I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD!!!! They scammed me knowing I was from the US. My total came out to $140 CAD. I didn't know there was a difference and they conveniently didn't take credit cards. I asked if there was a difference in conversion between USD and CAD and the lady said no difference. It was my first time in Canada so I was panicking looking through my purse and wallet and got $137 in USD and she said that she'll take that cash and to come back with $3 more USD later. I thought it was an expensive pedi and gel nails (very short French tip nails no mani) for the US but just though the Canada charges more. Only to find out that she basically cheated me out of money and tipped themselves a lot. They totally took advantage of me. My fault, I guess, for thinking someone wouldn't do that. Lesson learned. This was my first time at Kim's Nails and let me say that I am not disappointed at all. My nails are usually pretty much a hot mess, so I get a little nervous about getting my nails done but I figured I would treat myself! I booked an appointment to get a full set of gel nails. As it's Sunday, the salon was quite busy but I was taken in right on time. The serves are comparable to other nails salons I've been to. The staff are all so sweet and friendly, I didn't feel intimidated at all. My nail tech was super chatty and lovely. She was constantly checking in with me to make sure I was happy with the length and shape of things. They really do what they can to go the extra mile. While my nails were drying they gave me a lovely neck and shoulder massaged and they massages my hands when I was finished. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Kim's nails! I paid 65+tip for full set of bio gel extensions with shellac, short and pointy, and I am thrilled with the results! The woman who did my nails was great, I'd never had my nails done before and she checked with me every step of the way to make sure I liked how they were going. I really appreciated that, she always gave me an opportunity to correct/change anything she was doing (not that I needed to, she did exactly what I wanted - I showed her a picture at the beginning - I only requested once that a little more be filed off one side of one nail, which she did right away!) Her and Kim were so friendly, always checking with me to see if I wanted something else to read and if I was happy with the nails so far. This place is busy - MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. The phone literally rings off the hook, and Kim was doing her best to answer all the calls, but she will call you back, like she did with me, if she misses yours (they have call display so they know even though you don't leave a message.) I noticed a bunch of regulars chatting with Kim and the other staff, everyone knew each other by name and it was such a great environment. They really seem to care about the customers and their work. They follow all covid guidelines; they ask you to wash your hands upon arrival, masks on (of course), dividers during service & they sanitize after every client. I had been lusting over long, bold nails on instagram for long enough! Today, I made the modest trek (a 2 min. walk down queen to Dufferin) to Kim Nails and Spa. I did call about an hour and a half in advance to schedule my appointment but they didn't ask for a name and seemed a bit confused when I arrived. Everyone was very busy. I must have been asked 3 times what I was there for but was finally whisked away by a lovely technician by the name of Linda. I overheard that the spa had recently expanded! From my experience today it seems like they could benefit from hiring a receptionist to manage the increased traffic, appointments and work flow. All the staff seemed very pleasant and cheerful. It was my first experience with false biogel nails. Linda was very knowledgeable and thorough and did a great job of ensuring I knew what to expect at every step along the way to totally fab nails. just terrible! I came here for a pedicure and manicure, and it was truly one of the worst experiences I've had. Not only was the actual salon experience terrible as it was clear to me they just wanted to finish with me fast, my regular polish pedicure did not last through my one week vacation and my manicure shellac came off as well during the vacation. They gave me one coat of regular nail polish on my feet and nothing else--I could've done this myself! The shellac was done so poorly that it literally peeled off five days after I got the manicure. I got a shellac manicure ($40)on Friday and there were a lot of clients and technicians on that day. I walked in with my friend and they were able to take us right away. My nail technician was very precise and really took her time in grooming and removing the dead skin around my nails. I also got a really nice hand massage and a hot towel after she was done. I don't know if it's only for select customers only but I got a really nice back massage for like 3 min- BUT my friend didn't receive one I give this salon a 3 star because 3 days AFTER I got these nails it chipped!! read more

Worst place. I've been there once before and the experience was fine but after this one I'll never go back. Firstly, it felt dirty this time since there was nail dust everywhere- and all over the lady who started on my nails. She had it all in her hair and eye brows. Pretty gross. Anyway...I had shellac done and it was so thick my nails looked like little marshmellows. Tried to look more closely during the manicure but the lady kept telling me to put my hands back into the machine. I should have stopped her there but I'm really not picky. I hate complaining, and didn't think it could be so bad. I got a proper look when they were done, and was really disappointed. No one cared, and they were extremely rude and argued with me- saying they looked great! I tried to kindly problem solve with them and got nowhere. I started my day writing up a bad review but I was pleasantly surprised this evening when I received a call from the owner of the salon. She went into details of the incident that day and apologized if I was upset by the customer service I received. She requested that I come back to the salon for their services. Thank you Kim for the follow up! I will definitely be back soon!! Unfortunately I am a very disappointed with the service I received. I found that they were great while they were doing my nails, friendly, chatty, etc. I will start by saying that I am not a very picky customer when it comes to nails, I rarely raise a stink about them. When I left, 2 of my fingers looked a bit heavy, almost like a blob, I had also provided them with a very simple design which turned out to look ridiculous when they actually did it. But I honestly chalked it up to the shape on my nail and let the design issue go. My real issue started when my shellac started chipping on day 3 and I called in to get it fixed. I had 3 nails that were chipping, which meant that they quality was probably bad (it happens, I wasn't even pissed about that part), they started to chip at the tip and one was in the middle of the nail. I called in and told the lady on the phone I'd like to get them fixed, she wasn't the nicest, so I booked an appointment and went in. One of the ladies came to me and asked to see my hands, the niceness and the friendly demeanour was pretty much non existent, if anything it was bordering on rude. She told me that she will fix the chipped ones, I asked that we re-do it as chances are that I will have a forth nail chipping in the next couple of days and I don't want to come in again. Her answer was a flat no. She didn't even as much offer me any other options to get the set done. I was at least hoping for something like a half price to get the set re done as clearly 3 chips in different areas could indicate older polish or just a shoddy nail job. I quickly realized that they are good when you get your nails done but are pretty bad with dealing with any issues even when it has to do with something they may have messed up. I got her to remove the entire thing, taking my nails somewhere else, it could be a bit pricier but at least I won't feel bad paying for bad customer service. read more

