minutes for our service. I got French pedicure and my friend got manicure. It came to $30 for me ($25 + $5 French) and about $20 for my friend. Staff were friendly enough, upon service, my nail technician opened up both front and back door to get some fresh air into the store, which absolutely makes a difference! I seriously question their sanitary practice. During my pedicure she dropped one of the tool on the floor, and just rinsed it in the same water my other foot was soaked in and continued using it... read more

This was my regular salon for quite some time and I loved it... the last time I went right before leaving for vacation I had a horrible experience. I dont think the woman that took me was fully trained I had never seen her there before... She gave me deep cuts on my cuticles and I was bleeding in 4 spots. The shellac was all over my fingers/cuticles.. I had a pedicure, manicure and waxing and was there for over 3 hours.....appalled. When I showed how upset I was (which I never do..but I needed to say something) the owner wanted to take $5 off my $120 bill.. not impressed and will not be back. read more

The ladies at this salon are really nice, however I was unfortunately not terribly happy with my shellac mani. The manicure portion wasn't bad, although a couple of nails weren't particularly even. I noticed near the end of the manicure that one of my nails was really rough where it had been filed. I always feel kind of badly asking of adjustments during a nail service, but the shellac looked really wonky because of the roughness of the nail. It looked a lot better once filed, although a bit uneven. I also noticed hair or fluff on one of my nails and mentioned it, but when the manicure was finished it was still there and pretty noticeable through the light shellac. Finally, the shellac started peeling within a couple of days - especially in areas where it was touching the cuticle. For $30 + tip, which is kind of inexpensive compared to some salons, I still felt like it wasn't quite worth the money I paid. I might go back one day and see a different manicurist, but likely not anytime soon. read more

Had a mani-pedi on Monday and I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The pedi was ok, nothing spectacular but good enough. The manicure on the other hand was done really poorly... the lady didn't properly cut my cuticle and the nail polish started chipping the next day. By end of day Wednesday the nail polish peeled off like stickers from most of my nails. The $40 I paid were so not worth it read more

This place is good for a quick pedi. Owner had me In and out. Did a decent job on my shellac polish on my toes as well. Not 100% sure about cleanliness looked alright from side but didn't see any sanitation while I was there. She did cut my toe slightly with the drill removing my shellac polish. It burned when in the water and acetone. Massage was ok as well. Nothing outstanding. She did get me out in 30 mins which was impressive because I was on a slight rush. I got to X-Nail about once per month for a shellac manicure and I have not been disappointed yet. It always lasts a good 2-3 weeks. Prices are very affordable and the ladies are very nice. Sometimes I make appointments and sometimes I just call a half hour before I want to come in but on a busy night I still have to wait 15-20 minutes. Have also had pedicures done here and while they are nothing special, they are a solid basic. read more

I could tell that the polish had been "watered down" with acetone-- OPI shouldn't need "touch-up" when applying-- it should be two coats and done. The base/top coat was also likely substandard. Either way, within less than one day my polish was chipping on six fingers. I also tried chatting with my nail technician. she wasn't interested. I won't be back. The nails are okay. I already had 8 nails, 2 broken. I asked the price and originally the girl told me $50 but when I got to the cash it was $60. Another weird thing was that because I didn't have enough cash and only Mastercard, I had to go all the way to the bank to pull more cash while they said they had to keep my PHONE ($600 value) instead of my ID's or something else. I've been to X-Nail's a handful of times and have always been happy with my manicures and pedicures. I don't normally make appointments, but I do call in quick before I want to head over to make sure theres room and almost always they have space. Only once on a busy Saturday I had to wait 40 minutes before they had a spot for me, which worked out well because I had to run to the grocery store anyway. I'm extremely unhappy with the service at X-Nail & Spa. They missed cuticles and the top coat they used bubbled and changed the colour of my coral nail polish to orange which made it even more obvious that the technician didn't coat my nails evenly because they were still coral close to my cuticles. For the price they charge (approx $16 for a manicure plus tax) it was definitely not worth it. It's been 48 hours and my polish is peeling and chipping. My friend was with me and her manicure was equally appalling. Her tech didn't even clean up around the nail. I will definitely NOT be going back. To add to the experience, their internet went down right as we were about to pay. We ended up having to leave our ID at the salon and come back the following day to pay. read more