I've been going to Kim's nails for over a year now. At first I was really impressed with the nail techs ability, but then I started to get placed with techs who didn't do as well of a job. I tried multiple times to request to be with someone specific but they don't take requests - which as a salon business owner myself I find that extremely impersonal and unnecessary. I've had multiple experiences so bad that I've had to complain to the manager so she knows not to book me with him/her. Multiple times they will charge me extra for length or because they've had to use more product, but NEVER lets me know before I go to pay. I'm always surprised at my total by the end of the apt, it is never consistent even though I get the same refill every time. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend Kim's nails to anyone that I know unless it's a last minute emergency (they usually always have openings & are good for that). read more

I was really excited to check this place out after reading all the glowing reviews, but ended up being super disappointed with my experience. I made an appointment for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure over the phone, and specifically mentioned that I wanted to get nail art done. I explained I wasn't looking for anything overly complicated, but wanted to make sure it would be done properly, and that I could come in whenever they had availability/the right personnel. I was assured it wouldn't be a problem and that they could definitely do nail art on shellac polish, and was given an appointment for later that same day. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment, and was seated immediately. The salon was brightly lit and very clean, and all the nail techs seemed friendly. One nail tech started working on the pedicure, while the other took care of the manicure. I thought things were off to a great start! However, when I explained to the nail tech working on the manicure that I wanted nail art and showed her examples from the salon's own Instagram account, I was told it could only be done on bio gel nails. I was surprised by this since I was asking for something quite simple, and have had way more intricate nail art done on shellac nails at other places before with no issues. I explained I was open to bio gel, but was told that there wouldn't be enough time. We were 5 minutes into my appointment at this point, and the nail tech hadn't started doing any work on my nails other than wrapping them in acetone/foil. I then asked if they could simply do a bio gel overlay since I didn't really want fake nails anyway - the nail tech agreed that would work but then said that I should do that on my next visit since there wasn't enough time today. To make things worse, she insisted she could do something similar with glittery polish so I wouldn't be going home with just plain nails, but you can barely see the "art" since it doesn't show up on the base polish I had chosen. I have never had a salon turn down my request for a more expensive service than what I had originally come in for, especially when my request was being made at the start of the appointment. I understand this salon is busy but I did make a reservation, and made it a point to clarify while I was booking the appointment that I wanted to have nail art. Also a bio gel overlay would not have added an incredibly long time to the overall process so I was really surprised by the nail tech's refusal. I don't think I will be returning :( read more

I was in dire need for a new nail salon, so after reading positive reviews about this place I had to go. I originally made my appointment for 1pm for a full set of nails and pedicure, due to traffic I was going to be late. I called and changed it to 1:30. I arrived at 1:15 and I was greeted upon entering. One of the technicians brought me to the pedicure chair and started working right away. I appreciated the punctuality considering I was late, and they were busy. My pedicure felt great. The place is clean and the utensils used on my feet and nails were clean as we I asked for ombré French nails, and that is exactly what I got. My technician was very detail oriented and meticulous with her work. I'm very impressed, and will definitely come back for repeat business. I've thought on this experience for a few days, and here's the verdict. This place is A OK. Great actually, but they made a big blunder on me, so I am going to meet in the middle and give them three stars. Before I get into the mistake, I just want to say that I will try Kim Nails again. The staff were super friendly, the place very clean and the prices fair. I came in for an impromptu pedicure, and they had room for me. Hooray. It started great. My nails looked sharp, my feet exfoliated and my lower legs massaged. I sat for 10 minutes air drying next to a friend, then 10 minutes under a dryer. They came over and did that quik dry spray stuff, touched my nails and said I was good to go. They then saran wrapped my feet. Yes, you read that correctly. They told me it was just in case, because it was winter and I was going to put on socks and boots. I then put my plastic-wrapped feet in goods, paid and tipped and went on my merry way. I walked straight home and took of the wrap, because, well, it was weird. In pulling it off, I lost the polish on both of my big toes. Ouff. Take my advice, if you aren't in a rush and they try to literally wrap up your feet, just ask to sit a little longer. Are my feet soft? Yes. But I paid for the polish, too. Quite a bummer. read more