One girl there was not good, she really hurt me and ruined my nails, I wish I knew her name but can tell you that if you go with either of the girls I suggested you will be happy. The first time I went there, a young inexperienced girl gave me a mani pedi and spent only about 40 mins on both. I wasn't impressed with the services at all but decided to give them another chance with someone else. I went in today for another mani pedi and another lady spent only 30 mins on both services. She pretty much just cut my cuticles and scrubbed my feet quickly, painted my nails and my pedicure was done. She did the same thing with my hands. It was a waste of $40 for both times and I am definitely never going back! If you are thinking of coming here, I suggest you save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Amazing place, the ladies are super nice and super efficient. My only hesitations for giving it 4/5 and not 5/5 are: 1. they cut off the whole cuticle; looks amazing when they're finished but when the cuticle grows back (and they grow back faster)...not a good look 2. when they're busy (usually on Saturdays) they kind of rush through your mani/pedi; but i don't blame them, there's always a lineup/waiting list, I'd suggest going on a quieter day (Mon-Fri) to get the full X-Nail treatment Overall, the price is amazing, location is amazing and this is my regular mani/pedi spot read more

I just love this place! Super friendly, they remember your name, and as much as you choose to share about yourself. They've never tried to up sell me, although probably no need as I'm there every 3 weeks. I get pedi/manis with or without shellac. This is the only place that gives me almost 2-3 weeks of chip free shellac (if it wasn't for the nail regrowth...) Good selection of colours, almost too many. Very clean, all tools are sterilized. They do a thorough job. They do cut down your cuticles to non existent so if you do not wish this, speak up. They do not use razors unless it's really required, which means that if you need a good scrub down, they'll use what they call the " cheese grater". It's great little tool, I've purchased one for myself! It's busy most lunch hours as well as Thursday/Friday/Saturday night. I highly recommend this place! read more

The new salon is clean and the technicians are all very friendly and attentive to their clients. When you walk in you are welcomed with a smile and they are always willing to help. This place is in the area of my work but is totally hit and miss, depending on who you get. Sally no longer works there and was simply the best. Went in today to get a Bio-Gel refill. The job done was great. I'm pleased, but the process was different than other places I've gone to. 3 coats of clear/base, then shape filing AFTER colour and no top coat? Maybe not a big deal... However, I was SUPER disappointed when I cashed out - the advertised price on the wall display for a fill is $35, and I was being charged $50? When I asked why I was told it was because I had Shellac colour put on. That's strange - I never asked for Shellac, nor did I pick a Shellac colour from the wheel - I only picked from the Bio Gel available colours. They didn't seem to get what I was saying and continued to argue that I had Shellac and that I must not have understood. I was in a rush to get back to work (the appointment had already taken 1.5 hours over my lunch time!) so I paid it, but left $0 tip and will absolutely never return again. read more

I've been coming here for years, and can't ever imagine going anywhere else to do my nails. I'm always greeted with a smile, and they always take their time. I've never felt rushed even when I'm being picky! Tiana is my favorite and is simply amazing..she always caters to what I want and always perfects the style and shape I want. DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this nail salon! I am writing this review because I feel like it is my due diligence as a customer who loves to get her nails done in Toronto. I have been going to X-Nails in Liberty Village for the past 6 months and really haven't had a problem. I went about 10 days ago for a manicure and pedicure. After I left, my nails appeared to be fine, but a couple days later, the cuticle edges appeared to be inflamed. I began to treat it with polysporin and alcohol swabs, but it got progressively worse. See attached for the photos. ​The thumb has gotten better since I had to spend $30 on prescription drugs. I went to the clinic on Saturday (Appletree Medical - 4G Spadina Avenue), and was told some of the infections are progressing quickly. Again, I am now on Amoxicillin and it is starting to feel better. I am extremely disappointed in this establishment and had to complain. I have been unable to wear certain shoes and have been in huge pain due to the infection. I also had a fever and missed a half day of work. Beware of this nail salon. It is not sanitary and I have gone through a TON of pain. I am not able to wear closed shoes at all, even after being on medication. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. read more

I used to love it I swear but I went in for a wax a few days ago only to have the owner use the WRONG wax for my upper lip, which she then had to peel off with her fingers because it wouldn't come off. Awful. You can't make mistakes like that on people's skin especially FACE! As well due to their shellac nail jobs not being the cleanest looking I stopped going there for nails and go elsewhere. Due to me no longer attending that salon the lady who used to do my nails has taken personal offence and no longer even looks at me or greets me. I find that petty and lack of customer service.