Went here last week with a friend for shellac manicure. The manicure was not done well - I could have done a better job myself sadly. The shellac began to chip at the edges by the 2nd day and have now peeled off. I've never had shellac peel off before! As my nails were drying I received a complimentary "massage" I wasn't aware of or expecting. 5 mins of being punched in the back while I tried to think of an appropriate way to ask her to stop. My friend's nails are chipped and peeling off as well - their shellac is most likely diluted or very cheap. read more

My nails look wonderful and exactly what I asked for. That being said, each finger nail was subjected to a separate session of excruciating pain while under the UV light to cure the gel. They told me this was normal and to just push down on my finger while it was curing. I looked it up afterwards online and apparently this means there is too much gel applied at once and it should be done in layers instead. Also that it could cause damage to my nerves and nail-beds. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled w how the manicure looks; the staff was really sweet as well. But I'm genuinely afraid to go back because of the pain lol. read more

The staff were friendly and welcoming! I got a shellac pedicure which was $50, cheaper than other salons I've been too. It's been over two weeks, I run long distances, swim, rock climb, yoga and my pedicure is still perfect! I like that they use these cute petals in the water. I highly recommend you call in early that day to book an appointment because the salon gets super busy. One thing to note is there isn't much of a massage done on the legs or exfoliating and some of the massage chairs were broken so some clients got to use it while others didn't. For this price range in the parkdale area, I have received these services at other salons. On the plus side, this salon has an extensive selection of polishes, it's very clean, the bathroom is nice, and everyone is friendly. They really take an effort in putting on the polish and shaping and clipping. There's also a lot of staff which is great so you don't have to wait much for a spot. read more

I would like to establish that I do regard Kim as professional, and very friendly. She takes her craft seriously and holds herself to high level of standards. I think anyone who has received her services will concur that she cares deeply for customer satisfaction. Today, on a whim, I decided it was about time to visit Parkdale's highly esteemed nail spa! I walked in with a request for Bio Seaweed Gel artificial nails + nail art (on 4 fingers) with a photo for reference. The thrill of a spa offering the EXCAT polish shades to a photo reference is a great feeling~ I was sat down with a "Nail Technician" who went straight into buffering my nail, used a powder brush to wipe away the dust, placed the extensions, shaped them to the squarest "oval" you'll ever seen, and slathered a copious amount of gel. (The latter should have been the biggest red flag...) She directed me to place my hands into the UV trays below. The trays, that I affectionately refer to as "Dante's Inferno", are supposedly meant facilitate a "curing" process; however, instead SIMMERED the gel over my natural nail, dealing the most excruciating pain my nails have ever endured! (The thick layer of gel was culpable for the burning pain: had I done proper research beforehand, I would have known to speak up - rather than assuming my natural nails were at fault.) This is when Kim took over. She spent over 40 minutes correcting the shape of my nail tips, and buffering the gel to a more "natural" curve. From here, she began the polish application. The result for the single shade polishes are gorgeous - no streaks, ladies! But the nail art, due to the absence of the appropriate brush, was unfortunately not up to either of our expectations. I do commend Kim for her efforts, the design is still cute, and still greatly appreciate it. In the end, my total included just the extension + Bio Seaweed Gel [since Kim was unsatisfied with the nail art result]. Just to reiterate, I do think KIM is a great talent. If it were not for her hospitality, I would rate my experience 0/5. A part of me wants to give this place a second chance, the other part recalls that horrible burning sensation - ouch! read more

Kim is back in the neighbourhood! I'm beyond happy to have Kim back to this area. She provides impeccable work, 100% attention to detail, without rushing. She wants you to be happy and love it! This is a brand new salon, very clean, you are offered chocolates, tea or water. They carry hundreds of regular or shellack nail polish colours. The stations have built in UV Ray trays below the counters and your toes are dried with a hot dryer while you are getting the manicure. Toes are scrubbed, rubbed and pampered with hot towel, followed by massage. Amanda did my pedicure (excellent job!) and Kim did my manicure. Very happy! Went here the first time with my husband actually. I'm very picky and I actually for once in my life like a nail salon! I've gone back so many times and have brought every girl I know here. My best friend even brought her mother on out monthly mani pedi date. I love all the girls! They are SUPER sweet and attentive. They have a very clean facility which is top of my list important. It's a little pricey but you get an excellent job. It's the first salon in Toronto where I don't think I wasted my money. Impeccable mani and pedi, the cuticle is removed, no rushing, your feet look great and the massages feel so goo. You don't have to tell any lady "you are missing this." Service unbelievably friendly, where I made an appointment for my wife, and while waiting for her nails to get done, they sat me down on the large massage chair next to hers so I could be close to her. Great spot! Staff was sweet, attentive and took good care when working on my fingers and toes. My "regular" pedi was great - clean tools, clean station, bath petals to soak feet in, lovely smelling scrub and creams! My toes looked great for weeks.
